The entry to the home is just one step up from the upper parking area. We've added windows and sliding glass doors so that there is always great mountain scenery to enjoy from every room. We have also added a large dining room where your family and friends can gather -- and sometimes enjoy a glimpse of passing deer or wild turkeys from the windows! -- around a large table. The completely re-designed kitchen features top of the line cabinets, appliances and granite countertops and is fully stocked with china, glassware, cooking equipment, etc. There is additional seating on bar stools at the large, granite topped island.

The great room with cathedral ceiling has a two story high natural stone chimney. The easy to use gas logs in the fireplace are great for a chilly summer evening or cold winter night. It also has comfortable seating and a large flat screen TV with basic cable, DVD and VCR. The large deck across the front of the house has several seating areas and is a favorite place for watching and feeding birds, toasting magnificent sunsets, savoring the beauty of Autumn leaves in the North Carolina High Country or viewing the snow covered slopes of SkiBeech. The deck by the dining room on the back of the house where deer and wild turkeys sometimes parade by, has a large gas grill and additional outdoor seating. There is parking in a circular drive in front of the home as well as at the back.

The master suite (with queen bed and sliding doors opening to a private area of the front deck) has an up-to-date and spacious tiled bath featuring a "spa" shower (with river rock floor) and dressing area with washer & dryer. Each of the other two main level bedrooms (one w/ double bed and one with twin beds) has a private bath (tub/shower) and sliding doors to decks. The loft room (3 single beds) reached by steps from the great room, is great for children or adults. It has a private bath w/tub, and there is a table for games.

Our guests have privileges at the nearby private Beech Mountain Club (open mid-May thru mid-October) with a variety of recreational opportunities including golf, tennis, and swimming. The the Town of Beech Mtn. offers a recreation center for year round use. Easy and fun day trips include shopping and Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock, wildlife exhibits and the mile high swinging bridge at Grandfather Mountain, gem mines in Spruce Pine, the Blue Ridge
Parkway, Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville and more. Hiking the trails on Beech is great fun for the whole family.

SkiBeech, at 5,506 the highest ski resort in Eastern North America, is open, weather permitting, from late November to mid-March, and the parking/ticket/lift area is located less than a mile from Charter Hills Chalet. (You can see the slopes from the front deck of the house!) In addition to downhill skiing, activities include tubing, snowboarding and ice skating.

If you have questions or would like more information or additional photos, please call. We are happy to tell you about our vacation home AND beautiful Beech Mountain.

Why the Owner Chose Beech Mountain

The unique mountain top location in the HighCountry of North Carolina provides access to many outdoor activities year round. And there are also many things to do in the surrounding Banne Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain areas. It is a great place to enjoy being with family and friends!

The Unique Benefits at this House

SPRING is the time to enjoy wildflowers and walks in the woods; SUMMER brings the many activities at the Beech Mountain Club where our guests can enjoy the heated pool, golf, tennis and more; FALL is a glorious time to enjoy the spectacular fall foliage along the near by Blue Rideg Parkway and hiking on the many trails; WINTER brings the challenges of skiing at the Ski Beech Resort and fun of sledding on the town's special slope. HOLIDAYS are great times to gather with family and friends. The large, open dining room is a great place for family dining, and we love gathering around the large stone fireplace in the great room on cool nights (some in July!) to rest and relax in the evening. The spacious decks are wonderful for watching deer, hummingbirds and other wildlife, reading, grilling, or toasting the sunset. Thanksgiving dinners are easy to prepare in the remodeled, fully furnished kitchen, and the comfortably furnished bedrooms are welcome retreats at the end of busy days.

A Beautiful Home, a Delightful Vacation

Guest: Courtenay (Edgefield, SC)
Date of Stay: 10/07/10 Review Submitted: 08/03/11

We spent a long weekend at the beautiful chalet! It is a wonderful home away from home. Well maintained and stocked with everything you could ever need. It offers beautiful views of the changing leaves. Each morning, we had coffee with the birds on the front porch. The evenings were filled with deer walking through the backyard. It is truly a gem hidden in the mountains. But don’t believe that you are far from the sites. The cabin is very convenient to Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Opportunities for hiking, dining out, and shopping abound. You can be sure that we’ll be back year after year!

Peak leaf weekend was spectacular! We explored several easy hiking trails on Beech Mtn - love the Falls Trail. Love eating outdoors on either of the 2 decks in ideal with deer passing by as they graze in the woods. Beautiful sunset views from the front deck. Love the rock shower in the master bath!!! Decor shows many personal touches from the owner's travels abroad. Day trips to Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mtn, Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, and to see Ben Long's Fresco Trail. I highly recommend this rental.

Great place for the family, for the summer, for the fall

Guest: GHO (Charleston)
Date of Stay: 06/30/11 Review Submitted: 07/18/11

I've stayed in this wonderful house in the summer and in the fall. At the height of summer's heat, this home remains cool. In the cool of the fall, this home is warm and inviting. The owners' tasteful decorations transport visitors from the mountains of N.C. to the mountains of Switzerland, Bavaria, and the Tyrol. The updated kitcher is user friendly. The front deck is a perfect place for afternoon cocktails. The location is an easy ride to Fred's on top of the mountain. Easy access to Banner Elk, Tynecastle (Invershield), Linville, Foscoe, Boone, Blowing Rock via the Parkway. If you want a great mountain escape, this is it!

Our recent vacation was great! We really enjoyed it. The kitchen is amazing and well stocked. The beds were very comfy. Everyone will want to try out the stone shower, so be ready to share it. :-) There are many walking trails in the area and short car rides into town for festivals and local shopping.
