This was the perfect setting for our annual staff retreat, and no one wanted the day to end. The living room and sun room combined to make plenty of space and even accommodated a screen and powerpoint presentation. The setting was inspirational! Every feature of the home is top notch.Owner response: We are so pleased to offer the McKenzie River Dream for your annual staff retreat. Your comments confirm what we have believed all along, that MRD is also extremely well suited for business retreats and meetings.

Those were our first words as we entered through the front door of this spectacular home. First, it's all about the river which is so close, with views so expansive, you feel like you're on a yacht. Then you notice the home itself which looks like something out of Architectural Digest (the owner is an interior designer). Then, once you begin to settle in, you will recognize how much forethought and fine detail has gone into making this rental feel like home. There simply seems to be nothing the owners have overlooked. The bed was very comfortable, the master bath is huge and pristine with an enormous walk-in shower. The kitchen is a chef's dream. We had a hard time leaving the house at all so many of our earlier plans for sight-seeing were scrubbed in favor of sitting on the deck and watching the wildlife and listening to the rush of the crystal waters of the McKenzie River. We did, however, take a customized wine tour for just the two of us and it was really a grand way to see and taste some of the best wines the U.S. has to offer. We used Sunshine Limo and were lucky enough to get Whit (be sure to ask for him). He arranged private tastings (including some barrel tastings) at small, boutique wineries, hosted in many cases by the owners themselves. The area has so much to offer and this house is perfectly situated right in the middle. You can rent this house with complete confidence. You will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

I am from nearby Marcola and love Oregon! Last year, I took my boyfriend and his son as well as invited my family who lives in close by Eugene/Springfield. The house is SO nice and has everything you could possibly ask for: serenity, amenities and convenience! We are about to make our second trip and this time bringing ALL 3 kids and my boyfriends mom & dad... we cannot WAIT!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We enjoyed a wonderful getaway to River Dream. The candles were all lit when we arrived and the amenities were fabulous. The round dining room table was perfect for our group and the kitchen ideal... for meal preparations. Bedrooms comfy, bathrooms ideal, and the house is beautifully decorated. The magical McKenzie River is part of the experience inside or out. No need to leave this house for an instant. Look forward to coming back.Did you find this review helpful? Ok, so you need some time to relax and enjoy the outdoors, but want a little comfort. You find this house right on the McKenzie River. You want to fly fish a bit, or hike a little, or just be lazy. You rent the place, hoping it works out. You take a really scenic drive from Eugene for about 30 minutes, take that sharp right off of the Mckenzie Freeway, see the home and know you have found the place! It is really a wonderful retreat, very open and inviting, comfortable, with all of the things you will ever need. Easily accomodated our extended family the first week (8 of us) and was very comfortable the second week with just the four of us. The fishing is great right off of the expansive deck, the hiking trials are fantastic and the scenery is beautiful. After a full day, you get to sit out on the deck, watch the river go by, listen to music and enjoy a little reading. The owners really seem to enjoy sharing a very special place. Marilyn, Sharon and Colin: thanks for allowing us into your home. We had a great time. Greg, Lorelle, Willem and Harris.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Words cannot describe what a wonderful 3 days we had. Next year at least a week. We were on the deck most of the time. We saw fish jumping, geese, ducks, blue heron and deer. This beautiful house is one of the nicest one we have ever stayed in. No comfort left out. The light hitting the river in the morning was magical, we left the bedroom door open at night to hear the river noises. All of your senses are involved in this house. Loved it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I arrived in the evening after the sun had set. The house was lit up and appeared to glow. We slept in the downstairs master suite and woke up to the morning sun. That next morning we saw the breathtaking river, and made the decision not to go into town the entire visit. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The minute I walked through the front door I immediately felt the stress melt away. The sunroom is such a wonderful place to read a book, or just watch the river roll by. I particularly enjoyed starting my day in the sun room with a cup of coffee, writing in my journal and watching the sun come up. Even though it rained during part of our stay, we actually enjoyed watching the rain. This place is truly a treat. The bathroom are all to die for. We sat at the round dining table for hours just talking and laughing as we enjoyed to beautiful view of the river. This house is a real treat. Marilyn, thanks for providing such a wonderful home for us to enjoy. Well done!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

A truly dream destination. Rarely are you able to find a house and property that are equally beautiful. This is the case with this wonderful home away from home. You could easily spend your entire time there without ever leaving. The detail given to the interior decorating is impeccable, and of course the river view cannot be rivaled - watching the wildlife just across the river is an amazing way to spend the evening on the deck or in the hottub. This is a must rent in every aspect!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: My name is Marilyn Augusta. I am an interior designer and owner of the Augusta House Bed and Breakfast in Eugene, the River Dream vacation rental and the City Loft Condo in downtown Eugene by the popular Fifth Street Public Market off Skinners Butte Park. I love design and creating beautiful spaces and it all began 54 years ago for me. It was at the Palace of Versailles... where I was just three years old. I fell in love with color, interiors and architecture! I jist could not stop looking at the rooms and spaces and I have not been able to stop looking since. My partner Sharon Hadley is part owner of Quality Chain Canada, Inc. They import steel, manufacture and markets products throughout Canada. I think we are an interesting combination. We have three adult children who are our pride and joy... There is our dog too... Suki... and miniature Austrian Labradoodle. You will love her! I began We enjoy University of Oregon athletics, golf and remodeling houses.
Why the Owner Chose McKenzie River:
We are pleased to share the McKenzie River Dream with you. We completely remodeled this property in 2007 to be the home we retire in. So we spared no expense. Granite countertops throughout, custom showers, state of the art home theater system through out the main floor and outdoor spaces, HD /TV's, Pandora, Netflix, 8 person hot tub, copper clefted slate floors...the jewel of the house, our gourmet kitchen.
Well, we discovered we are not ready to retire, so moved closer to the action in Eugene. Of course we did not what to sell this property, so we decided the best of all solutions would be to allow others to share in its comfort and beauty.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
A bonus we discovered after living here is that Leaburg is in a sunbelt. Very often if it is cloudy or foggy in Eugene it is sunny in Leaburg. Another bonus is that even if it is rainy and stormy, it is so relaxing watching the rain on the river. We have such phenominal views from the sunroom, dining room and master bedroom.
