Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2006

Our busy family of five includes three sons, 2 of whom are now in college and one in high school. We own and have operated a fine-dining restaurant in Seattle, where we permanently live, for over 19 years. Chef (& Dad) was born and raised in Germany, so he naturally gravitated to the "Bavarian beauty" and pioneer history of this old house. I (the mom) was born & raised in Seattle, but travelled the world enough to recognize the beauty here. I'm a UW Husky, one son is a WSU Coug, and another a WWU Viking. Plus our 2 great dogs go wild there!

Why the Owner Chose Leavenworth

Cashmere is like a dream come true in that is combines the beauty of all 4 seasons within 2 1/2 hours of Seattle. The Wenatchee River is close for tubing, the Columbia River is close for water sports and fishing. The mountains are close for skiing and we have hot enough weather to grow our own vineyard. This house is huge enough to have lots of families share it at one time without feeling crowded ever. Our kids love the 3rd floor game loft especially. We use our ATV's and mountain bikes, plus there are many hiking and horse trails. Plus 300 days of sunshine guaranteed in Cashmere is great & it's in the heart of Chelan Co. wine country. We liked the peace and privacy of acreage and our sons love all the activities surrounding the area.

The Unique Benefits of this Historic Farmhouse

The wild animals are wonderful - as long as they stay out of the vineyard. Herds of elk and deer roam the property, plus the occasional coyotes howl. We've seen a bear and a mountain lion, tons of hummingbirds and song birds. The spring peonies are gorgeous, fruit trees and orchards are everywhere, the house is surrounded by 100+ foot tall old Black Walnut trees for shade and sheer beauty. There's lots of grass to play croquet or badmitten, slip & slide or throw a frisbee. Plus we have 4 friendly hens and 1 active rooster. We treat this as our home to share with friends so it comes fully stocked with everything WE could think of that you might enjoy including cords of firewood, toys, books, movies, games, puzzles and kitchen items.

"Oh my gosh! What a fabulous place. The whole house exudes your warmth and care. I enjoyed looking through the photo books and getting a sense of all the hard work you all put into restoring your farm house. So many wonderful, original features: the ornate door hinges, the little triangle shaped doo-dads in each corner of the stairs, the light fixtures, the piece of decorative metal above the front door. I absolutely adored the "Betty Crocker" stove. Very cool. The whole place reminded me of the Iowa farm I spent Summer's on when I was growing up. And then their are your personal touches like the beautiful quilts. "

"Your house is beautiful. It has so much character and has such a loving feeling. The 3rd level was probably our favorite spot. We played lots of ping pong and cribbage. This is a beautiful peaceful valley. No sound of cars. Very quiet. Thanks for sharing your beautiful peace with us." Thank you Tom and Colleen for sharing your photos with us too! and from your e-mail..."We had a blast. Tom said he could feel the love in the house. Your property is beautiful too!"
