Julie is so great to work with. She just goes above and beyond to make sure everything goes smoothly. We had such a wonderful time at the house in Red Bluff. It is spacious and has tons of beds. The living area is roomy and the kitchen is huge. My family loved the chance to be together especially at Christmas time. It was such a treat to sit on the couch in the living room and look out the huge window to the back yard, ( forest?) and watch the deer families pass through so close you felt you could reach out and touch them. We will definitely stay again. Thanks Julie!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much, how kind you are !!!! How wonderful to be able to be all together. Many thanks!

We had a wonderful time, everything was great. We all enjoyed the animals from the youngest to the oldest person. We saw deer, turkeys, jack rabbits, squirrels, lizards and even a skunk. It was so restful. The weather was just right for the wedding in Anderson. Thank you for such a nice place. The pictures were just like the place,no surprises very clean and well-maintained. The owner was great! I would highly recommend this propertyRecommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, people with disabilities, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much Darlene, we're so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and that you liked the animal visitors as well as the house. This is why we do what we do, to know that our guests truly feel like they had a great get-a-way.

We had a great time at the house. It was very clean and fairly kid proof (We had three toddlers). The only thing lacking was a lawn for the kids to play in the sprinklers.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children.

My sisters and I stayed for the weekend. The Salmon King Lodge had plenty of room, for all three families, (with an infant and three toddlers), including our parents. There was lots of room outside for the kids to run and lots of room in the kitchen. Plus its only five minutes from "Scoops", the local ice cream shop! Highly recomend it and we will diffinately be coming back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

We couldn't find anything within reason in Chico or Oroville and found this retreat on VRBO. We stay in VRBO homes all the time and this was one of the best. Very clean, lots of beds, well stocked (need a coffee grinder) and close to Shasta Lake where we spent a whole day on a patio boat. It was a good 45 minutes to Chico for the ceremonies...but we'd do it again. Much nicer than any hotel and we could cook, visit, hang out...just be together.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children.

We arrived in Red Bluff for a family funeral- all of us from 2-4 hours away- and one of the members of our family is chronically ill. While not the best of circumstances, the property was better than described. The property is obviously well maintained. When we walked in, we were greeted by a pleasant freshly cleaned smell and a set of menus on the breakfast bar. Each bedroom was fully furnished and had extra linens, the bathrooms sparkling clean with plenty of extra towels in the hall cupboard. The kitchen and dining room accommodated all in our party of 9 (using the breakfast bar) during meals. The living room was spacious and comfortable. My father, who is ill, was able to relax in comfort and greatly enjoyed the patio area. There was plenty of room for our 2 dogs to play in the yard. Conveniently located and far enough from the other neighbors to guarantee privacy. The owners were always very quick to respond to questions and the key was exactly where they said it would be upon arrival. While we were not visiting under the best of circumstances, we plan to return in the near future. I would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of visiting the area.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.
Owner response: I'm honored by your review, and only too pleased that the house provided comfort and a bit of cheer to all of you during an otherwise sad circumstance. Thanks for staying with us!

The owner was very gracious and accessable, answering any questions promptly. We had plenty of room to play games, eat, etc. (We did rent a couple of 6' tables and chairs). We rented the house for a week (11 people sleeping there), as a place for family and friends to eat, play, and hang out (some were in motels). It was a week long 60th anniversary party, and there were people in and out from all over the country. We brought an extra TV for one of the bedrooms for the kids to watch movies and play games. That worked out very well. Everyone loved watching the deer (a lot at times) crossing the back of the property, and the wild turkey that passed by. We also rented a bouncy house that was set up in the back of the house. We really enjoyed it there, and would rent it again whenever we need more room. It was perfect. We enjoyed our stay there immensely.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children.

We rented this house for 2 nights last month. This was the most beautiful, clean and well maintained house we had ever rented. The natural surroundings are amazing. We had planned to hike in the Lassen National Park for two days, but we liked the house and the surroundings so much that we decided to stay in and around the house for one whole day. If I ever plan to go to Lake Shasta, I will surely rent this house and drive from there. Now about the owners... The owner is the most welcoming, soft-spoken and courteous person you can ever imagine.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

"What can I say! I know many of the mom and pop cafes shops have gone by the way-side due to the influx of these places, but, when we lived in the heart of Silicon Valley as a former compadre and daily partaker of multiple Venti Mocha something or the other's, I cannot protest too much, especially as my friends are baristas. The scary thing is, we now have one at the first and last exits to our little many horse town!"

"This place is a local institution from back in the day when cars cruised down the main drag. Great burgers, soft serve cones, shakes, fries & combos. Once, after I had surgery in Redding, in my semi -conscious state on the drive home Bill asked me If he could get me anything, I said "yeah a junior combo at Buds", talk about food on the brain!!!"

Alger Vineyards Tasting Room
"Wonderful home grown wines in a casual loft style tasting room. The hosts are fantastic, we're very fond of several of their wines, one is called a Lusty Red, the other we call " Devil with the Blue Dress on". The tasting room is usually open on Sat & Sun. Several times a year they also do a great prix-fixe 3 course lunch menu + bottle of wine for under $36 per pair, you cannot beat that. We had my birthday picnic on the grounds and even brought in our own food, I hope to do that there every year! Tell them we sent you! Plus Manton is a totally off the beaten track little gem of a hamlet to investigate."

About: We own and run Salmon King Lodge of Red Bluff, the north states'only B & B devoted to outdoor enthusiasts and their families. Our primary business is as fishing guides, outfitters and B & B hosts, where we create great fishing adventures for customers of all ages. Our customers stay in our beautifully appointed private guest house which sleeps up to 14 people. During the times that we have lodging openings we make the guest house available as a vacation rental. In our previous life we spent 20+ years in Silicon Valley creating the foundation that would allow us to start the next chapter of our lives (while we were young enough and had the energy). We actually are doing what we love to do, we consider ourselves totally blessed, most days we can't believe we get to do this everyday. It's vastly different than our previous silicon valley lifestyle.
Why Red Bluff:
We desired to find a close and private location to better accommodate our fishing guests and their families.Once our Salmon species declined, and we branched out to other fishing regions, we thought the property would be a fabulous guest rental.
The Unique Benefits at this Guest House:
Beautifully & fully appointed with distinct lodge flair, deer and turkey abound. Private ranch style home set back from private road on 8+ acres.
