Super stay in Point Reyes

Guest: Abby (Marin, California)
Date of Stay: 03/09/12 Review Submitted: 03/12/12

We have just returned from staying in Lavender House Cottage. The cottage is really lovely, and bigger than we expected (there were six of us staying, with two kids sleeping on the sofa bed in the sitting room, and there was plenty of space for us all). The photos do not do it justice. The double sitting room was a real bonus, as the kids could watch a film from the sofa bed, and the adults could sit in the other half of the sitting room. The cottage was spotless, and everything worked well: excellent shower, lovely EO products to use, comfy beds (including the sofa bed), and the kids enjoyed the hot tub in the garden. And very close to restaurants in Point Reyes, perfect for arriving hungry on a Friday evening. I would thoroughly recommend this property to others.

Owner response:Thank you .........we look forward to your return! Eileen and Martin Lavender House Cottages

I really enjoyed my stay. My boyfriend, dog and parents had a wonderful weekend staying in this house. We did great hiking, ate great food and really loved having a Jacuzzi at the end of a long day. The photos of this house simply don't do it justice. It is just lovely in person.

Charming cottage getaway

Guest: Jack (San Francisco, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/04/11 Review Submitted: 11/19/11

The property appeared just as described in the review. Located in beautiful Point Reyes, the cottage was well-cleaned, quiet, charmingly decorated. The property owner provided a number of amenities (including bathrobes, soap/shampoo, slippers, guidebooks to the local area, etc.) that made the unit feel comfortable and welcoming. The cottage comes with a nice backyard and hot tub. The owner provided a brief tour of the property upon our arrival, but otherwise respected guests' privacy during our stay. I would highly recommend staying at Lavender House Cottages. With easy access to Point Reyes (along with restaurants, shops, and markets) as well as the surrounding natural beauty of Marin County, the cottage makes a wonderful romantic retreat, or a great place to get away with a couple of friends. We would definitely stay there again.

Charming, Cozy and Convenient

Guest: love to travel (Billings, MT)
Date of Stay: 10/19/11 Review Submitted: 10/21/11

We loved staying at this cozy little house. It is beautifully furnished with thoughtful attention paid to a traveler's every need right down to books, magazines, travel guides, bath products, black-out blinds and binoculars. It is a quick walk to main street ,where restaurants are located and an hours drive to Sonoma. The back patio and hot tub were thoroughly enjoyed by us and our little one loved crawling around the fenced back yard. The charcoal grill and kitchen appliances were top notch, as was everything in the home actually. If we have the opportunity to stay here again, we would grab it without hesitation.

Owner response:So happy you found us and we hope to see you again!

Perfect vacation getaway!

Guest: Paish (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 10/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/19/11

Lavender House was wonderfully relaxing vacation getaway for the 4 of us. There was thoughtful attention to every detail in providing guests with a comfortable enjoyable stay. The location was perfect. The house was a quiet street yet just around the corner from the restaurants and shops. The front yard garden and back yard were lovely, the kitchen was the most fully equipped ever and all the linens were high quality. We also appreciated the variety of good books, many with information on the area. Our host Eileen was delightfully welcoming and helpful. We will look forward another stay. Many thanks!

Owner response:Thanks Paisha, We look forward to you and your lovely friends' return! Eileen and Martin Lavender House Cottages hosts

Lavendar House was Terrific!!

We spent a terrific four nights at Lavender House last week. It was very clean, well decorated and offered all the amenities from Peets cofee in the fridg to luxerious bath towels, and bedding. The owner was very helpful in suggesting hiking in the area. The Tomales Bay Trail was spectacular. We would highly recommend a stay there!

Owner response:Thank you Dale! Lots more trails to explore when you return!

Our favorite rental in the Point Reyes area

Guest: Anonymous (Oakland)
Date of Stay: 04/08/11 Review Submitted: 04/13/11

My family (two young children) has stayed at five places in Point Reyes, Inverness, and Olema, and this is our clear favorite. The restored Craftsman has lovely character details: original hinges on the doors, a wainscoted dining room now converted to a second living room with the original china display ledge. The amenities were great: very plush towels, slippers and sandals, comfortable duvets, a selection of local cheeses waiting in the refrigerator (including my local favorite, Point Reyes Blue), a recently renovated and nicely equipped kitchen, all the beds (including the pullout couch) were very comfortable. The location (literally) next to central Point Reyes Station is very convenient, and we didn't fully appreciate its benefits until we arrived there: I walked quickly for pastries and coffee in the morning, we walked to the nearby playground with the kids for an hour before dinner, we took our son to the toy store and bookstore when he started getting restless, we could have wine at Stellina since no one had to drive back, we bought groceries a few minutes before dinner. We typically like to explore new houses, but this is the first place we will surely return to.

Owner response:It is our pleasure....... So happy you enjoyed your stay! Eileen and Martin

Wonderful Stay

Guest: Juanita (Mountain View)
Date of Stay: 09/24/10 Review Submitted: 11/01/10

My fiancée (at the time) and I stayed at the Lavender Cottage for a friends wedding. The reception was held at a restaurant on the main street and we were very happy to see we were walking distance from the site. The house was perfect and was exactly what we were looking for. We had the added bonus of the hot tub and the nice deck. We had a great time at the house and we're definitely coming back when we're in the area. Thank you again for everything! Juanita and Hector Gonzalez

Owner response:Thank you Juanita! And, Best Wishes to you and Hector on your wedding! Eileen and Martin

Just what we needed to get away and relax

This cottage was so warm and inviting and filled with everything you'd ever need. We LOVED the craftsman-style look and the feel of the place. The private Hot tub in the back yard and the claw-foot tub were a nice bonus too :) We also absolutely LOVED the location. A 1-3 minute walk to just about any of the great shops and restaurants and the local market which we could get anything you could find at almost any regular supermarket, but this one has a much nicer small-town feel. Also conveniently located to tons of trails and hiking (We hiked out to Arch Rock at Pt Reyes-- stunningly beautiful!). Although the cottage was so close to town we could still sleep with the window open and it was so quiet and peaceful. Overall this was the perfect spot for my wife and I and our daughter to get away and relax. Eileen and her husband are just a stone's throw away if you need them for anything and they are so friendly and helpful and informative. We shall plan to stay here again should our travels bring us back to the area.

5 star accommodations in a World Class Park

Guest: Stephanie & Jay (Corte Madera, CA)
Date of Stay: 06/26/10 Review Submitted: 07/15/10

I am always pleading for a day trip to Point Reyes, one of the most beautiful, easily accessible parks in the Bay Area. Until Lavender Cottage, we've had mixed experiences with our overnight stays- some too funky and some too expensive with attitude. Eileen and Martin have renovated an original vintage cottage with a design sensibility that you don't find in western Marin. The location is perfect, whether you choose to enjoy the park, downtown restaurants, the coast, or a hot tub and elegant meal at home. The accommodations are flexible enough to accommodate a small family or group of close friends who seek to appreciate the best Point Reyes has to offer.

My mother and I stayed in this adorable cottage for our birthday celebration. We had the best time. The owners thought of everything. So many nice touches. Very comfortable home. Loved the robes, slippers, lotions and toiletries and the fruit!! The beds were very comfortable. The claw foot tub was amazing. We enjoyed massages in the afternoon right in the living room. The home was very well decorated. We loved the hot tub under the stars. We will definately be back for another visit. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

Wonderful Visit

My wife and I spent a long weekend at the Lavender House a few weeks ago. It was our first trip with our 4 month old daughter and I couldn't imagine a better place. The house was ideally located right in town and Eileen and Martin were wonderful hosts. The house is beautiful, and we took advantage of the fully stocked kitchen and roomy backyard. We also brought our French Bulldog and he had a great time hanging out in the fenced-in yard.

Owner response:Thank you Patrick, we hope you'll be back soon! Eileen and Martin

What a magical place - the warmth, the ambiance and the efforts of the owner to ensure that you are eveloped in serenity, are awesome. I reluctantly dragged myself away from the cottage and when I visited the Cowgirl Creamry, I was struck by the number of languages spoken - I had no idea of the international popularity of this amazing cheese shop in the village, just a short walk from the cottage. Next time I will stay longer and soak up the local flavor, slowly, very slowly. Can't wait to go back. . .greetings from Connecticut

I stayed at the cottage over the long New Year's weekend with my family. I was very impressed with the lovely decor, the well equiped kitchen and the overall comfort and warmth of the cottage. We enjoyed the hot tub, the evening sunset from the front porch and the peaceful walking trails. The cottage is within walking distance from the village which is so convenient. There are nice shops, a market, a creamery making local cheese and nice restaurants. The local winery produces wonderful wines which we enjoyed in the evening watching the sun set. The Pacific Ocean is a short drive away where we hiked through beautiful trails with spectacular views. I look forward to my next vacation at The Lavender Cottage soon.

We stayed at the lavender cottage for the weekend of Thanks giving and had a wonderful stay. The cottage is charming, really well decorated and well equipped. We also enjoyed the nice jacuzzi in the back yard, the robes and sleeper for each guest... We highly recommend it and we look forward to come again. Thank you.
