Accommodations:  Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 10)

Experience the beautiful fall colors of northern Michigan. Tour the many wineries of Leelanau County during the crush. Enjoy a crisp, tart apple right off the tree and buy a jug of apple cider from Kilcherman's. September and October are two of the loveliest months to visit our area. Days are still warm and the crowds are gone. It's our favorite time of year.

The Cottage on Hall's Bay is steps away from the most perfect sugar sand beach imaginable. From the deck, where we eat most meals, you have a view over the water of the Northport Marina and the twinkling lights of town in the evening. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and set up for casual living. We've tried to create a place where you can feel at home and put your feet up and relax. A cottage where kids are welcome and encouraged to be kids. For that matter, the cottage is a place where adults can feel like kids again. Build a sand castle. Make a beach fire and cook s'mores. Walk in the woods. Spend a lazy day on the swim raft. The sheltered waters of Northport Bay are unsurpassed for boating and watersports. And if you want to brave the wind and waves of the BIG Lake, the open waters of Lake Michigan are just around the Point. The Cottage on Hall's Bay is the perfect family vacation spot.

The cottage has four bedrooms which sleep 10 people comfortably. We pride ourselves on using high thread count bed linens, down comforters and fresh pillows. All of the mattresses are of excellent quality. The towels are thick and fluffy. The only sounds at night are the wind and waves and maybe the occasional coyote. Nobody passes a sleepless night at the Cottage on Hall's Bay!

There are two living areas, connected by an office, which make the home ideal for large families. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out. On a rainy day the cozy, cedar paneled dining room is great for a game of Scrabble. There is cable television and high speed, wireless internet. Lie in the hammocks on the shady back porch to surf the web or take a nap.

After a day of sunbathing, swimming and looking for Petoskey stones, you might decide to bike along the bay to the village of Northport, just three miles away, for an ice cream cone. Music In The Park on Friday nights is an event for the whole family. Bring a picnic dinner and listen to live music. Or grab a spectacular specialty pizza at the Eat Spot. During intermission stroll along the docks to see the sailboats and enjoy the view. You haven't lived until you've seen the sunset from Peterson Park. Northport is still a peaceful village reminiscent of bygone days.

It would be difficult to find a more perfect beach anywhere. You probably won't feel the urge to venture far from the sun and sand at the cottage. But if you want activities, there is so much to see and do. Leelanau State Park, and Lake Michigan beaches, are five minutes away. Visit the lighthouse and museum six miles up the road. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore is a beautiful 45 minute drive along the lake. The charming towns of Leland and Suttons Bay, with great restaurants and shopping, are also close by. Spend a day touring the local wineries sampling excellent wines and local delicacies such as whitefish pate and raclette cheese with a crusty loaf of Stonehouse Bread. You can be as busy, or as relaxed, as you like. Leelanau County has something for every age and interest.

There is something magical about the Cottage on Hall's Bay which is why our family and friends seem to come back year after year to relax and enjoy everything the area has to offer, including the National Cherry Festival held every July in Traverse City.

Come stay and see for yourself!

Why the Owner Chose Northport

Northport is a very special, end of the road destination. We love the small town feel and the laid back atmosphere. And Leelanau County is so much fun during the summertime.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage

Our beach is perfect and we have one of the few protected anchorages on Northport Bay.

Owner's Map of Northport

My husband and I are travelers who spend most of the year in our home in Santa Fe, Panama. We love traveling and experiencing different cultures.

    • This cottage is one of our family’s favorite places in the world! The winds that blow off the bay make the temperatures nearly perfect both day and night. With a hard sandy bottom, the lake is ideal for swimming. The cottage is nicely secluded, beautifully decorated and well appointed. There are plenty of things to do nearby but we’re always content to just stay put and enjoy!

    • THANK YOU for another beautiful vacation in North Port!! (I think this makes year 17!) My kids truly believe this is our second home for a week out of the year! The petosky stone hunting and kayaking never get old! (the paddle boat was a fun addition this year!) The outdoor shower, hammocks, and lounge chair at the end of the dock continue to be my favorite spots. As the kids get older, we appreciate the many locations your home has to "spread out". We are already looking forward to next year!
