3 Bdrm! Clean,Cozy House - Golf Course, Winery! Volcano Park!

Come stay in our charming, warm and cozy, place surrounded by whispering pines amidst a Hapu'u Fern & Ohia Rain forest. The entire house has just been through a major remodel and everything is sparkling fresh and new. This is the BEST place to stay if you want to visit Hawaii National Park and the most active volcano in the world, because the entrance to our neighborhood is actually within the park itself.
You couldn't be any closer! But more importantly the weather is wonderful. The village is always dark, damp, and dreary but we are just over the crest of Kilauea and it is usually sunny with light occasional mists. Perfect!
Golf, hike, bike and explore! Located in the Volcano Golf & Country Club, the Golf Course the oldest course in Hawaii, I think it's the most unique and beautiful. Where else can you see Nene Geese on the 4th hole?
There is so much to do, you will want to stay at least a few days. Go swim with the turtles at Punaluu Beach just a few miles down Hwy 11. You may want to make this home base for visiting the rest of the island. Kona is 98 miles away, Hilo 28.
Treasure the peace and quiet you will experience being in Volcano. It is a perfect retreat for a writer. Get away from it all! Come visit Hale Kolokea!

My husband , daughter and son-in-law enjoyed a wonderful 4 days here! We really wanted to do a lot of hiking and volcano exploration, esp. my son-in-law, and it was a perfect location! The house was furnished with everything we needed, nice layout, comfortable beds and plenty of room for another 2 people if needed. It was very clean and well-equipped for cooking. The owner was very helpful in answering any questions we had and we heeded her advice to stock up on groceries in Hilo on our way there. There are few restaurants nearby but we knew that ahead of time, hence the grocery trip in Hilo, but we enjoyed Thai takeout on one night and a delicious dinner at Kilauea Restaurant on another. We enjoyed wonderful walks and runs of the neighborhood every morning! We went on a Volcano discovery tour-a whole unbelievable day of seeing the volcano, lava tubes and hiking out to the fresh lava flow which we highly recommend, and my husband and son-in-law went on a trip to the summit of Mauna Kea which was wonderful. We loved the Pesto Cafe in Hilo, went there 2 times and spent a morning at the Hilo zoo as well as walking around at Akaka Falls. All in all we found this a perfect place for getting to explore nature on the big Island. Can't imagine a better spot from which to explore Volcano Nat'l Park. It was a great start to a Hawaii vacation that we will always remember!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Wow! Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. We are so glad. It is great when you can discover so much in just a few days, something that's taken me years. Thank you for staying at our place and taking such good care. We really appreciate it.

We had a great stay at the house. It was very clean and beautiful. The location was great as we traveled back and forth to the Volcano National Park several times as it was raining much of our stay. Great base to be able to travel to the black sand beach in the morning and then do some more exploring in the afternoon so our whole day wouldn't be spent in the rain. We had plenty of room for 6 of us and we all loved this house. It was nice to find some odds and ends in the fridge to be able to put with our meals that we brought to prepare. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed to cook. The birds out there are very entertaining as well. Very glad we chose this rental for our time in Volcano. It was great.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: So glad you had a good time, despite the rain. It's people like you that we love to have stay there. You left the place so nice. Thank you so much!

We stayed in this house for a week. The location is great to explore the Volcano National Park, the Hilo area and the south of the island. The description of the house is very accurate and the pictures give a good impression of the place. The house is very clean and well maintained, and the kitchen is well equipped. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood. Although we had a few rainy days we did a lot of hiking in the National Park. It is wonderful to come to the house in the evening, we felt like coming home. In the evening we were sitting in front of the little fireplace and enjoyed to listen to some music and drink a glass of wine. This is a very good place to be active and to relax! Thank you for letting us stay here!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for staying with us and taking such good care of the place. We love having guests like you and hope you will return to beautiful Hawaii soon.

We stayed here for 2 nights as our base to explore Volcano National Park and to explore Hilo. We had a very nice stay. What a charming house. It's almost like you're transported out of Hawaii and staying in some mountain getaway. I loved the wraparound porch. The kitchen looked like it was recently updated and was well equipped. I appreciated the peace and tranquility. I have to say that everyone is so friendly here. When we went for our morning jogs, everyone we encountered waved hi. It was amazing waking up to the sounds of the birds chirping. One suggestion is to come equipped with food & water. Finding food nearby can be a bit challenging.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I cannot even begin to describe the perfection that is this rental. It's actually more like staying at the private home of a relative. It's an impeccably clean and gorgeous home stocked with everything you can think of. The owners are extremely nice and helpful and accommodating. The location of this house is TO DIE FOR gorgeous. Hopefully the next time we stay in Volcano, we can stay here again! One more time: There is no way to describe how perfect our stay was. Perfect place for our sightseeing vacation. A spectacular 2 hour drive to this cozy, comfortable, and clean cottage. It was everything it claimed to be, close to Volcano National Park, golf, and wine tasting. Just a short drive to scenic Hilo. An even closer drive to a great little gourmet restaurant that started our stay. Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We live in Kona on the Big Island but love to get away to the Volcano area where it is cool in the Summer and crisp in the Fall and Winter. There is nothing like seeing the snow on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa from the upcountry of Volcano. In the summer, the cool air and whispering pines make us feel like we have traveled to some distant enchanted forest. We LOVE IT!
Why the Owner Chose Volcano:
We bought in this location because it is close to home, but a world away. It allows us to get away and forget the hectic pace of everyday life. Volcano is an extra special spot on this planet and once you come and stay a few days, you'll know what I mean.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This property is so close to Hawaii Volcano National Park, you can walk instead of drive. I like to bicycle to the park. Golfing, Wine Tasting at Volcano Winery, snorkeling with turtles at Punaluu, you get it all here. My favorite hike is to Mauna Ulu where you are standing on top of a volcano, smack dab between 2 active volcanoes-Pu'u Oo vent and Halema'uma'u.
