St. Martin's Lane is in the heart of Covent Garden, moments from everything that Covent Garden stands for: theatre, restaurants, clubs, pubs, shops, flowers, museums. It is an amazing location.
This particular flat on this very historical street is across the lane from the Albery Theatre, home of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Directly across the street is the famous Brown's restaurant, center of dinner gatherings after plays let out. Garrick Street, St. Martin's Lane, Great Newport Street, and Long Acre all meet at the local intersection. It is absolutely amazing. Historically, the building where the flat now stands is on the site where Thomas Chippendale once had his famous furniture shop. Now, the area is the hub of city's social and cultural life. This flat is in the middle of it all. Amazing and wonderful location.
The property itself is on the 2nd floor with lift, entrance phone and camera. The friendly porter is always helpful and is in attendance during working hours five days a week. St. Martin's Lane is a one-way street and is free flowing straight to Trafalgar Square; the flat is partially protected from noise by double glazing of good quality. One entire wall is glass, guaranteeing a bright and interesting perspective over Brown's Restaurant and Maiden Lane.
The apartment is done in contemporary style--very utilitarian, without clutter, and very comfortable--lots of space. This two bedroom apartment has a nice lounge with two white leather sofas, table, and chairs. There is a glass dining table and chairs at one end of the lounge. The kitchen is very nice and has been recently redone. It has marble counters and chrome fittings. It has a washer, dryer, microwave, dishwasher. Both bedrooms are to the back of the property, off the street, assuring quiet sleeping in a very active part of the City. The master bathroom is white marble with all chrome fittings. Shower over the tub. The master bedroom has a comfortable QUEEN-SIZE double bed, new duvets, and nice Swedish pillows. There is a second bedroom with 2 TWIN BEDS and has access to a second chrome/glass/marble bathroom with a shower stall, wash hand basin, and loo. There is good storage in the bedroom and bedside lighting. Both bedrooms are to the back of the flat, guaranteeing quiet sleeping.
For four people wishing to be in Covent Garden, this is an ideal flat. Leicester Square is two blocks away. Covent Garden Square and the opera house are only five minutes from the property. Trafalgar Square is at the bottom of the lane. It is a nice walk to the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. In this location, you will hardly ever need a taxi to a theatre or a museum or a restaurant; if you like London, you are in the heart of it here. This contemporary property is ideal.
