Cottage 172 is located at the Wright Cottage Court in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Our oceanfront, Outer Banks vacation rental will sleep 12 (this amount includes children) and is 1 large oceanfront rental. It features 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, kitchen and 2 oceanfront decks.....just steps away from the beach.
On the 1st level you will find the kitchen area. Our newly renovated kitchen is amply stocked with dinnerware, cookware and silverware by a local provisioner. The dining area features a table with chairs as well as a bar area with seating and TV. The stacked washer/dryer is also found on this floor. There is a full bath located in the hallway area. A bedroom with 1 queen bed and another bedroom with 2 double beds is also on this floor.
Then you take the stairwell up to the 2nd floor and into the large living room area. There is a small table with chairs (great for card or board games), large sectional sofa and TV in the living room area. The other oceanfront deck leads off the living room area. There is a full bath located in the hallway as well. A bedroom with 1 queen bed and a bedroom with 2 double beds is also located on this floor.
Linen is provided for your stay but not refreshed. This rental also has free hi speed wireless internet and access to our outdoor pool at our adjacent property where you check in. The outdoor pool is open seasonally. Guests of our oceanfront vacation rental may check out passes daily to the YMCA on the Outer Banks. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We are centrally located to all Outer Banks attractions, shopping and restaurants. It's been the perfect getaway for many small family reunions which take place here year after year.
In the summer this rental runs Saturday to Saturday. In the spring, fall, and winter it may be rented nightly with a minimum night stay required. Please call or e-mail for this information. All guests must 21 years old and older to register and occupy this rental unless this is a family unit. Rates are subject to change | holiday and special event rates may apply

Our cottages are not run by a realty company so they are maintained by owners living on the beach. So if for any reason a mainteance issue was to occur, you can be sure that the situtaion would be handled quicker than waiting for a few days for someone to diagnose a problem.
Please note that the green marker for Google maps is located on top of cottage 172. In the 2 lines of cottages that are there, it is the oceanfront cottage on the south side under the marker. You see the outdoor pool at our property to the south (a little over 100 yards away).

We rented the cottage during the Thanksgiving 2010 holiday. When we arrived the windows were so dirty we could not see the ocean. It was also had not been cleaned properly and they had not swept up glass under stove in kitchen. They did attempt to make it better although we ended up doing some cleaning ourselves. They brought us more towels and we purchased table linens to make it at least liveable for a holiday dinner. If you decide to stay here for a week, although the view is great, it is not what I would consider a nice beach cottage. It would be if they were to clean it up with new paint and add items that would make it feel more lika cottage versus a motel.
Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay in our cottage. I am sorry that your stay was not as expected. The windows should have been cleaned prior to your stay barring any storms in the area. The entire kitchen was completely demolished and renovated last year (2010) with all new cabinets, stacked washer/dryer, tile flooring, & appliances installed as well as new carpeting and living room furniture. A local company here also has provided the Cuisinart cookware and the dinnerware for a cottage that sleeps 12. There is no paint in this cottage, the walls are all paneling in the Olde Nags Head style tradition. The pictures of this cottage are exactly as it is--there are no touch ups to our pictures. For this rental, it sleeps 12 people so 24 sets of towels are provided for our weekly guests' stay. There is a stacked washer/dryer in the kitchen for our guests' convenience. Linen set up is provided complimentary though it is not refreshed during a stay. Otherwise we do also have the Wright House which is listed on vrbo and is another cottage rental with elevator, game room, hot tub, private pool & more which is also oceanfront.
