Your'e not going to find any hotel in LA with a view like this. Simply stunning day and night. The famous Stahl House is to your left, your neighbor Sandra Bullock below you and who know who else lives just down the road? Very comfortable little studio perched on the hillside. Great kitchen, comfortable bed, easy parking, clean and 50% deck so you can spend much of your time outside watching the city. Super easy to get anywhere. You can be anywhere on Sunset Strip in 5 minutes, Beverly Hills in less than 10, Hollywood Blvd in 10. Also easy to get to Laurel Canyon to go to the Valley or an awesome drive along Mulholland. Make sure you rent a car...nobody walks in LA, and there's a reason for it. Especially if you're staying in the hills.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Thanks Dave. I looking forward to your return visit which I know is gonna happen!

As described by others the view is breath taking. This unit, however, is not a 1 bedroom as advertised but a studio/efficiency without a single closet to hang clothes. Kitchen is well appointed. Some of the lighting fixtures were without bulbs. I would describe this as "shabby chic". The unit could really use some freshening up - like a paint job.

Owner response: Thanks for your review Ellice. The place has been updated with closet space. :)

The host and the view were excellent! This is a small place, really a studio not a one bedroom, but if you are after a great view, it meets that expectation to a tee! It was much higher up in the Hills than we thought, but the view was awesome and we really enjoyed the balcony. The kitchen is fairly new and well appointed, but we didn't use it much; the bathroom is very small, and the shower is in a separate small enclosure. The biggest struggle was not having anywhere to hang clothes, and limited space for "stuff" in the bathroom. We only saw the host 2 times during our week stay, but anytime we had a request or concern, Scott was on it immediately.

First of all the host: Scott will treat you like a visiting friend. He provide the type of service that big hotels and guidebooks cannot: detailing directions to the best view of the hollywood sign at the end of a hidden footpath or to a beautiful cove along the pacific coast. He also promptly answers every question or e-mail. Then the house: this cozy apartment, nestled in the hills over sunset boulevard, offers a striking cityscape of LA and is very very close to the sunset strip without the hustle&bustle typical of a big city. The neighborhood is also very safe. I can definitely recommend this property to everyone. Thank you Scott for sharing your house with us!

Just taking the windy roads of "Queens" and "Kings" makes you feel like royalty. You know you are headed for an exclusive experience atop all of LA (even higher than the famous Stahl house which you can see on your left on its own mountain crest. When you open the door and see the expansive view--that really can't be captured by pictures--you know you are in a place you won't want to leave often during your stay. Scott's place is truly like no other place we have ever stayed-- be it another VRBO luxury home or high-end hotel (which we have done world-wide). The unit is nicely appointed, with stunning counters and fixtures in the kitchen, a balcony that is even bigger than the pictures show--with a marble floor--, and a quiet location which is a wonderful contrast to all the activity that we never tired of looking at during our four-day stay. We really did not want to leave when the check-out time arrived, but we did so knowing we would be back. We must go back, just to relive the wonder of that view--which was magical with the sun glistening against the hills, the moon shining in the distance, or the fog layer in the morning. Never looked the same way twice. Oh yeah, and our dog Sammy loved it too! As well as his daily "chats" with Scott's lab mix.

Scott was an amazing host throughout our stay. We had travel dramas and arrived a day late and this was totally accommodated for. Firstly, hire a car! In LA you need a car unless you plan on waiting for buses and wasting precious touring time. The location also demands a car hire due to how high you are. The views are amazing and you can really take in the whole of LA. The linen, bedding, kitchen and toilet facilities were perfect. Overall the experience was great, the view alone is worth it because you get to actually unwind after a hectic day of sightseeing. Thank you Scott and apologises for taking to so long to review!

This was an amazing place to stay. The view was beyond compare. It was close to everything. The home was extremely clean. Scott, the host and owner, was superb/perfect! When we visit Los Angeles again, we'll likely stay at Scott's place in "the Hills" again. We felt like we were on top of the world!!! Thanks, Scott!!!

The apartment itself is really lovely and the balcony is just amazing - fantastic views and a great place to drink a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. Good location - only takes 10mins to walk down the hill and you are direct on Sunset which itself has plenty of bars/restaurants and taxis can be easily taken to other areas. We had a car so in the day we found it in a really good spot for getting to other sites, attractions etc. All in all we had the best time in LA and were so lucky with this Apartment - cannot wait to come back and will definately be contacting Scott to stay here again!

We had a most amazing time living in the sky for a week in WeHo at Scott's place. What a kind host Scott was! We had everything we needed to make our stay fabulous. Swinging on the patio while watching the views and Fireworks!! was amazing. We will be back. Close to all the great restaurants: Playa, Spago, Capital Grill, etc! Barney, Gypsy and Frida loved the patio and walking all over the hills! Thanks Scott!

We had a fabulous two weeks at this property. Having stayed in many high end hotels in the area over the years, I can safely say that the view from this property cannot be topped. The property is adequate for a base, with a comfortable bed, equipped kitchen and a nice living area. It is ideally located, just minutes from Sunset Boulevard. Scott is a very accommodating and honest person and we would not hesitate to stay here again. He lets you know where he is if you need him, but allows you to get on with things and totally respects your privacy. Our days of hotels in West Hollywood are over! Thank you Scott, we hope to see both you and Cooper later in the year. P.S...keep using that face cream, it works!!! xx

I have to say that Scott is a great guy with a great sense of humor. Hospitable and considerate, the place is well kept and the atmosphere is chill. Of course, the view is breath taking and turning off the inside lights while looking out at the city lights at night is beautiful.

This was my first time in CA, and i have to say this was the icing to the cake. I was nervous about staying here when i saw the first review but it was too late the trip was already prepared. I got in expecting this to be a horrible place, but honestly it was wonderful. The owner is upfront and honest about the place the pictures and descriptions are all accurate. I'm not really sure what the previous reviewer was talking about. The place was close to the city and I was able to explore all i wanted with ease. The first night i stayed there I sat on the porch and watched the sunset over the city it was a view most people will never get to experience in their lives. I am saving up to make another trip and i will be returning to the same place without a doubt.

the view didn't offset our vacation rental requirements. No closet to hang clothes, the kitchen was not fully equipped with basic cooking utensils, and the bathroom has no space. This property is less of 1 BR house/duplex, but more of a studio apartment above the owner's home. The covered parking is the front porch, which is shared with leftover remodeling debris. The patio deck is adorned with a dead potted tree. Missing screens on the patio doors, cracked mirrors on the wall, and it lacked in overall cleanliness. We moved after one night.

Owner response: I don't want to spent time listing all the false information contain in the review, but let's just say there is no front porch, a red leaf Japanese maple tree sheds it's leaves in winter...it doesn't die, and you can't write a review about a place you didn't stay in. Making unreasonable demands promising to write a bad review is not something that will make me succumb to a person's bad behavior. Fortunately I have 3 years of great guests before someone came along trying to get free rent and then writing a bad review for my unwillingness to comply.

This house was honestly breathtaking...both day and night!! The view was AMAZING!! There is a wonderful long windy road through the homes of the Hollywood Hills to the top where this house is located!! It is right off of Sunset so EVERYTHING Hollywood is right there!! Scott was so helpful with providing anything we needed to make our stay as great as it could be. If you're good tenants, he'll even show you where some highly paid well known actresses live...well their roofs anyway!! ;) P.S. Warning...those scared of heights...do not apply!! This is an eagle's view of Sunset Blvd. and West Hollywood!! Thank you Scott....I'll be back!! (said in a very Hollywood Schwarzenegger accent)

Staying here was the highlight of our trip. The views are just as great as others have mentioned, you are literally perched above Hollywood. Being a suburbanite, it was a bit of an adjustment. The drive is up to the house is a very windy and narrow road. After a couple of times you get used to it, but the first time it was a little intimidating. The house has Dish Network, which was very nice. The house is a 1950's vintage that has been remodelled, and it still appears to be somewhat of a work in progress. No curtain on the shower window was also a little surprising, but we just made sure to never shower at night! We used it as a base for our studio and Hollywood tours (Family of 4) and we were glad we stayed, it was really unique. We saw a side of Hollywood that we never would have saw if we stayed in a Hotel.

Once you walk in the door and see the view you'll never want to leave. I took lots of pictures but they just don't do it justice. I would highly recommend this property as a base when you go sight seeing or just sit on the terrace and read for a couple of days.
