Why the Owner Chose Irish Beach

We both love living in beautiful places and the Mendocino Coast has few equals. When we purchased the Irish Beach home we were told it has MILLION DOLLAR VIEW. It does!

The Unique Benefits of this House

We loved the sight and sound of the sea and watching the birds suspended in air below our deck. We loved walking the wonderful beach and exploring the woodlands and coves on the Mendocino coast. It is a very healthy place to relax your mind and body. But there are many fun things to occupy your time - movies in Point Arena, dining, hiking, shopping, etc.

We so enjoyed our honeymoon at SurfPerch. The sound of the waves crashing, the birds sailing past, the privacy, the amenities, the hot tub--all made for a wonderfully relaxing stay! The owners were terrific to work with and take care of their home. We'll certainly be back.

We spent a couple of nights at Surf Perch during Ski/Skate Week. I've stayed in Sea Ranch and Mendocino a number of times but Irish Beach was a pleasant surprise. The decks, the windows, the views, and of course the hot tub, and the fact we could bring our dogs! I wish we would have planned for a few more nights. Access to the beach is close and also down a hill so either be ready for a hike or use the key card and drive. The beach allows for a long walk even at high tide. At the suggestion of the owners we went to Queenie's Roadhouse for breakfast in Elk. Great food! We'll be visiting Surf Perch again.

We've been vacationing at Irish Beach rentals probably 20 years or so. We always rent on the bluff and enjoy our stays and have been in most of the rentals. Our favorite is now Surfperch -- we've been there twice -- 12/08 and 04/07. We will return to Surfperch. Last December was just the two of us and we really only used the one bedroom and bath. The time before was with our adult son and his friend. They had the room downstairs and it was perfect! Plenty of private space and great for watching deer, birds and wildlife. We particularly appreciate being able to bring our dog. The kitchen has everything that you need and I really like the kitchen being open to the dining room and the wonderful windows. And, the window seats are the best! We probably won't be back in 2009 but are looking forward to 2010!

We have stayed at the Surfperch home in September 2009 but have rented it four times in the last two years - and will definitely return again. We love the location, view and hot tub! We always bring some friends or family to share the week or long weekend with us. It's a great escape from our busy lives. The view is to die for, the kitchen always well stocked, plenty of firewood for a cozy fire on the cold nights, hot tub location is perfect & private. The private uncrowded beach is great for long walks & drifwood hunting. We highly highly recommend the Surfperch rental home for a comfortable & relaxing experience.

We had the most fabulous time at Irish Beach! The ocean is so serene and the sand is pure white. We spent hours climbing on the driftwood graveyard and on the rocks jutting out of the deep blue. It felt extremely private, as we only saw a few folks during our stay. The house is gorgeous and we all dreamed of calling it our own. It really is the most wonderful place on earth and I will be back with my family for years to come! Thank you so much!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at SurfPerch, and hope we can return. The view, ambience and atmosphere were magnificent, and we entertained ourselves by shopping at the local markets in Mendocino and nearby towns each day, then creating culinary masterpieces by night. each morning we'd light a fire in the stove to warm us as we drank our coffee and watched the fog dispel, admiring the herds of deer on the cliffs between home and ocean. What an incredible way to live. The home lived up to its listing completely, and all of us were quite pleased with the accommodations. This was a rare treat that everyone should enjoy.

Perfect!

Surf Perch is a home like no other. Go ahead. Try to find a spacious home on an ocean bluff with unobstructed ocean views, with three master bedrooms (one of which occupies a whole floor, and two which have their own decks). Found one? Does it have a big kitchen, on-site laundry facilities, a hot tub, is it close to a rising wine country, and does it accept pets? If it has all those things, now it has to beat Surf Perch's very reasonable cost and great hosts. We've been coming to Surf Perch for several years now. This is not one of those fancy homes where you find yourself confronted with acres of pristine white carpet and fragile, expensive "decor". Surf Perch is the comfy place where you can bring family and friends (and even the family dog) for a relaxing weekend, spend all day roaming the nearby beach, the lovely local towns (do an image search on Albion, Elk and Mendocino), and hopping from winery to winery, then come home to watch the stars after a wonderful dinner. I usually have a few foodie friends in tow, and the kitchen is perfect for whipping up a lovely dinner. For those who would rather relax and stay out of the kitchen, there are many excellent restaurants nearby. The planets are so bright at night that on one occasion, Jupiter reflected off the ocean. When we're ready to come in, Surf Perch has lots of places for folks to unwind, either playing games at the dining room table or watching a movie in the living room. One of these days I'll just stay in, read a book, and watch the hawks play in the wind off the ocean, but usually, I want to be out there with them. For families with young children and pets, note that there is a spiral staircase to the lower master bedroom. Put up a babygate and you'll be fine. There may be one at Surf Perch; ask your host. If you're looking for perfect high end white carpet luxury, keep looking. If you're looking for a warm, tidy, comfortable place where you can relax and just be yourself, Surf Perch is your home away from home.

Wonderful Location & Wonderful Owners

Guest: Betty & Kevin (SF Bay Area, California)
Date of Stay: 03/14/08 Review Submitted: 10/27/09

We first rented this house after being told how nice it was by friends who had just come back from a vacation @ surfperch. Since receiving this recommendation, we have rented surfperch at least 4 times, including holding one family reunion there. The house is well appointed, well carried for. The views are awesome (from every room), the beach is both private and close. The wood burning stove makes it cozy and for those who like to cook -- kitchen is a dream and has just about anything you could want or need. On the one occasion where a storm blew part of the roof loose, we told the owners immediately and they had a repair person there w/i hours. I can recommend surfperch enough and we plan on returning as soon as we find time in our work schedules.

This was our second time at Irish Beach and our first rental with Surfperch. The homeowners were extremely easy to work with and the house looks like it does in the photos. We stayed with my in-laws and having a 3BR/3Bath rental was wonderful. The kids loved having the basement suite to themselves and loved the hot tub on "their" deck. We loved not having to share a bedroom with our kids! The upstairs beds were comfortable and the house was clean. The homeowners had notes posted around the house, which I'm sure addressed any past issues renters had encountered. The kitchen cabinetry was older, but was fully stocked with cookware and dishes. The kitchen table was huge and had a great view of the ocean. Irish Beach is a rural, oceanfront bedroom community. We saw whales while sitting on the deck. The kids spent hours and hours on the beach, climbing rocks and exploring the sealife on the beach. The rest of our day was spent reading books, playing games and watching movies (which were all in the house for us to use). It was a wonderful, relaxing time and we felt very comfortable in the house. We made all our meals and didn't leave the property (except for the grocery store) for our four day stay. We did visit Mendocino on our way out of Irish Beach. It is a cute town and was worth the added drive. I felt like we got an amazing value for our rental dollars. You could tell the homeowners care about their place. We would definately consider renting surfperch again and I would recommend the place for families who are looking for a true "get-away".
