South Padre Island is one of the finest recreational areas in the world. Our condo at Gulfview I offers all the amenities one could ask for in a one-bedroom condo, including a full kitchen with everything needed to prepare a gourmet meal or reheat a pizza in the microwave.
For those downtime moments away from the beaches, we have a large TV with cable service that includes HBO/Cinemax. A phone is available for free local calls; long distance can be accessed with a calling card.
The bedroom is spacious and has two full-size beds. All necessary sheets and towels are supplied.
The third-floor porch provides a space to kick back and enjoy the view of the ocean and the jetties. Then take a swim in the Olympic-plus size swimming pool, or enjoy basking in the luxury of one of the two whirlpool spas. Afterward, take a walk on the pristine beach where you can collect some shells, try out your new surfboard, or do some windsurfing.
The Schlitterbahn Water Park is located just across the street.
Activities: Do not worry about parking spaces; just keep your auto at Gulfview I and walk over to buy your ticket and enjoy a fun-filled day of water sports for the entire family at Schlitterbahn. Our manager has DISCOUNTED tickets for Schlitterbahn.
If you are not too exhausted from your day activities, you'll have restaurants, nightclubs, or a cruise on an offshore gambling vessel to choose among at night.
Brownsville is only 30 minutes away, and prides itself on the Gladys Porter Zoo -- one of largest and most comprehensive zoos in the United States. And world-class golfing is located at Laguna Vista, only a few minutes' drive from the Island.
The close proximity to Mexico (45 minutes) provides the vacationer an opportunity to enjoy a south-of-the-border experience. Dine or dance to a Latin beat at Garcia's, or visit the Mercado where you can buy gifts for everyone for only a few pesos.
Pets: Absolutely NO PETS unless the owner agrees to it. Steam Cleaning fee of $150.00 for dogs.
Payment: The owner only takes PAYPAL or might agree to a check or money order if it is mailed overnight. It is not rented until the money is received; other wise, it is available on a first come first serve basis. Condo is not put on hold due to an inquiry. Must book right away or lose out to other waiting customers. I do not log my rentals into the HomeAway website as I simply do not have the time to post or edit rental dates or entry and exit times. This condo was great for my stay. Mrs. Wilkinson is extremely nice, compliant and answered any questions that I had. Although the condo seems a little old, everything is still in great condition. However, we were a little disappointed with the location because of the loud construction going on right in front of the balcony, the constant screams from people at Schlitterbahn that got a little old, and the fact that there is no easy accessible beach access with the construction going on. I would add a few things to the condo, like a working overhead fan and a clock in the bedroom and maybe a DVD player in the living room. But, overall, we had such a great time and loved the place.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the office staff who were very helpful in directing us to where our unit was and how everything worked. Our room was very well kept and clean , the kitchen was fully stocked with every appliance we could need. Mrs Wilkinson was very responsive to any questions i had and was available at the drop of a hat if needed. The condo is a stones throw away from the beach , unfortunately the spa was out of order when we were there but if you just plan on going to the beach it was not a big deal . Schlitterbahn is literally right next door for great family fun. Its far enough away from the city center that it is not congested at all but close enough that getting shopping done is a breeze. For the price of this unit compared to other locations it is a no brianer, it may not be the most updated and high tech condo but it meets all the basic needs and is a fully functional clean unit. We only had one problem while staying there which was the kitchen sink was clogged , but all we had to do is tell the staff and they stopped what they were doing and instantly helped us. It did not take more than minutes to get this resolved. I would reccomend this unit to anyone wanting to stay there as a couple or a family of 5 or 6. We stayed in this condo with 2 couples and it worked perfectly.!!

Unfortunately on arriving we were informed the pool and hot tubs would be down for a couple of weeks, which the owner of the condo did not advise us of, and they were made aware back in May 2011. The unit is very outdated, the carpet is soiled, damaged in spots and should have been changed years ago. The furniture is all old and tired and needs to be replaced. The kitchen was well stocked but again, carpeting going up the walls of the bar, really outdated and surely not healthy near a kitchen. The ad advises a large television in the livingroom, it is the old big style and only a 19inch, hardly a large television, the one in the bedroom is even smaller. The mattresses in the bedroom are old and very uncomfortable. The condo pool and common room are all very nice and well maintained. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I would never recommend this unit to anyone

Owner response: The renters changed their stay from a time that the pool and hot tub were available to one in which they were not. Owners were advised that the pool was under consideration for a replastering in May, but not adopted by the board and owners until Oct. 8, 2010. Tentative pool work was originally scheduled for Nov. 15 then moved to Dec. 1. In addition, the weather during the time of their rescheduled rental made usage of the pool prohibitive, anyway - too cold. This factor of nature is beyond an owner's control. The renters refused a newly remodeled unit and insisted on staying in this unit whose carpet was newly steamcleaned as was the furniture. Renters arrived with a pet which is prohibited by the owner as this requires a total steamcleaning of the carpet and an additional $200 charge for this service. Owner was gracious enough to not charge for this transgression of the rental contract. Spots on carpet are due to someone dribbling nail polish remover which melted the carpet fibers in the dining area. Carpet near the kitchen not being healthy? This is a common design to run carpet up a bar. A new 36 inch LCD television was installed on 12/21/11. This required tearing down of a wall to install a wall brace, rerun the cable, sheetrock, and repaint. This was too extensive a job to get done between rentals and that is why another unit was offered to them in the first place. This couple wanted to take out insurance or may have done so to guarantee that they would be getting what they were paying for. At least that is what they stated to me. Conversations and texts with them heavily indicated to me that they were looking for a total refund at the end of their rental time, if not from me, than from their renters' insurance. I almost cancelled their stay and let them know how I felt about their messages to me. I was leery of renting to them because it seemed that they were of the litigous nature. They apologized and did rent. Now, I think they have established a way to prove that they are due a refund from their insurance through posting of this negative review. I have rented since 1990 and have many repeat renters that love my place. Many renters have stated that this condo is cleaner than most hotel rooms that they have stayed in.

This is a first-come, first-serve type of rental during the Summer Season from April thru August. Do try and book it right away as I cannot hold it for anyone. Payment is due in full at the time of the booking. I do not keep up with the HomeAway online rental calendar except for the months of January thru the end of March. This condo has a strict Occupancy of six people.
Pay Pal, deposits into Chase Bank, Chase Quick Pay, or deposits to International Bank of Commerce Bank (IBC). A branch of IBC is located in the Walmart at Port Isabel or on South Padre Island as you exit the bridge to the left.
CANCELLATIONS must be done at least 7 days in advance or a $100.00 cancellation fee will apply.
