  Coming from Minnesota, we are always hopeful that when we travel some distance our VRBO selection meets our expectations. Being that this rental was in one of favorite places, Beverly Shores, we anticipated having a great time. Our expectations were exceeded. The Marys have provided a retreat as warm and comfortable as any home you may find. From the cozy living room with a great fireplace to the bright and cheery kitchen to the private outdoor spa, it all made for a great long weekend. If we could arrange for more trips, we would like to soak in the views and soak in the spa each season. Thanks Mary and Mary for opening your special place to us. carol & oliver

  We had a lot of fun. The beach is close by. It was really chilly but we still had fun. We really enjoyed the fireplace. Everything was very clean. The grill outside was great to use! We spent a lot of our time by the fireplace, taking walks, and playing games in the dining room. The screened in porch was really nice as well.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

  Thank you. I enjoyed my stay very much. The house was beautiful! I had a great time, my only regret was that I couldn't stay longer. I had a wonderful birthday weekend though. It is a great location, and already wanting to come back. I just can't say enough good things about it, I had an amazing time and want to thank you so much for everything!

  I was going to send you an email today and your's showed up! Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your home. What a wonderfuly relaxing time we had, it made our Thanksgiving so memorable. We really love the area, did some Black Friday shopping in Valpo and great people there! Had an encounter with a deer one evening, she was standing in the woods, just staring at me! Fire place really warmed our bones Friday as the Temps went from 62 to 36 in 24 hours. We are already considering our Thanksgiving next year and we will be in touch if we come your way again. Wonderful home!

  My fiance and I had a lovely weekend here! The property was very well-kept and extremely clean. The hot tub and fireplace were perfect for the cool fall days and the beach is just a short walk away. We also enjoyed walking and hiking all over the area. The kitchen was stocked with cooking necessities and the grill was easy to use. The owners are extremely organized and leave lots of useful instructions. The property is also only 90 minutes from Chicago, which makes this an ideal retreat from the city. From start to finish, our rental experience was positive and easy. We will be back!

  Mary and Mary, Thank you for a relaxing R&R in the dunes. Your cozy home, especially the spectacular fireplace, was such a great place to escape the city. Close to the beach, and nestled in the natural dunes park, such a peaceful locale. Your certainly provide for, and anticipate the needs of your guests!   We stayed at the cottage the last weekend in March and enjoyed ourselves very much. It's located a short walk from the beach where we spent many hours (it has been such a nice Spring this year), as well as a short walk from the train station (we took a morning train to downtown Chicago, visited Shedd Aquarium, and made it back to cottage by dinner time). Our evenings were spent in the hot tub or playing many board games available in the cottage. Kitchen is well equipped and helped reduce the cost of eating out. Very peaceful and relaxing place. We will try to come back again.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  Dear Mary and Mary, Thank you for letting us stay in your house. We had a blast, including great time on the beach (would you believe it - in March/April?!?!?!), taking a train trip to Chicago to visit Shadd Aquarium, and soaking in the hot tub. I hope we left the house in a satisfactory condition. We love your house and our 2 families plan on coming back in the future.

Things to Know about @The Shores 1. Keys The outside door’s lock is the top one. Your key is located in the lock box at the front entrance on the doorknocker. To get the key, enter the four digits that were supplied to you in your confirmation letter. Then press down the latch at the top of the keypad on the cover. Open. If you make a mistake, press the clear key and try again. When you vacate, reverse the procedure. The key for the garage is in the foyer hanging on a peg. Please leave it there for the next guest. 2. What to do in the area Brochures can be found in the top drawer of the living room buffet. 3. Plumbing Please be kind to our old pipes, throw only toilet paper down the toilet. 4. The spa is ready to go. Please heed the warnings attached to the cover of the spa. After your last spa, buckle down the cover at the buckles. The spa may not be operational November – February or dependant on weather conditions. 5. HVAC Depending on the weather, the thermostat may be set low or off. When you arrive you may have to adjust the temperature to your comfort level. When you leave please turn the heat/air off or set to 55, depending on the season. 6. Indiana Blue Law On Sunday there are no liquor sales in liquor stores, grocery stores etc. 7. The Fireplace Open flue prior to starting a fire. In the up position it is open, in the down position it is closed. Please make sure the fire is not hot or active when you leave and close the flue. Firewood can be obtained during camping season in the area or from the Marathon station. We may provide firewood as a convenience for our renters from November - February. We expect renters to be conservative with the wood and excess wood usage may result in additional costs to the renter. 8. The Outdoor Fire Pit: OFF LIMITS to customers. The owners use this to maintain the property. There are very strict burning laws in Porter County, Indiana, not to mention the liability to us and yourselves in case a fire would spread to our property and/or our neighbors. 9. The Woods Foraging for kindling/wood on the property is prohibited. Do not cut down trees or shrubs because it is considered damage to property. Damage to the exterior landscape will result in reimbursement to the owners. Do not forage for firewood. 10. Extra Blankets, comforters and pillows can be found in the bedroom closets or the built-in cabinet located in the second bedroom. 11. The Shores’ Library We have a small library of books. Feel free to take one if you wish. Leaving a book behind in its place is appreciated but not mandatory. 12. Linens and bath towels are provided. 13. Garbage There is a receptacle for garbage & recycling, please place your garbage/recycling in it prior to leaving the property. Monday is garbage day and we have walk-up service. Recycling is picked up every other week. Please leave the garbage bins accessible so that the garbage person can get to it. 14. The Wildlife As tempting as it is, please do not feed the deer. 15. The Beach (Lake View), continue down Broadway until your hat floats. 16. Pets Obey the local pet rules. 17. Windows and Doors Please close and lock all windows, the sliding glass door and entrance door when you leave the property. 18. Lawn Maintenance Some time during your week stay the lawn will be mowed. Please be accommodating to our service friends. 19. Furniture Placement If you move any furniture, please move furniture back into the original spot prior to leaving. Beverly Shores Rental Community Common Rules 1. Quiet times: No activity between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM 2. Parking: Parking passes are required to park at Beverly Shores designated lots and locations and are not available for renters. At this time, renters may not park at public peach parking lots. Areas include: the Gazebo at the foot of Broadway, Shore Ave. stairs, Drexwood Ave. stairs as well others. 3. Fireworks: Fireworks are not allowed on the town property, beach or rental property. 4. Camp Fires: Fires are not allowed in Porter County, including the beach. 5. Dogs must be on a leash. 6. Public Beach Rules a. Disturbing the peace. It is unlawful for any person or persons to be loud, boisterous or behave in a manner so as to disturb the peace on any public beach or adjacent parking area or the vicinity thereof in the Town of Beverly Shores, Indiana after the hours of 11:00 p.m. and until sunrise. b. Public intoxication. It is hereby declared unlawful for any person or persons in any picnic or beach party to be intoxicated or for any person or persons in any party to behave in a manner to be offensive to the public on any public beach or beaches in the Town of Beverly Shores, Indiana. d. Throwing, depositing or leaving garbage or refuse. It shall be unlawful to throw, deposit or leave any refuse, papers, garbage, bottles or glass upon any beach in the Town of Beverly Shores, Indiana.
