Beautiful and very spacious house. The location is perfect, close to the park and to the town, and yet in the middle of the nature. The view is amazing!

Skylark, Joshua Tree, CA

I am so pleased to have been introduced to Skylark of Joshua Tree. My wife and I visit this area every other year. We either camp or go to a hotel and work with the limitations of either. Skylark is a much preferable alternative. It fills the void of "the desert house we'd most like to have". We loved it and can't wait to go back.

Owner response:How sweet! I'm happy you found a place you'd like to call your own. I look forward to your next visit, and thank you for your wonderful comments about skyLark. All the best!

Just What We Needed

Four of us spent the better part of a very relaxed and wonderful week at Skylark. It suited our needs perfectly. The rental was very spacious, well designed, and well equipped for what we needed. And the location could not have been better--with Joshua Tree National Park literally out the back door and expansive views across the valley out the front. We all enjoyed going into the park everyday and then returning to prepare a large and leisurely dinner as the sun went down and the stars came out. We would stay here again--and hope to do so.

Owner response:I hope you'll stay at skyLark again too! Your stay sounded superb, and, of course, I'm pleased you were pleased. Hope to have you again soon. My best regards to you and yours, Susan

We've stayed at a few other houses in Joshua Tree and this house was by far the best. Perfectly equipped, comfortable, lots of space and amazing property. We're definitely going back to this house.

Owner response:Please visit us again! It's just what skyLark needs -- happy guests who leave with happy memories. I look forward to your next visit to skyLark. Warm best wishes, Susan

Lovely spot on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park

This house was excellent! Plenty of room for a large family (not quite enough bathroom space--but we made it work), plenty of pots, pans, and utensils, etc. 5 minute walk to the hills and peaks of Joshua Tree. Spent many wonderful days climbing those rocks. The views are spectacular. Good privacy too, tucked well-back off the main road. Highly recommend this spot.

The owner was very helpful and worked with us when we changed because of weather. She had a great book with dining and local suggestions.. We are both artists and appreciated her great design sense. It was very clean and exactly as mentioned. We loved the easy access to the rocks. The kitchen was well stocked. We had a wonderful time. I would recommend it for a couple or small family. There is only one bathroom, so we wouldn't stay with another couple. Totally loved the easy access and our time in the National Park. We have been there twice before . It is now our current favorite.

We will definitely be back!...

My husband and I booked Skylark for our 30-person wedding reception without ever seeing it in person. Let me tell you, it is even better than in the pictures! We had such a wonderful time and fell completely in love with the home and its serene surroundings. We wish we could have stayed much much longer. Next time we are back in California, we absolutely want to come back. Susan was exceptionally accommodating, understanding, and helpful. Thank you again and again for the great memories, Susan!

Owner response:So happy skyLark was more than you hoped for, and I appreciate what great guests you were. I do hope you and your husband will be returning for a romantic get-away soon.

Beautiful light and spacious house right on the edge of the National Park. We particularly enjoyed sunrise and sunset walks down the desert wash right in the back yard. Our new Joshua Tree favourite.

Owner response:And you traveled so far to get to skyLark! Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed skyLark and for sharing your review. I look forward to having you as a guest again soon!

The house was great! Such quality attention to detail in decor and color. It felt like home right away for us. The house is right next to endless boulders to adventure into. Also it's conveniently located several minutes to both entrances to the park. I'm looking forward to staying here in the future!! Thanks Susan :)

Amazing Value

Guest: Paul (Marin County, CA)
Date of Stay: 04/09/11 Review Submitted: 08/26/11

This place is immaculate comfortable and surprisingly roomy. 2 bedrooms, 1 big, with quality beds, The location is the kicker: better than described for nature lovers, photographers, walkers, and rock scramblers. Nothing behind you but Joshua-Tree mountains, great access to wilderness. Mornings are filled with wildlife. Landscaping is nice for a home this inexpensive. 60s furniture is a surprising fun bonus. TV in master bedroom only made it easy to keep the kids focused on vacation. Bring an IPOD for the nice kitchen stereo. Of the dozen vacation rentals our family has visited, this was one of the best homes, one of the best locations, and one of the lowest prices.

In January 2011, I spent the weekend here with five of my girlfriends and it was fantastic. The space is beautiful. The view is great. We had such an amazing time. The kitchen was stocked better than any of ours at home. There was TONS of sleeping space. We ended up with two people in the big bedroom, one person in the smaller bedroom and then two people on the futons. EVerything was easy and clear. It was a fantastic experience. Thanks so much!

We Love Staying at Skylark!

Guest: AJ (Pasadena, CA)

The modern architecture of the house, the unique art collection, the well-appointed and clean amenities, the friendly, professional and accommodating contact person, the Joshua tree location, are some of the reasons we love making this our retreat. It's not too far from Los Angeles, so it's a perfect weekend getaway. The house borders the Joshua Tree National Monument, so it's surrounded by the stark and inspiring rocks and nature. Great watching the stars at night since it's so far from the city lights. Highly recommended!

Amazing house, beautiful location, wonderful owner!

We family has enjoyed Joshua Tree for decades and we visit often. When we don't want to camp we treat ourselves to this lovely house conveniently located near the park. My husband and I had our wedding ceremony at this great house in March. We had previously stayed there with 2 of our children and decided this was the perfect spot for our ceremony and celebration. We had about 35 people including our grown children and the owner was most accommodating and helpful with everything from prep to clean up.

Comfortable and Charming

Guest: Tifa (Oakland, CA)
Date of Stay: 03/06/09 Review Submitted: 12/14/10

I highly recommend this property for a relaxing getaway--a home away from home. The house is immaculate, and the owner has great taste so not only are the furnishings gorgeous, there are tons of tiny, charming touches that are fun to discover. The house is right on the border of Joshua Tree National Park, so you go out the door and there's lots to explore: rocks, wildlife, and an arroyo that's fun to walk up. You can climb up the hill to watch the sunset. My son loved it, and I loved being able to let him roam around outside on his own (the nearest neighbor is a good ways away, and it feels very safe). I slept very peacefully here--the beds and bedding are lovely. Great kitchen--good for cooking--and patio area for eating outside (or playing games in the evening!). There's also a sweet cafe just a short drive away (just a few doors down from an awesome vintage clothing store). You will adore the furniture--very swanky, unique '50s and '60s pieces you will want to take home with you. A feast for the eyes! Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Joshua Tree is a magical place, and this house reflects and enhances its awesome setting.
