Changing Tides is your own funky and unpretentious getaway retreat on Hood Canal! Never snooty or sterile, this is the place you can come unwind and just relax. A world away from stress, Changing Tides offers breathtaking views of Mt. Washington and Mt. Ellinor reflected in the emerald waters of Hood Canal.
Located at the mouth of the Skokomish River as it makes a wide, slow entry into Anna’s Bay, this marine estuary creates many options for recreational opportunities. Whether you enjoy outdoor activities, the simplicity of watching the wildlife, or just want to enjoy an intimate romantic get away…this waterfront cabin is the spot for you.
Changing Tides is perfect for a couple, with a Queen bed in the Master and additional beds can be set up in the living area for additional friends or family members. The kitchen is fully stocked with every amenity you could desire and flows into an open living room with large windows that overlook the Skokomish River and the Olympic mountains. A gas free standing stove makes a cozy complement to any evening during the Fall or Winter.
Outside on the deck is a stocked charcoal BBQ grill and a wrought iron table with umbrellas. There is plenty of off street parking for an RV or boat, the local boat launch and marina is less than a mile away. There is no phone or cable TV by design. We do offer internet access, DVD, VCR, and CD players as well as a variety of board games and books for your entertainment.
What to Do:
• Explore the Skokomish delta by kayak anytime and float the "Skok" during the Fall, Winter, and Spring.
• Wildlife viewing is superb for fin or feathers. You’ll see eagles, blue heron, seals, salmon, and many varieties of ducks.
• Gaze at sunsets and mountains, moonlight on the bay, and look for shooting stars overhead.
• Privacy for sun bathing…but keep an eye out for kayakers!
• Mountain bikes provided, ride local trails or explore Olympic National Forest
Other activities include hiking the level trails of Staircase in Olympic National Park. For experienced hikers, consider taking the trail to the top of Mt. Ellinor (in view photo). You'll see all of Puget Sound from Seattle to Olympia and the endless snowcapped Olympic peaks to the west. A more sedate outing would be to visit Alderbrook Inn and Spa and enjoy a massage or other body work, located just two miles away.
Changing Tides is located 40 minutes from Olympia, 40 minutes from Bremerton, and 1-1/2 hours from SeaTac airport.

We never expected so much sunshine! We did everything from sitting in the dark listening to music to walking on the tide flats in our rubber boots to drinking wine on the deck admiring the sunset. Even as we are about to step out the door,back to our regular lives, I can't stop looking at the view of the Olympics. Thank you for sharing this special hidden place with us on Valentines Day weekend. What a treat!
