Why the Owner Chose Manuel Antonio

We chose to buy property in Manuel Antonio because it is the rainforest. The animals, wildlife, flora and fauna are alive and well. We love the vegetation and the warmth and moisture the climate offers. We also love the people of Manuel Antonio. The locals as well as the settled ex-pax.
We travelled to many different areas of Costa Rica and experienced different developed tourist areas. This area has all the availability of tourist attractions and great restaurants as more populated areas, but we get the more adventuresome crowd. It is a smaller area and so far, the community has been able to keep the chain hotels at bay. Manuel Antonio is close to the old port town of Quepos, which offers great shopping for all your grocery supplies. There is everything from fresh seafood, vegetable and fruits to organic products sold in a grocery store. This quaint town also offers good restaurants and night life. You can enjoy many cultural events if your here at the right time of year. Costa Ricans love to celebrate any event.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Brooks Hacienda offers accommodations in a quiet, private neighbourhood. There are 8 luxury homes in this area owned by Americans and Canadians. The house is about a 15 minute walk from the main road. This allows you a very relaxed and tranquil vacation. We are away from the traffic, fumes and walk in traffic. The house is new since 2008, so all the appliances, housewares, and fixtures are in 100% working order. The view from the many decks is jungle. You cannot see the ocean but you can hear it. It is just thru the park on the other side of the trees. The house is situated far enough away from the trees that you do not feel enclosed. The house borders on Manuel Antonio National Park so you see many different animals and creatures, and hear sounds that you would never hear if you were not on the border of the park. The pool at Brooks Hacienda is a vacation in itself. Always sparkling clean. It is large enough to do your laps as well as float around on one of the many air mattresses and enjoy a tanning session. The beach area with jacuzzis at your back, is a great place to sit and read a book while staying cool. Brooks Hacienda is a welcoming home and awaits your visit.

Owner's Map of Manuel Antonio

My husband, Randy and I, Kate are from British Columbia, Canada. We have a organic pear orchard in that province and have been active organic advocators since 1991. We have enjoyed visiting Costa Rica since 1994. In 2004, we decided on the location of Manuel Antonio (after many venturers around the country) and bought a lot. It took us 4 years to build Brooks Hacienda. It was a great experience, especially learning spanish and conversing with our contractor and employees. We live 6 months in Canada and 6 months in Costa Rica. We feel we have the perfect life. We love to meet people, so we built accommodations for people to come and stay at our lovely home and enjoy it and this beautiful country.

Stunning property and private luxury

Guest: Tami D. (Tulsa, Oklahoma)
Date of Stay: 11/21/11 Review Submitted: 11/28/11

Kate and Randy have taken their time to build a wonderful home filled with all the amenities that you would need for a relaxing vacation. Their careful construction management shows and they really thought of everything you might need. Immaculately clean, wonderful beds and linens, and a fantastic pool just as depicted on the pictures. The screened windows allowed open air sleeping so that the morning wake-up call of the howler monkeys could be heard. Banana trees right outside allowed several different monkey 'pods' to feed. What a treat to have stayed at this wonderful location adjacent to Manual Antonio National Park. We had our own car and found the location to be difficult to figure out (not to mention awful road, I don't recommend getting there after dark.) but once you get there life will be good and you will be more than happy to have enjoyed your stay there. Don't miss breakfast or any meal at Cafe Milagro and bring their coffee home. It is incredible. We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Victoria's, the nearby Canopy Restaurant, and sunset on the beach and then happy hour at Si Como No. Kate and Randy were on hand during our stay and their attention to our enjoyment was surprisingly special and not overbearing.

We,party of 5 spend an amazing 2 weeks in MA,on end of Feb. Our kids really like the pool,it was real gem. We took a lot of pictures from natures wildlife, monkeys, butterflies, birds etc. Everything was new and clean, really great place. The place is little bit far from main road, too far to walk, but there is lot of taxis you can use,and not so pricey, about $ 10 one way. Kate and Randy were really helpful to answer our questions. I will recomend.

Owner response:Thank you for visiting Brooks Hacienda with your family. You were excellent guests and we appreciate this great review. We hope you will return one day. Kate

Wonderful Vacation Spot - convenient, private, comfortable

Guest: Return trip to Costa Rica (Virginia)
Date of Stay: 10/10/10 Review Submitted: 10/19/10

My family met up with a couple friends in Manuel Antonio and the five of us had a very comfortable week at the Brooks Hacienda. The house is immaculate, fresh, clean, comfortable and had everything we wanted and more. The bedrooms each have a nice ACs with remote control and thermostats if you want things cooler in the evenings. The pool was terrific and we had multiple monkey sightings and great bird viewing. The house is about a 10 minute walk from the main road where you can then walk to restaurants and grocery shopping. A bus also runs regularly up and down the main road between Manuel Antonio and Quepos and costs 240 colones (~50 cents). There is also a little shop and carniceria before you get to the main road where you can buy most supplies you might need, some fresh fruit (blender drinks were a hit at the house), and meat (if you want to cook). The shop keepers were very friendly. The Tico and expat neighbors near the house were also very friendly. The owners and manager were very helpful, prompt, and courteous. We didn't turn on the TV but the internet service was fast and reliable. Taking off and doing some adventures (hikes in Manuel Antonio, catamaran trip, beach, etc) and then coming back and relaxing at the house made for a very pleasant time.

This definitely was a home away from home. It exceeded my expectations. I am a cook and I loved the large kitchen, cooking space and the open spaces begged for lounging. The pool and back area are gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay here for two weeks. It was amazing and I would highly recommend!

Owner response:Thank You for your positive comments Lisa. We are happy you enjoyed the home... "as a home away from home". We hope you return someday. Kind Regards Kate

Our Family Stay at Brooks Hacienda

Guest: thomp (Denver, Colorado, USA)
Date of Stay: 03/29/10 Review Submitted: 05/02/10

We stayed at Brooks Hacienda for one week and had a wonderful time. The house was fantastic for our children because they like to swim and spent many hours in the pool. It was so nice to start each day with breakfast on the deck, listening to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys while watching the kids swim. The house was extremely well supplied with everything you would want or need in the kitchen and was immacutely clean. It was also very nice to have the owners nearby to ask questions about local tours, stores and shopping, and restaurants. The owners helped connect us with someone to book tours which was very helpful and convenient so we didn't waste any time trying to figure out what we wanted to do. The house was only a 5 minute drive from restaurants and shopping and only slightly longer to get to the beach and Manuel Antonio National Park. That made it very easy to get to the tours we booked and we didn't spend much time in the car. This was the nicest rental we have stayed at, the house exceeded our expectations. I would recommend Brooks Hacienda to any of our friends and family and would come back in a heart beat.

Owner response:We are very excited about the positive reviews we are getting on Brooks Hacineda. We know how wonderful it is, after a full days of travel, to arrive at our "home away from home" and it be a warm, welcoming and very clean place to stay. We appreciate all our clients responses and we are dedicated to make each and every client of Brooks Hacinenda, a happy customer.

LOVED IT!!

Guest: LindsayAG (Connecticut)

We had a wonderful time staying in this house, we did not want to leave! The home is spacious, comfortable and has ever amenity you could want, even highspeed wireless! We loved having laundry on-site so we could pack light and a full kitchen so we could buy our own food and drinks. The grounds are beautiful, and we loved the terrace and the pool. We will definitely rent this house again This is a perfect rental for 4 people. I will definitely stay here on our next trip to Manuel Antonio. I definitely recommend having a car for this property as it is far from the road and in an area with a lot of hills.

Paradise!

Date of Stay: 03/13/10 Review Submitted: 03/25/10

The photos online do not do this place justice! We walked in and were immediately impressed both with the amenities and the gracious owners! The property was always clean and well maintained. The location is very private compared to the hotels and other accomodations in the area. The Manuel Antonio area has so much to do, we really enjoyed the canopy tour and white water rafting. We were entertained by almost daily visits from monkeys in our backyard, including the endangered Titis! If you will have a car in the area, I highly recommend a 4x4 as the road up to the property is quite steep! I would highly recommend this property and would definitely return!!

Date of Stay: 01/19/10 Review Submitted: 01/19/10

This was my second condo during my stay in CR. The condo is designed very well architechturally, with cool breeze flowing through the house, thanks to invisible vents. Well apointed kitchen and bathroom. Spacious living/dining room added to the kitchen gives it a sprawling feel. House is super quiet, except the song birds and monkeys. Pool was extremely clean, well maintained, and overlooks the rain forest. Quite a spectacular setting. Get an SUV if possible as road is challenging, as in most of Costa Rica. Kate is very nice and hospitable. And Randy is extremely funny and entertaining. Highly recommended......

We loved our stay. The house is very nice, clean, and comfortable. We were able to watch wildlife from the pool including monkeys, birds, and even a sloth. Having seen the other hotels and properties in the area we were even more pleased with the house. It is far enough off the main road to provide and peaceful and quiet vacation, I don't think this would be possible for many of the other options in the area. Although access to the property required driving through a local neighborhood, we felt completely safe and secluded at the house. We only speak english but didn't find the language difference to be an obstacle in this area. We enjoyed hiking, wildlife watching, zip lining and kayaking. We were able to use credit cards for most purchases and avoided exchange fees, conversion calculations, or carrying lots of cash. The only warning is that not all cards are accepted, and some activities/purchases required cash. The owners were really helpful and promptly answered any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay, have recommended to the property to friends, and hope to visit again ourselves. Have fun!!!!!!
