THE GATED COMMUNITY
The rental is private, quiet, quit new and within a small private community. There are many accesses for swimming and ocean viewing that is a short walk or bike ride away from our rental. It is a tropical setting and the houses present a variety of architecture fitting this lush setting. Many of the properties have visible ponds on their property. The ocean surrounding the community is affected by the nearby volcanic action and many of the ocean areas are heated. The Champagne Pond is like a huge heated swimming pool with some topical fish and often a few turtles thrown in. Great place for beginners to night dive as it is somewhat closed off from the ocean, very calm and safe but yet circulates well during high and low tides. Many of the roads within the community are tree covered and walking is a favorite past time here.
THE RENTAL UNIT
The studio is set up for light cooking and there are both inside and outside eating tables. Outside has a large picnic table that seats 8 and has outdoor furniture for reading and relaxing. The interior has an enclosed bathroom with a bath tub/shower. There is also an outdoor, hot/cold, shower available. Inside has comfortable seating for 5 and a queen side bed.
OUTSIDE OF OUR COMMUNITY
There are hiking opportunities on the lava filed to the light house, historic sites and within bike riding there is an area called Vacation Land that has excellent snorkeling and coral viewing in protected reef ponds. Biking further will take you to the Queens Pond which is a County Park with a large thermal heated Ocean pond. Further yet is Pohiki County Park that has many covered picnic sites, surfing accesses and thermal warm salt water swimming at the boat ramp.
The Volcano National Park is about 45 min. away. North Kona Hotels are about 2 hrs away using the Saddle Road that goes between the two extinct volcanoes. Kailua, Kona and Kona Airport are around 4 hours away.
Pahoa Town is approximately 10 minutes away and offers some good restaurants, Sunday Markets, Shopping, Health Food and Grocery Markets along with the usual takeout pizza, Subway and Coffee establishments.
Historic Hilo Town offers more dinning, shopping opportunities and a great Wed. and Saturday Farmers Market. There a several nice parks and museums in town. There are two movie complexes, the Old Palace Theater and often Hilo University events. Hilo even has a free Zoo.
Beyond Hilo is the lush and beautiful Hamakua Coast with several quaint towns, parks, botanical gardens and more waterfalls than is imaginable.
Truly the best place to stay on the east side of the Big Island.

Great water feature. I like our pool, and going to the more public pools. Gated community makes for great walks. Place is picture perfect with a climate to match.
Push #091 and we will Open the gate for you. Stay to your left and we are the 1st house on the right. There are several large trees and we are behind he stone wall. Turn in and park on the grass.
