Lovely, spacious, modern, relaxing home!

This home is all you would expect it to be from the descriptions and the photos! We celebrated Christmas 2008 here, and it was a perfect venue for my son and his new wife, both sets of parents, and my daughter and her little toddler. Every detail of comfort and quality has been incorporated in this modern home. It has the feel of a luxury hotel with the amenities of a private home. We especially enjoyed the fireplace while watching DVDs, and the well-stocked gourmet kitchen - ALL of us got in on the cooking each day! The Leucadia Rock House is immactuate, beautifully decorated, and appointed with lovely furnishings and plenty of high quality linens. I was very impressed that the owners did not skimp on things such as paper products and linens (like other rentals I have used in the past). The grounds were also immaculately groomed, and there were plenty of areas and supplies for outdoor enjoyment. The weather during our stay was stormy, but we had planned our stay at this vacation rental to stay in and enjoy time together. We didn't use the outdoors, but there was so much to do at the house that we didn't miss going outside at all. We brought DVDs and CDs, but the house had those too! We were able to watch by the fireside, cook delicious meals and enjoy each others' company. There are books, games, music, billiards and Internet too. Even our little one found toys and loved the layout of the home. There was a quiet bedroom near the back for his naps, and one other bedroom downstairs. There were also two huge luxurious bedrooms with retreats upstairs, one with a fireplace! The seaside decor with shells and lovely objects was beautiful. The owners of this home were quick to contact me after my inquiry, and always answered all of my emailed questions immediately. When I called them, they were happy to help me and never acted like I was bothering them with my questions. They gave clear instructions, and check in and check out were exactly as they described. They gave me lots of information about the area and there is also a binder in the home with local info. There are grocery stores as well as restaurants and sightseeing close to the home, and the beach is also very close (not walking distance in the winter). I would recommend this home to ANYONE who wanted to visit the area. It's so close to San Diego yet far enough out to give a nice vacation feel in a private setting. We would love to spend time here again in the future.

Our family of ten had a wonderful time at "The Rock House". The pictures of your property describe it to a "T". The house is equipped with everything one would want and more. We especially enjoyed the comfy bed linens and thick, fluffy bath towels. The property manager was quick to answer any questions that we had. Our five grand children loved the lush lawn for games as well as the fabulous game room. The location was perfect for our needs. We would recommend this property without reservation. We hope to return next year for another terrific vacation. Thanks for helping us celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in great style. Bev and John

Nice house and great location

The house was great with room for everyone. It could use a better house cleaner, the kitchen cabinets were dirty and disorganized. The house was hot and was told the AC was not working??? Finally after 3 days we were told their were fans in the attic that we could use. GREAT! The kids enjoyed the yard and pool room. The road is noisy and too much trafic to walk kids to the beach. We drove everyday. Made the best use of a great house with family and friends. Thanks for everything.

Owner response:After reading this review I have found a few inconsistencies. The visitors stated that they were told that the air conditioning was broken, however we do not have air conditioning and never stated that we did. When we were told that it was a little warm we were happy to supply them with fans. They declined at first and said that they would be fine. When they called a couple days later and said that they did in fact want fans we supplied them to them promptly. Our rental has over 24 french doors and it was unseasonably hot, but we provided the renters with fans when asked. As far as the kitchen being dirty I have gotten the exact opposite reviews from our other guests. If you read the other reviews you will find the kitchen is well equipped and kept very clean. I pride myself in visiting my vacation home often to make sure my guests are very satisfied with their choice. I would not have invited the party to review my property if I thought it would be anything but complimentary. Thank you for your consideration! Teresa

From the time I saw pictures of the property, I knew it was perfect, and I was right! The home was perfect! It was clean, great info was provided, and the house had everything (and more) than we expected. The location is great, just a quick walk to the beach, and we actually grilled every night at the house! There was a huge outdoor table, and that combined with the grill, the portable fire pit and the stars, made for a perfect family evening every night! The game room is awesome, and kept our boys quite busy during any down time that we had. I would definitely recommend staying at Rock House. We are moving to San Diego in a year, and our stay definitely helped us make our decision!

Awesome Beach House!

We had a very nice stay at this home, primarily because the house was so well stocked with everything you could need or want! There were 9 of us, including 3 children, and there was plenty of room for us to all spread out. There were more than enough towels, bedding, soap, paper goods, plates, cups etc, unlike many other rental homes we've stayed at. There was so much to do to keep everyone entertained...the kids (and adults) loved the pool table, darts, croquet and bocce ball. The house was very clean and comfortable, including nice touches like live indoor plants and plenty of DVD's to choose from. The walk to the beach was a little long (especially for kids) and on a busy road, so you probably wouldn't want to walk if you were carrying lots of stuff, but it is a nice way to get some exercise and explore the area. Because the house is on a large lot, it is very private and quiet. Overall, just a very nice, relaxing atmosphere!
