The Black Bear Inn is an elegant, waterfront Inn designed for guest’s privacy and relaxation. Completed in 2005 its unique furnishings, décor and numerous amenities can only be matched by the finest of hotels. All of the Black Bear’s rooms overlook the water and show case Alaskan artist’s paintings, prints and photographs. The house has Sirius satellite surround sound and free Wireless high speed Internet everywhere on the property.
It is the perfect place for large gatherings, fishing groups, business retreats, and special occasions. The entire rental can accommodate up to 16 people. The property offers a 4 bedroom - 5 bath house, a luxury one bedroom apartment and a private 2 room cabin. If your group does not need all of the rooms, partial rentals are sometimes available. Sixty-year-old Spruce and Cedars that house many different birds, boarder the properties park like setting. Multilevel decking wraps around the house providing outstanding spots to sit back and watch wildlife, float planes, barges, fishing boats, world-class yachts, and cruise ships. The outdoor Spa Building, on the waters edge, is the most romantic place to watch Ketchikan’s majestic sunsets. There is an outdoor covered barbecue area and a fish cleaning area for the catch of the day.
The well-designed kitchens offers top of the line appliances, Italian tile work and everything you need to prepare special meals. Catered Meals are available for an additional charge. Special dietary needs can always be accommodated. Indoor and outdoor eating areas are provided for privacy or to accommodate large groups.
The living room has a warm luxurious feel enhanced by a hand built designer fireplace in the corner. A leather couch makes into a queen bed when needed. The room has a flat panel TV, a DVD and VCR player, a game and movie cabinet and a library. There is a full bathroom and spacious laundry room off the living area. The laundry has an ironing area and an upright fish freezer.
Fishing and Transportation Packages are available for guests. The owners are also happy to set up local tours and help with other needs you have while visiting in Alaska.
The Inn provides free local phone calling and free use of a copy, scan and fax machine. The Inn is non- smoking, but covered porches can be used for smoking. For safety reasons there are age restrictions on children, please check in advance. With prior approval, a pet may be accepted for a small fee and deposit in the Bunkhouse Cabin.
