Location: Budapest, Hungary, Europe (Heart of the City - 1 Block to National Museum)

Accommodations:  Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 1-4)

Jeff’s Place is unique in Budapest apartment rental, designed for people like its owner: mature and experienced travelers who care about beauty, coziness, and amenity but feel the impact of increased airfares and decreased value for their dollars or euros and are willing to share the kitchen and common facilities with guests in other units...

A place that doesn’t compromise on comfort; that’s centrally-located, near the major Metros, trams, and buses; that's in a vibrant neighborhood where you can find hundreds of restaurant, galleries, shops and cafes; where coming home at night is a pleasure not a dread; a place that's within walking distance of most sights, yet calm and quiet and restful.

Jeff’s Place sleeps up to 4 guests in the bedroom on beds that don’t compromise either (2 top-of-the-line Ikea queen mattresses; 2 queen convertible sofas with solid (not folding) mattresses (one in the living room, making it function when appropriate as a third independent bedroom); and a full-sized InnoStyle sofabed. 1.5 baths with separate wc. Eat-in kitchen. The most innovative feature of Jeff’s Place is that you pay for only as much of the apartment as you use. A single person can rent it as a one bedroom apartment, year-round at a rate lower than many hostels charge. Additional guests can be added at an even lower per/person rate.

The bedroom has a secure door opening onto the common, comfortable living room; each bedroom has its own desk, small fridge, TV, phone, as well as a bed with fine linens and the same towels used on the Presidential yacht Sequoia. You have access to the common bath (with custom shower, sink, and toilet), wc (with toilet and sink), eat-in kitchen, and lounge area.

The entire apartment is tastefully appointed and has WiFi throughout, flat panel TVs in each bedroom (with cable TV), unlimited International calling and local (pay-for-minutes) mobile phone; small library of guidebooks and leisure reading, and the amenities you expect in a 5-star hotel: a welcome selection of drinks and snacks, toiletries and emergency supplies in the bathroom – from soap to bandaids in the bath, the best coffee you’ve ever tasted (Nespresso coffee system and pods provided) as well as staples in the kitchen, umbrellas and rain ponchos by the door. Heat, air conditioning, all utilities, linens, towels, cleaning weekly and upon departure is all included.

Jeff's Place is a ground floor apartment facing both the street and the building's courtyard, there's easy access from the street and a small outdoor lounge area just outside the apartment's entry from the courtyard.

It brings back to Budapest the Hungarian tradition of the Vendeglö, or guest accommodation. A place where there’s a warm welcome from the host, engaging guests with complementary backgrounds, a cozy place to rest at the end of the day.

The neighborhood is remarkable, at the edge of the center of town (one block from the Kalvin ter Metro station; one block from the Raday utca café, gallery, and pub scene; two blocks from the stunning National Museum and the remarkably renovated central Public Library building). But the surrounding street life is the most intriguing aspect of the neighborhood: an artists’, designers’, and bohemians’ haven.

The Frank Zappa Café is a block away, as is the city’s best Blues café. There’s a design showcase a couple of blocks north with a great atrium café, and the Hungarian architects’ society is just around the corner, with an inexpensive and lovely outdoor restaurant. There are Retro fashion shops, used vinyl record shops, and an Indian Bazaar. Not surprisingly, it’s also a major university center, with the medical school across the street and two of Budapest’s most important universities filling many of the surrounding blocks. A modern full-service neighborhood market (open 365 days a year) sits at the end of the block.

The apartment is designed for mature travelers, with a 10:00 pm noise curfew, and an on-call management staff to address any problem or question you may have. Guests' children are welcome (same rate per child as per adult), but the apartment is not child-proofed and it is not an optimal setting for children younger than 10 or 11. No smoking within the apartment, and no pets.

It’s owned by an American from Colorado and managed by the same staff responsible for some of Budapest’s most expensive and gracious apartments. The collaboration is designed to deliver all the comfort and amenity of those venues to a setting within reach of guests with more limited travel resources.

Why the Owner Chose Budapest

While living in Europe Jeff happened upon this majestic city of Budapest and found it the most beautiful and mysterious of any city he'd visited.
