Take a 15 minute drive to one of the top-rated beaches in the world, Siesta Key Beach, where the cool white sand is like talcum powder between your toes! An easy bike ride takes you to Sarasota’s downtown marina and bayside park. A 10-minute leisurely walk from your front door to charming downtown Sarasota awaits you, with refined and casual dining , art galleries, a newly renovated opera house, a dinner theater, and plenty of shopping. Stroll to the Farmers' market on Saturday mornings. Play tennis on one of Sarasota’s public courts, only 2 blocks away, or improve your golf game on one of Florida’s top-rated golf courses just down the road. Hop across the bridge to St. Armand's Circle, a mecca for shopping and restaurants, or go a few more minutes to multiple other beaches.
The Ringling estate with tours of the Ringling villa on Sarasota Bay is also nearby, offering a wonderful fine art museum and a new circus museum. Right across the street from the Ringling estate is the Asolo Theater, where you can see excellent plays for reasonable prices. And if the Asolo Theater is not playing your favorite show, just across the street from the Alinari is the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, which has entertained audiences with music, dance, theater and comedy for over 35 years.

Year Purchased: 2007
We went to Sarasota to see what it was like, and a few days later we had bought a condo because we loved it so much! We have lived in the Washington DC area most of our professional lives, yet we plan to retire in Sarasota in a few years. We love to play golf and tennis, ride bikes, shop, and dine at great restaurants. We also love to travel and have been to many great locations around the world. Our first trip to South America is in October.
Why the Owner Chose Sarasota
We loved Sarasota at first sight! We were able to buy a brand new condo built to the new hurricane codes and is walking distance to downtown and to the Marina on Sarasota Bay. Downtown is charming with art galleries, movie theaters, shopping, Starbucks, Whole Foods, and many varieties of nice restaurants. St Armands Circle is just across the bridge from downtown and is another charming area of restaurants and shopping. It is also the gateway to Lido and Longboat Key beaches and other areas of interest. There are many golf courses,and even the private clubs are open to the public in off-season.
The Unique Benefits of this Condominium
We love to relax on our balcony, where the weather is pleasant most of the day and night. We love to bike to Starbucks to have coffee then just enjoy riding around downtown Sarasota or going to the Botanical Gardens to see the beautiful banyan trees and tropical plants. We also enjoy going to the Ringling Estate where there are two wonderful circus exhibits (one, an entire circus entourage in miniature), a well regarded art museum, and the furnished villa of John and Mabel Ringling right on Sarasota Bay. There is also a totally renovated Opera House in downtown Sarasota, where we hope to go sometime. We love to go to Siesta Key Beach, the #2 Beach in the US, especially in the late afternoon and evening where we can enjoy drinks and watch the sun go down -- the beauty of being on the WEST COAST of Florida!! Sometimes we stop by Morton's Market on the way to the beach to pick up gourmet items to eat at the beach (or to take home on the way back!). During the season, especially, there are many entertainment venues from plays/musicals that could be on the way to Broadway to the Sarasota Film Festival in the spring.
