Property Exterior

This architecturally significant Normandy family estate was completed in 1985 by Fernando Burmeister, a principal assistant and collaborator of the world renown master architect Oscar Niemeyer. Niemeyer, considered one of the most important figures in international modern architecture, is most famous for his design of Brazil’s new capital city of Brasilia: spacious and exposed, a masterwork of planning and building.

The 2,000 square feet estate house, almost chapel like in its secluded setting, is warmly nestled into a sea of green; 10,000 sq. meters of rolling park-like lawns and meadows are punctuated with maple, cherry, apple and oak trees, and flowering rhododendrons, with plenty of space for children to play, for your family and friends to picnic in one of two gazebos, or to just sit outside and soak up the northern French sun.

When you enter this peaceful, modern family retreat, sweep past the delightfully, sun-lit interior tropical garden directly down to the sunken, over sized living area. Gather here with family and friends, and enjoy afternoon cocktails around the floor to ceiling grey-slate fireplace, as the golden Norman light blushes through the wall of French doors and windows, and dances upon the 20-foot cathedral ceilings. As the sunlight wanes, step up into the formal dining area for an evening of hearty food and good conversation around the marble dinner table, which comfortably seats six to eight, and has direct access to the expansive, fully equipped, gourmet kitchen. After dinner, why not step outside onto the terrace – directly from the dining or living areas – and with a glass of brandy enjoy the stars as they pop out into the northern French sky? When your day is done, take a hot, refreshing shower, or relax in the sunken bathtub, in one of the two fully appointed bathrooms. Then retire to one of three entry level bedrooms, two with queen and one with twin sized beds. Or … perhaps you’d rather climb the spiral staircase to the entertainment mezzanine, which spans the entire interior and overlooks the dining and living areas, There, make plans for the next day’s sightseeing, read for awhile, or watch world-wide programming on the flat screen TV.
