From the moment we arrived, the Loft scored a "10". Because NEW WONDERFUL HUSBAND is stationed at Bremerton in the Navy, we were not able to take a lengthy honeymoon. The Loft was the spot we chose for our weekend honeymoon-like hideout, and it was absolutley perfect our stateside "imaginary, private condo on a foreign beach." I am most grateful for the forethought of Sarah, the reservation coordinator, who suggested to my husband a type of romance arrival package that set the mood for the weekend. Rose petals were cast about, a myriad of candles flickered, soft music played inside and out, a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting to be enjoyed! JUST AMAZING! The owners have thought of everything~ The atmosphere was warm, intimate, and cozy. Much thought went into what would a visitor might possibly need, for it is stocked so that it lacked nothing, from sewing kits to can openers... everything one could possibly need is provided. Falling asleep to the moonlit breathtaking view out the wall sized windows at the foot of our bed, was incredibly peaceful, and waking to it, earned my hubby high romance points *wink. We hope to stay for our one year anniversary and reserve the Loft for visiting family when they travel the country to come visit! Oh, and Sarah's suggestion of reservations at the Dock Side Grill-- A MUST! The only reason I took the time to comment... it was something everyone should enjoy!
Owner response:We were so pleased to be able to play a part in your honeymoon plans, and that you chose to stay in The Loft to celebrate what is the beginning of your life together! We wish you much joy and happiness together, and want to thank you both for your dedication and service to our country. Please do come back, and remind us of your first stay, as we'd like to offer you a discounted rate for that service:) Sincerely, Kemp and Cheri

Here's a great find; a place that actually delivers on all promises. The furnishings and amenities are all high quality and the place felt like new. Although certainly it's a good launching point for sightseeing, we had serious reservations about leaving the Loft for long stretches of time, it was too nice to leave Of course the view is the main feature, but the unexpected changing light and weather make sitting in a chair and looking over the bay a full time activity. Were rewarded with a rainbow over Sequim Bay We tried to enjoy every square foot, inside and out, all the cookware, every channel and try every switch ! Not enough in the short amount of time we had, so we'll be back. Thanks Cheri and Kemp for a mini honeymoon, R & J

Thank you for creating such a lovely space where we could celebrate our 1st anniversary. We weren't at all sad when it rained, we just hunkered down for more time in The Loft! The Olympic National Park proved to be spectacular, and we enjoyed snow on the Ridge, hikes to several waterfalls, and the splendour of the Hoh Rainforest. On other days we hiked the Dungeness Spit to the lighthouse, toured Port Townsend, checked out Railroad Bridge Park and visited Victoria. Thanks for sharing such magic!

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at The Loft. We just needed a few days to get away and relax, and this is the perfect place for just that! The views from the loft are beautiful and it is quite peaceful. All the amenities provided are well thought of; the fireplace, heated bathroom floors, mini fridge and grill/ microwave to make our own meals. Being that we went in March we took full advantage of the hot tub! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay once again, thanks!

Cheri & Kemp, (& Hannah!) What wonderful hosts you are! We are rested and rejuvenated from our stayin your "loft"! So many thoughtful expressions of hospitality; the bionoculars, the robes, the fresh flowers... Yesterday we spent the whole afternoon laying on the grass in the sun-enjoying the beautiful weather, the view, & having nothing to do! Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to share an evening with us. We enjoyed meeting you! Tom says, "you've created a spectacular love nest- when can we come back?" Thank You!

Thanks for sharing your "Loft" hide-a-way. What a wonderful way to start our 2 and a half week vacation of the Pacific Northwest. My husband planned this trip 11 months ago, he loves to suprise me about where we are staying...This is one of the BEST!! As many have said before me, nothing has not been thought of. If I could dream up a "special, romantic place" this would be it. All the attention to detail from the beautiful landscape to the incredibly, soft sheets! We ate at the Hwy 101 diner, cute 50's atmosphere and the food was home style good. We did some hiking,Sol Duc, Switchbacks, and a little of Dungeness Spit. We visited Olivers Lavendar Farm-Beautiful! We also went to Port Townsend. Everything we did was quite enjoyable. We had a lovely encounter while on the balcony with a hummingbird. Life here at The Loft is GOOD!

Justin and I had a wonderful week at The Loft. It was the perfect place to spend our honeymoon! Justin did all the planning and everything was a suprise for me until we got here. It was a great suprise! The amenities are great. Perfect to return to after exploring around the peninsula. We enjoyed Port Townsend; walking around Fort Worden and relaxing at the Port Townsend Brewery. We also took the opportunity to take the ferry to Victoria,B.C one day. Great little city, very easy to get around on foot. The weather has been perfect and we would love to come back again soon to see more! Thanks again.

Wish I was here for a romantic getaway as most guests have written about. My story is a little different~ My mom died recently after a 10 year battle with Alzheimers Disease. I was so worn down and worn out that I really needed a change of scenery. As soon as I saw The Loft on VRBO, I knew it would be the perfect place for me to re-new my spirit. I have enjoyed a great combination of sight seeing and just hanging out. I visited the Dungeness Spit, but didn't go all the way to the lighthouse. Went to the Olympic Game Farm- what a hoot! My favorite spot was Railroad Bridge Park/ Dungeness River Audubon Center ~ So beautiful! Thank you to the owners for sharing this little slice of heaven. I hope to return in the fall and bring my husband for that romantic getaway ~ Everything here is first class!

My wife and I too often get consumed by work and other obligations so we were looking for a quiet place to just "get away." We were also celebrating her birthday and our one-year anniversary. I don't know if the pictures on this site do The Loft justice because you can't hear the silence (interrupted only by the ocassional birds) or feel the overwhelming sense of relaxation. We had plans to rent bikes and maybe visit a few wineries (I mentioned these things to the owners before our arrival and they had brochures/directions/etc waiting for us upon our arrival) but, outside of a trip to the arts & crafts festival, we didn't leave The Loft! We watched a few movies, napped, read, relaxed in the hot tub, and just "got away!" For the first time in a loooong time, we went more than 12 hours without thinking about work. The owners' home is only a few hundred yards from The Loft but the layout of the property was done very well and we felt very secluded. The only drawback was the big WSU sticker on one of the owners' cars....Go Dawgs! :) Thank you for an amazing weekend!
Owner response: Geoff, it was very kind of you to take the time to write this great review of our vacational rental. We do really attempt to make everyones' stay in The Loft a great experience. So we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much. Our vacation rental property is a bit unique in that we do live full time here on the same property, so I particulary appreciate your pointing out that The Loft has been situated such that it does, indeed offer privacy and seclusion. We look forward to your coming back sometime; we are enjoying many repeat guests this season which affirms to us that we are accomplishing our goal of making The Loft a premier place to stay while visisting the Peninsula and Sequim. Oh, and in regard to the "drawback" you mentioned, the big WSU sticker on our daughters car...she is a COUG, so what is a parent to do? You missed the COUG MOM sticker on my car:) However, Huskies are always welcome too! Regards, Cheri GO COUGS!

"Miss Picky was happy!" My husband and I stayed at The Loft in august 2010 and loved it so much that we stayed again for our anniversary in March 2011. Let me just say that I am absolutely the pickiest person I know when it comes to lodging. I require total cleanliness, among other things and The Loft delivers not only a super clean space but many other amenities as well. When we arrived the lights were dimmed and there was a lovely note from the owner and fresh flowers on the night stand. We felt so welcomed and comfortable. The bed is dressed in buttery soft Ralph Lauren linens with down pillows and duvet. Totally cozy! The kitchenette is well stocked with dishes and glassware. Cheri and Kemp have thought of everything. Coffee and hot cocoa as well as microwave popcorn are nicely displayed in a basket on the counter. Lindt truffles offered in a small glass dish. The towels were thick and soft as were the bathrobes and rug in the bathroom. Radiant heat in the bath was also a wonderful feature! Love it! The hot tub was wonderful and very private. The view is amazing during the day and at night we watched falling stars (August) and rain clouds and a full moon in March. So quiet and peaceful! Another favorite is the view from bed! Incredible! We took a few day trips. One to Port Townsend and another to Port angeles. Beautiful area to either be quiet or to set out on an adventure. There is lots to do if you so desire. The Loft gets 5 stars from us (me, my husband is not at all picky...) Highly recommend for the discriminating traveler! Response - Apr 10, 2011 Rebecca, Thank you so much for such an amazing review! This was our 2nd stay at The Loft, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you for all the special touches at The Loft, and thinking of all the needs. Thank you also for the dining recommendations. We loved the quiet and serenity here. We also enjoyed the "serenade" from the frogs as we went on the lower drive to your place. We stropped in the evenings, rolled down the windows, and listened for a minute before proceeding on to the quietness of The Loft. Thanks for another great stay! We'll be back!

I live on a lake at home, so I'm used to having a good view. The view from The Loft was stunning, even to me, and I loved feeling like I could see the entire world from bed! The listing on VRBO for The Loft promised alot. I wondered what it would be like compared to all the glowing reviews I read. None of the reviews were lying or exagerating. The Loft is home. This is our honeymoon spot, and I hope we can return here often. Everything was perfect- from the linens on the bed to the lindor balls to the hot tub to the positioning of the TV to the drawers that close themselves to the romantic lighting. We were so very comfortable. Thanks for everything!

"lovely location with great owners!" my boyfriend and i stayed at the loft in late february 2011, after a random snowstorm dumped several inches of snow on the peninsula. realizing that my sports car would never make it up the steep hill to the loft, kemp drove down to the main road to meet us and drive us back up to the loft. he continued to serve as chauffeur to and from my car, so that we could go to dinner that night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. that sort of committment and attention to our needs was unexpected and awesome! the loft space itself is wonderful and well-thought out--great for a couple's getaway. the view from the little deck is amazing. the loft was cozy and perfect; it was hard to leave on our final day. our only quibble, and it's a very small one, is that the lack of a proper range presented a bit of a cooking challenge. we absolutely look forward to another stay at the loft! Your Response - Apr 21, 2011 Hello Elaine, Your visit was a great drill for what we figured we would do if we had snow when guests were scheduled to arrive! Often when it snows we have to use a four-wheel drive and chains to get up our hill, so we were prepared to do whatever it would take to accomodate you and help make your stay enjoyable. Thank you for the kind word and great review; please do come back! Kemp and Cheri

Thank you so much for creating this little piece of the Peninsula that anyone can come and enjoy! We have been here a week and have used The Loft as our home base for daily adventuresinto the park, and though it was a few miles further away then some locations, we cannot imagine having stayed somewhere else! We feel right at home, and enjoyed our time more for having such a beautiful, warm, cozy place to rest in between day trips. In a week we managed to see the Hoh Rainforest, Hurricane Ridge, Lake Cresent, Marymere Falls, Shi Shi Beach, Port Townsend, Dungeness Spit Wildlife Refugeand lots of cute shops and markets!! A week was just long enough for all of this, as some days were needed for resting up! However, we hope to return, as there are tons of hikes we would still like to do... We loved the hikes, but not so much our trip to Port Townsend(didn't feel like shopping!) However the Jamestown Sklallam Native Art Center was fantastic and did part us from some cash ~ and now we have a beautiful print for our home to remind us of the Olympics! Enjoy your time here and bring a great camera... We've seen all these animals: bear, eagle, elk, deer, squirrles, and sea lions! The spit is great for animal spotting! But word to the wise... if you want to see the whales, book your tour before you get here. They were all sold out when I started calling around so we missed out. Well, its time to pack and go. Thanks again Cherri and Kemp and best wishes for many more happy years of running The Loft! This was a great 5th anniversay for us... perhaps we will see you at 10!!

What a wonderful place! We enjoyed every minute of it-so nice to escape the Texas summertime heat. While we were here we went to the whale watching tour from Port Townsend. We saw at least four different whales! The town of Port Townsend is adorable- I recommend everyone check it out. The other day we took a trip to Forks- I am not a Twilight fanatic but I have read the books and It was fun to see the town in person. There is a picnic area along the drive to Forks called La Poel that was beautiful and right off the main road. We also went to Seven Cedars Casino and won a little money (= Thanks again for everything- every detail was perfect- we will be back!

Cheri & Kemp, After reading all these entries it's difficult to think of anything that has not already been said! (Given all of my many queations and emails prior to our visit I know it's hard to believe I am without words:)!) It's hard to convey a feeling...the feeling when we walked through the gate which brought tears to my eyes...that this year-long planned time away was finally here "for real. What was amazing was the pictures on the website were so accurate to the real thing. The views are magnificent, the Loft is perfect and everything we could think of was already here.We are so grateful for meeting Cheri, Kemp and Hannah! This is not just a place to stay - - -it is a home - - - a feeling, an experience. The kindness, warmth, Cheri and Kemp showed complete strangers says more than these words can convey. We recently lost our 14 year old lab, also a Hanna and their Hannah was on board to make us feel better too! Thank you again. We'll not forget our time here and hope to remain friends. Cheri & Kemp, We absolutely loved the Loft. The layout, amenities and decorating are all perfect. Our only regrets are that our stay was too short and we spent on day going to Victoria. In hindsight we would have been better off staying here and enjoy(ing) the breathtaking view. Our first night we took advantage of the grill and kitchen and cooked here. THis was a welcome event after traveling for a week and eating out most meals. If we are ever back in this area we will definitely come back to the Loft. Regards and many thanks, Robert & Ann, Ft. Cheri and Kemp, We came here to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. Steve finds places for us to visit on the internet (vacation rentals). On a scale of 1-10 this is a 20! We've been to a lot of these and only one other one in Franklin NC even compares. Every detail of the Loft feeds the body, soul, mind and spirit. It was hard to decide whether to go "do" something or just enjoy sitting on the deck and enjoy the view. The hot tub and patio are wonderful. It's so nice to have it all to ourselves. We did go to the Olympic National (Park) 2 days. Once up to Hurricane Ridge, and yesterday to Sol Duc. We took a 6 mile hike through beautiful woods. There was every color of green imaginable along with deer who didn't mind that we were intruding on their space. It's a beautiful area and we will return. AND we know where we'll stay! Thanks so much for sharing this space with us. Janet and Steve, Eden Prairie MN

My wife and I just completed a fantastic stay at The Loft. Words cannot adequately describe our wonderful experience. It was better than our expectations and our expectations were very high because of the photos and the other reviews. This is perfect for 2 people. Cheri and Kemp have done an amazing job of building and furnishing this wonderful retreat for two. We have stayed at many, many VRBO properties throughout the U.S., and this one ranks at the very top. Don't hesitate to go...great location overlooking Sequim Bay. You get the forest, the mountains and the water right there at The Loft. Central to visiting the Olympic National Park, taking the ferry to Victoria, going the lavendar farms, visiting Port Townsend. But the best part was just being at The Loft. You go, and you'll understand! We loved it so much that we extended our stay instead of going to Seattle. Thank you Cheri and Kemp. We hope to visit again! Steve & Janet
Owner response:Dear Steve and Janet, As much as you appreciated staying in The Loft, it is only half as much we appreciate you taking the time not only to write in our Guestbook in The Loft but also to go home and post this wonderful review for others to read. As we have used VRBO in the past to find vacation spots ourselves, we fully understand the apprehension involved in renting a place and then hoping that when you arrive, it is at least as good as portrayed online. That is reason we have posted so many pictures actually taken from The Loft. To us, it is worth the extra expense; not because we are so proud of The Loft, but because we believe that guests considering a home should be able to fully view all aspects of that home. When we created The Loft, our goal was to make it a place that would provide everythinig to our guests that we would hope to find in a vacation home ourselves. We do feel that we accomplished that and truly do enjoy spending time there ourselves. Several guests such as yourself have suggested that we post a video on VRBO. We are looking into that now and perhaps even a 360 degree virtual tour. That really would solve the problem we have of trying to describe how great The Loft is and expecting people to believe us, the owners! We genuinely hope to have you come back and stay sometime. We enjoyed meeting you and again, we thank you for your review and for making the effort to submit it. Kemp and Cheri

I recently stayed at the The Loft and the property exceeded my expectations (which were already high from the online photos and guest comments). The location is great, the view is spectacular and the accommodations are amazing! The Loft is the perfect private retreat for single travelers as well as couples. I've already recommended this property to my friends and definitely plan a return trip. Cheri and Kemp have created a perfect paradise with everything one could need and more!!!!
Owner response:Diane, Thank you for your great review of TheLoft. We continue to be rewarded by the positive reactions of our guests when they arrive here, and then the wonderful feedback that we receive from guest comments such as yours. Building our business has been fun and we very much appreciate guests from around the local Puget Sound area. This weekend we even have someone from Sequim! It was a pleasure to have you here, thank you for taking such good care of TheLoft and we look forward to welcoming you back! Kemp and Cheri
