  we enjoyed funky palms. It was convieniently located to go either to cape san blas, port st. joe or apalachicola all within 20 minutes . as we like to explore. Best places to eat up the creek raw bar in apalach. gants barbeque to go in port st. joe only thurs, fri, and sat. excellant. the raw bar right down the road. we loved the seclusion of the beach. wish the view could have been better if some trees could be cleared it would be magnificent. We would have liked a dining table and chairs on porch instead of picnic table, we like to eat outside and be comfy.the shower heads need replaced. all in all we really enjoyed ourselves at funky palms and would return. thanks barbara.

  We had such a wonderful time at Funky Palms! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. The house is so very comfortable & has everything you need to make your trip complete. You guys have a great sense of style (the lamps & floors are fantastic)!! The beach is so close & so very private. It was nice & quiet, exactly what we needed. We filled our days with long walks, gathering shells & sandollars, fishing, flying kites & spending time as a family (dog included). We cannot wait to return! I have already checked the calendar for availability. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

  My husband and in-laws stayed two nights at this house since we were attending a beach wedding that was located on Indian Pass. As you can tell from the pictures, Funky Palms is a little dated, but that was fine by us since the nightly rate was lower. While there were several other houses nearby, I think only one of them was occupied, so it felt very secluded. I do wish we had had a better beach view, but the walk to the beach wasn't far at all. My husband and I enjoyed an hour long walk on the beach and only ran into two other people the whole time, so it was very quiet and enjoyable. Our only complaint about the house was that sound seemed to travel in it very well. My husband and I were in the upstairs king bedroom, and we could hear just about everything from the room below us (the living room/dining area) and also the bathroom and other bedroom on our floor. If it weren't for this I would have given the house 4 stars.

  Funky Palms was a dream come true. This retro Florida style house was simply amazing. The only noise you can hear is the crashing waves. A short path to the beach leads to an empty beach full of shells.Star gazing took up the night, as I never have seen so many stars For the best oysters in the world, it's a short distance to the Indian Pass Raw Bar. Get steamed shrimp to go from St. Joe Shrimp. You can not beat the seafood: the freshness and price! The Funky Palms comfortably fit 81/2 people. It has lots of living and deck space and a full kitchen. ! I can not wait to return! The house was clean and the owner was very accommodating.

  I write his review as I prepare for my third trip to the Funky Palms. My family loves to meet here and spend some quiet time together before the craziness of the Christmas Season begins. We love that the house is large enough for the extended family, yet offers so many little "cubbie holes" for private time. Being just steps from the beach allows the older kids the freedom to run down as they like, while those of us who enjoy a book and a blanket can snuggle up on the couch. My family also appreciates the solitude offered at Indian Pass. In 4 days last year, we only saw about 5 people and on our trip over to St. Vincent, we were the only people on the island for the day. We are so grateful that the owners of this property have chosen to share it with us!

  We had a wonderful stay at Funky Palms! The house was big and open and the screened porch was a great. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We hope to stay here again sometime. We loved the peace and quiet.

  This sweet home is less than 100 yds from a very private beach. It's on a quiet rode at the end of a small neighborhood of eclectic beach homes with only dunes, palms, and beach brush across the street from it. The house next door and visible in the main photograph of Funky Palms (FP) is also a rental (Seaside Shelter) and situated in such a way as to provide plenty of privacy for both homes. I loved waking up each morning, throwing on my bathing suit, and walking the few steps to the beach. Rarely were there more than a half dozen people on the beach and even at that, they were quite a stretch away and involved in their own business. The house itself is cozy, but in need of a little TLC (not enough to have a negative impact on a vacation, though). For example, the yard has aged quite a bit since the pictures were taken and is quite overgrown. But, unless you planned on sitting in the front yard during your stay, it's no big deal. The furniture on the screened-in porch off the family room (sun room?) needs to be replaced or repaired and cleaned. Again, that was no big deal to us because we preferred the air-conditioned inside of the house if we weren't at the beach. There were a couple of maintenance issues (washer gets stuck on refill and the refrigerator's ice maker makes ice, but gets clogged with it), but I notified Barbara and she is taking care of them. On the other hand, we always had plenty of ice and I was able to keep an eye on the washer and do several loads of laundry. The house was well worth the cost. There are ceiling fans in EVERY room that work to create a cool, breezy feel throughout. The A/C worked perfectly. The flooring is bright and colorful tile that made me happy just looking at it. The three beds we used were very comfortable as were the pillows that were provided. The dishwasher worked and I loved the spacious kitchen. We used the outside grill several times, although I wouldn't recommend waiting until dark to grill. Remember, you're in FL - night insects (moths, cockroaches, mosquitos) abound. I recommend using the phone provided in the house as cell reception is spotty. Must do: Daly's Dock & Dive Center for a quick SCUBA class and wreck dive; scalloping if you go before October; shell and driftwood collecting. Watch the sunset at the Port St. Joe Pier! Best places to eat: Cone Heads, Sunset Coastal Grill, Mango Marleys, Joe Mama's, and Bailey's Crab House & Seafood Market. I'd return in a heartbeat!!

  Very relaxing vacation! Kitchen applinances are very nice! Refridge ice maker did not always work. Sleeping accomadations were very confortable. A/C was second to none. Beach was beatifull and very private-real Florida. Saw all kinds of wildlife: birds, crabs, sting rays and a dolphin that made early morning and evening appearances. The water was clean and very warm, I would guess close to 90 degrees. One day during the week there was jelly fish present; but, the water was so clear you could see them coming. I would recommend staying their to a friend!

  A step back in time to an era almost forgetten in modern Florida. So much fun, and so comfortable and convienently located in a wonderful neighborhood with easy access to shopping areas, not to mention the beach! We will stay there again and again. Really can't wait to go back. Wonderful place to enjoy what the Gulf Coast has to offer in the Florida Style we love so much. They use the home themselves and their pride in ownership is apparent.

  We have had the pleasure staying at Funky Palms twice. It is a comfortable "old Florida" house. Close to the beach with great views of the water. You can hear the surf when the windows are open. The house is located in a quiet subdivision. We enjoyed shelling on the beach, riding bicycles to the boat ramp and just relaxing. The owners were helpful if any issues arose. Excellent dining options in Apalachicola and Port St Joe. The Indian Pass Raw Bar is within 5 miles.
