Built solidly in 1910 as a luxurious summer "cottage" by the heir to the Pratt and Whitney fortune, Hyde House is a large, beautifully decorated "Laura Ashley" home with 5000 square feet of comfortable living. Perfect for holidays, family reunions, weddings, or summer, fall and winter get-togethers.
The house is close to the beautiful Chocorua Mountain and Chocorua Lake, one of the most photographed mountains in the USA. Our private beach on Chocorua Lake is only two minutes away for that morning swim or a trip in a kayak to visit the loons.
The house sits on 22 acres of land and is surrounded by landscaped gardens and lawns. Wake up to the sound of wild bird song, as many rare species visit us. Take your morning coffee on the big wide porch and enjoy the peace and quiet of the national forest in the White Mountains.
Tennis anyone? You have your own court right on the property.
In winter take the kids to the King Pine Ski area, only 15 minutes away, where they can learn to ski. The more advanced skiers can visit Cranmore or Attitash, a short drive north on Route 16. Bretton Woods is also nearby. Cross country skiing is available everywhere in Tamworth, most of it free.
Downstairs is a 40' by 20' double living room with wood burning fireplaces, two TVs, card table, DVD, VCR. A formal dining room seats 10-12 for those holiday dinners. The glorious, modern kitchen with island is perfect for breakfast and for preparing food, where the family can congregate. On the first floor are four double bedrooms, three with king sized beds (including a romantic four poster bed), one with twin beds and two cribs. On the third floor (available in the summer), are two more bedrooms with queen sized beds in each.
Newly installed central heating keeps the whole house toasty warm. You will never want to leave!

Why the Owner Chose Chocorua
We wanted a house that could accommodate our extended family of married children and grandchildren, as well as friends from New York City, where we live. We all love hiking in the White Mountains, swimming in Chocorua Lake and other lakes nearby, and playing tennis on our own court.
The Unique Benefits at this Large House
As well as an active recreational life we also enjoy just relaxing and watching the many birds that visit us, both in summer and winter. We wanted to create a warm, welcoming and above all, comfortable place for everybody to stay. And we have succeeded. Everyone who stays at the house says how peaceful it is, and how they wish they could stay longer.
