We have just returned from our second amazing stay at Anchorage. I first discovered this wonderful place two years ago when I trawled the internet for the perfect villa in Barbados. I read the reviews for many Villas but I was impressed by the consistently good reviews for Anchorage. The reviews are true. We once again enjoyed the hospitality and fabulous cooking of Ernesta, she really does make the best Pancakes, Chicken Curry and Rum Punch on the island. The gardens are kept to an immaculate standard by Geoffrey. We would recommend a trip to the following: a catamaran trip with stiletto cruises, the animal flower cave, Mama Mia pizzeria, the Fish Pot, the soup bowl at Bathsheba, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, the Earthworks Pottery, the abandoned North Point Surf Resort and Sunbury Plantation House. The pictures do not do the villa justice, the first time that I walked into the open plan lounge that has views out to the pool and gardens my jaw actually dropped. It is stunning. The Sandy Lane Beach is on the doorstep and the private cabana (with a fridge for water, Banks Beer and Ernesta's Rum punch) is a god send. Be sure to look out for the original pineapple man. We received excellent communication from David and Vicki, the owners, in the run up to the holiday who can help with hire car etc. We hope to return soon to enjoy another holiday in paradise.

I have been vacationing in Barbados from time-to-time since 1974. I have stayed at the Sandy Lane Hotel almost exclusively. I have had only positive experiences on these vacations, but our most recent stay at the Anchorage was among the most enjoyable. The home was as advertised, and the staff was better than advertised. Our seven year-old daughter loved every minute of the week we spent in Barbados. The beach is within easy walking distance and the superb golf course is just up the road a bit. We were there in April; the weather was excellent, and the pool was used often.

Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers.

Anchorage upon entering the gates of the villa just took our breath away! Lovely Ernesta greeted us with her warm welcoming smile and showed us through the front door, we were in awe just looking at everything around us. We were thrilled with everything. The master bedroom was huge - had lots of closet space, beautiful drapes and lovey bedlinens. The bed was the biggest we have ever seen and it was so comfortable. The master bathroom was nice and airy with a very large walk in shower which was great. The bedrooms were air conditioned, and if you didn't want that, there was a quiet fan overhead which was very nice. The kitchen was very well equipped with lovely high end dishes, glasses, cutlery and gorgeous professional appliances to work with. There was nothing missing. The entire house was very airy and immaculately clean. The garden was lush and tropical with a beautiful pool with lots of loungers in different areas around the pool - so you could move around with the sun and shade. There also was a covered veranda off the living room area which had a lovely seating arrangement that overlooked the pool and surrounding gardens which was entirely private. Ernesta the housekeeper /cook was very special, she was good humoured, kind and was able to produce gourmet style food and always had a smile. The gardens were manicured 6 days per week by Geoffery who was very friendly and conscientious about his work. The cabana on the beach was well equipped if you wanted to bring a picnic to the beach - it could be stored in the fridge until you were ready for it. The beach was beautiful and the water was almost luke warm. We visited the Tides Restaurant which was fantastic, and also Calabaza - both were very exotic and beautiful. We would highly recommed this property which is very conveniently located - a short walk to the beach, and restaurants close by, also the supermarket and shops were also close by. The bus service is very cheap and you can hop on one to anywhere in either direction along the coast. The owners were extremely helpful and very nice and answered numberous questions that we needed to know before our trip. Everything you will ever need is at Anchorage!
