Peaceful. Mesmerizing view. Listen to nature's quiet. Lounge on the deck with a good book while watching the ospreys feed their young. Enjoy a meal as boats, kayaks and jet skis pass by. Camelot By The Bay is located on Colington Island, away from the crush of the beach traffic and crowds but within a short drive of the many fun and interesting sights and activities offered by the Outer Banks. A member of the vacation neighborhood of Colington Harbour, Camelot By The Bay provides its guests with many community amenities including a swimming pool with clubhouse, a private marina, tennis and basketball courts, and a private sound-side beach with a shaded playground, picnic tables and bathrooms--perfect for little ones who are not up to the challenge of the ocean waves and undertows. Camelot By The Bay has a private dock on a canal which leads into Blount Bay (known for it's shoreline crabbing) and Kitty Hawk Bay (great for kayaking, water-skiing, jet-skiing and windsurfing) and into the Albermarle Sound (for fishing, boating and sailing). Many guests of Camelot By The Bay enjoy biking to the Wright Brothers Memorial or taking a morning walk to the end of the island where the pool, marina and sound-side beach are located. http://www.hcbond.com/wordpress/photos/general-photos/ Children, young and old alike, love crabbing from the private dock in our fenced backyard as the burgers are cooking on the grill. Launch your boat from the marina and have it at the ready during your visit, tied to our private dock--enjoy early morning fishing or afternoon water-skiing without the daily put-in and take-out from a public launch. Our screened porch keeps the bugs at bay while you sip on a cooling drink, enjoying the company of family and friends. And let us not forget the hot-tub: private, relaxing and just what the doctor ordered at the end of the day after using muscles you didn't know you still had. Since Camelot By The Bay is on a lock-box system, guests may check-in at their leisure any time after four in the afternoon. The Outer Banks has something to offer our guests year-round. We invite you to visit Camelot By The Bay during the less-crowded time of the off-season when flexible bookings of three nights or more are available. It's a wonderful opportunity to tour the NC Aquarium, the Wright Memorial Museums, or go shopping at the Tanger Outlet Center without the crowds of the summer months. Spring is a wonderful time to fly a kite on Jockey's Ridge and bird watch along the Pea Island Trail when the sun is not as hot and there are fewer bugs. The fish are biting year-round and the beach awaits your footprints. Whether you are running a marathon, showing-off your Harley or Christmas shopping with the girls, Camelot By The Bay welcomes you home at the end of your adventures. Relax in the hot-tub; ease the muscles that had so much fun during the day. Bring your boat, kayak and sunblock to our home away from home. Camelot By The Bay awaits your arrival.

We had such a wonderful time! The location was amazing. It was so close to everything. The kids always had something to do with the bay int the backyard. They biked, swam in the pool, fished, crabbed, went boating and even tried their luck on a paddle board. The house had the perfect amount of room for all of us and had everything we could have wanted. We hope to visit soon and would recommend this home without any reservation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Great house - well equipped - feels like you are at home! Lots of "stuff" for kids - our grandaughter was thrilled. Perfect for a family or group - wonderful outside porch and deck. Lots of steps though so beware if you have an older person or a person with a disability.Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: I am happy you enjoyed your stay and hope you return soon. Due to flood potential associated with hurricanes and tropical storms, most homes are multilevel with the bottom level vacant due to FEMA requirements. If you have someone in your party who cannot manage stairs be sure to look for houses with elevators, houses located away from the water or one story older homes which were able to be grandfathered in by FEMA (they are not required to have a vacant lower level.) The local hotels are also an option. We want everyone to have a fun, restful vacation. The Outer Banks has it all!

We were so lucky to find this little gem at the last minute, as we were looking for something only for the weekend during peak season in the Outer Banks, which is extremely hard to come by. The owner was fabulous to communicate with before our arrival. Once we arrived, we were able to let ourselves in thanks to the lock box which was quite nice. The house was nicely appointed with everything we needed for an awesome few days. There was even a little welcome bag with goodies for us! There are really too many great things to put in this review but to sum it all up, we would love to stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hope you and yours return soon. Be sure to watch for our off-season long weekend specials!

Thank you so much for renting us your home! Our family had a great vacation - everything about this house is high quality, very clean, and well-maintained. Comfortable beds (very important!), lovely linens, well-stocked kitchen and beach necessities, nicely decorated rooms, top notch appliances and furnishings. Thank you so much for your attention to all the details that make a vacation home perfect! We really enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning and evening, lounging in the hot tub at night, watching a movie on the huge screen TV, and just relaxing!! The community pool and beach were great and the access to the ocean beach is so easy! This home is centrally located which makes it very convenient for exploring the Outer Banks. Susan, the owner, was very responsive to our inquiries and very helpful in assisting us in planning our trip. We loved the Colington Cafe (great food and desserts!), the wild horse tour in Corolla, and shopping in Duck. Duck Donuts is a must-have - melt in your mouth fresh and hot prepared for you fried cakes! We also recommend La Fogata Mexican restaurant for a quick and inexpensive authentic Mexican meal. We will certainly be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I am happy your family enjoyed your vacation. And I agree--comfortable beds are very important after a hard day at playing and sight-seeing. Thank you for taking such good care of our vacation home. We hope you return in the future.

We had a really wonderful time staying in your home. It had everything we needed. The community pool was great! We really loved the kiddie pool. It had been over 20 years since we had visited the Outer Banks and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. There are so many great things to do there, one week just wasn't long enough. Miller's Seafood was just as good as we remembered. The weather was perfect! We had one day of rain, but not the entire day. Everybody needs a day of rest and napping. We had a very nice day trip to Ocracoke island. The kids and grandmothers really loved the ferry rides. Visitng the Cape Hatteras lighthouse was really fun. Make sure you are in tip top shape to climb the 248 steps to the top. The views are worth it. We went to Coquina Beach you recommened. It was nice to have showers to wash off all the sand and a place to change clothes. We really are looking forward to visiting the Outer Banks again next year!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I am so happy your family enjoyed your vacation and hope you visit us again soon!

We really enjoyed this house. The Colington location, while far from the beach, was very quiet & pretty. On the outer banks you have to drive everywhere anyway, so the drive to the beach was no problem. This house stood out by being very well appointed, toys for the kids, a zillion beach chairs, even music & movies, we were really wanting for nothing. Susan (owner) was a big help as well, and very accomodating. In all, we felt like this house wa a great deal, considering the waterfront location, brand new hot tub, and generally high quality of the property. A+.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Pete and his family were a pleasure to have visit our vacation home. They were wonderful guests who I hope return again.

The place and hospitatility of the owners was great. It felt like home with all the amenities we needed. The view from the top deck was wonderful to watch the sunsets. It was just off the main thoroughfare without all the noise and traffic. They had just about everything but the food and the boat! We did visit the club and it was nice and everyone friendly. Either I didn't read the instructions well or what, but we walked and it was almost 2 miles one way in 90 degree heat. Overall, it was great!.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: The community amenities are inside the gated portion of Colington Harbour. The swimming pool is 1.2 miles from our vacation home. I am sure in the hot sun it feels longer especially loaded down with towels and other items you may need during the day. While some enjoy the walk to the end of the island, others prefer driving to the pool especially those with young children and if you are taking supplies for a day in the sun--towels, sunblock, pool toys, etc. I apologize for any misunderstanding and encourage referencing our map to get a better perspective of where we are located in reference to popular points of interest in our area. My wish is for all our guests to enjoy themselves.

the home is wonderfully located at collington bay, the winding road out onto the island is an exciting drive with great scenery. the home is just off the beaten path enough to have peace a quiet, yet still only minutes back into Kill devil hills. You are also just a few miles north of Nags head and all those many attractions. The home itself was outstanding. the decor was very nice, with more than enough room should all 4 bedroom be occupied. The kitchen is well stocked and the entertainment center is wonderful with a huge TV, music and even video games should that interest you. The view from the upper deck of the canal and out into the sound back across to the mainland was great. We had a fantastic stay and i highly recommend the home to any vacationer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

About the owner: The joy of the ferry ride to Ocracoke never grows old.Since we were children, we have been making an annual trek to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It's beauty and tranquility has been unaltered by development. Whether rain or shine, there are a wide array of activities for families to enjoy and share. We chose Colington Harbor for it's central location and neighborhood appeal. Colington Harbor is a year-round community where people are not ships which pass in the night but neighbors who will help you out in a pinch and shout a friendly 'Hello' in the morning as you set out on your boat to fish. This is why the Butlers call Camelot By The Bay our home away from home.
Why the Owner Chose Kill Devil Hills:
Having our own private dock makes boating a daily pleasure. We simply launch from the community marina and tie up in our backyard! The community pool and soundside beach provide safer swimming for young ones who want to splash away the summer heat--no getting knocked over by the waves here!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
At night, we enjoy the quiet--away from the Beach Road traffic which seems to never end during the summer months. Crabbing and fishing from our private dock keeps the children (young and old!) entertained while we grill and relax in the fenced backyard.
