Nita's cabin is a wonderful place to go to relax and/or as a starting point each morning for your adventure around the Skagit Valley. It was very much as described and met our needs perfectly. My only regret was that we didn't have more hours at the cabin since the view is gorgeous and very peaceful. Make sure you're there for sunset and be sure to have a glass of wine with you!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Touche! It's true about the view and the setting. Most people tell us they would have liked more "down time" at Nita's as it is an amazing setting. Two nights just gets you started, three nights makes you forget. Hope to see you back for the Snow Geese in the fall. Bob and Greta

My wife and I recently had the chance to stay in Nita's Cabin on Fidalgo Island. We were looking for a quiet, romantic, secluded get away, and Nita's provided just that. When you stay in a place like Nita's, if you're a novice to this sort of vacation rental (we were), you need to keep in mind you're staying in another family's cabin, not a strictly commercial unit, so you'll find evidence of their lives and lifestyle around you as you settle in to the inviting living space. The kitchen is fully supplied with an eclectic mix of gear that includes all the things you need for preparing, cooking, serving and eating. I should mention that we never did find the paper towels, napkins or coffee filters (they were probably there, but we couldn't track them down) so you might want to bring some paper goods with you. The gas fireplace in the seating area heats the cabin very well (it was rather cool, even cold outside that weekend) and provides great ambiance. The bedroom has a window that opens to provide views of the Sound through the living room picture windows that are just wonderful to wake up to. The cabin's location on a corner means you have a much greater sense of seclusion than you might have further up the street, where other cabins seem to invade each other's space more noticeably. If you're in town to shop and sample the local eateries, La Conner is just across Swinomish Channel, a short drive or reasonable walk from the cabin. If you want to just get away from it all, Nita's deck based hot tub, delightful views and many amenities will making staying hidden away easy and enjoyable to do. If you have kids, there's a great bunk house style bedroom for them ... separate from the grown up sleeping quarters. :) Be prepared to do your own dishes and laundry before you leave, and so long as you took good care of the place, you'll get your security deposit back in about a week, by our experience. We'd highly recommend Nita's to anyone looking for a quiet, cozy get away with a more personal touch than a hotel or commercial cabin.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed Nita's, sounds like you did up the town too! For next time, no worries, Nita's coffee maker has a gold filter, it doesn't require paper filters (and we provide cloth napkins in a drawer in the kitchen island). We agree it's much more completely furnished than most rentals and are glad you like the personal touches. As with all rentals, you do need to do your own dishes. It is a private home, so we don't have laundry service, so starting the laundry is much appreciated but not required. Thanks for taking such good care of Nita's, we are thankful to have such nice and thoughtful guests! We hope to see you back again.

Four women of a certain age, old friends, spent 3 nights here and we had a ball. The house is not fancy, rather it is eclectic and inspired in its decor, use of vintage/thrift store items. The owners must be artists because everything in the place has a cool factor. The setting is quiet, private and gorgeous. The living area is perfect for conversation, playing games, reading, eating, drinking and relaxing. Only one bathroom (no prob for us). Beds were very comfy, including the extra-long twin I slept in. Old stove but worked okay. If it's luxury you're looking for this is not your place. If you want a sweet cabin to spend quality time with friends or family, Nita's is highly recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We love to share Nita's and its true it is full of cool vintage stuff, including a great stove with colored/lighted push buttons We think its cabin fancy, although things purposely aren't matchy matchy. We do make sure the real luxury items are there. Comfy beds, comfy seating and a killer view! That is our definition of luxury! It's certainly not a generic condo experience, it's way more fun! Glad you enjoyed it.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our time at Nita's cabin. The view is spectacular and we really liked seeing all the different types of birds feeding out the kitchen and front windows. We had to buy some special food for the squirrels too and they were pretty happy. We watched a pair of eagles feed with provided binoculars, which was a treat. The whole environment felt like very relaxing and they have tons of odds and ends there that you just might need!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Barbara and David- We hope you come back to Nita's in another season to enjoy the seasonal changes. Thanks again for choosing Nita's. Greta and Bob

Nita's cabin was just what we were searching for. Not only was it clean and fully stocked with all that one would need, it's interior decor boasts the best of the Northwest. It's apparent that this property is a special retreat and one that the owners have taken great care in maintaining. Nita's is the perfect place to relax and refuel. Our girls were in heaven and asked when we could return. Long weekend getaways in scenic locations with family make memories that will last forever. For all of us, we will never forget our wonderful stay at Nita's.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Katie Your email that said your daughters are convince that fairies live at the cabin made us really happy, we agree! Glad you had fun and we hope to see you back. Best regards, Greta and Bob

Just returned from 2 nights at Nita's Cabin and had a a lovely time. Even in the midst of a wind storm, the bird watching was delightful. We had everything we needed to create a very relaxing, rejuvenating, and rewarding reunion with one of my dearest old friends. Thank you :-)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am always amazed at how many birds you can see from the windows at Nita's, glad you had a good time even in a storm! Thanks again for choosing Nita's! Greta and Bob

I managed to surprise my boyfriend with a getaway to somewhere he'd never been & that allowed him to be completely away & just relax; the location & accomodations here were perfect, plus it's dog friendly which was a major plus for me, since my dog is like our kid. We had great weather that allowed us to just sit on the deck, with a glass of wine (me) & bottle of beer (him), & just enjoy the warmth on our skin, peace & serenity of just breathing in & out. AFTER, of course, my dog (labrador) immediately found a shortcut down to the water & proceeded to enjoy frolicking to the fullest - it was his getaway too so, I couldn't be too upset. He got to fetch & splash/swim around & then zonk out in front of the fireplace on his bed. All the cabin ammenities were great; comfortable bed that you could look out to the water from, dvd player to enjoy a movie, comfortable chairs/couch, fully stocked kitchen, lounge chairs for the deck, & the hot tub looked inviting - we just didn't end up using it. The notes & instructions for everything were cute & very thoughtful - pretty much any question you may have, they answered. (Although finding the vaccum was a lil game of hide-n-seek.) I enjoyed filling up the bird feeders & just watching all the different birds come around. Plus the occasional squirrel - one is affectionately named Dorito now, after he went bonkers finding a stray chip that dropped & kept coming back for more. In addition to the little birds, the heron were plentiful, & on our last day we enjoyed multiple bald eagles as well. All in all just a great place! You're conveniently about 10 minutes from the town of La Conner & all it's shops, eateries & small grocery store too. (I highly recommend Seed's restaurant!)Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We love stories from our guests about good times at Nita's, we are glad to share Nita's good vibes! Glad you had a good trip!

My wife and I had the most relaxing weekend we've had in a long time. We we amazed by the panoramic views and all of the wild life. We watched in awe as up to six bald eagles flew within yards of the windows as the swooped in on their prey and returned to nearby trees to feast. The cabin is perfectly laid out and appointed. We hope to return many times in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I surprised my husband with a 3 night stay for his 50th birthday at the beautiful little cabin on the bluff. He said on the way home it was the best birthday present he had ever gotten. Nita's cabin is an experience you simply dont want to miss. We have stayed in many luxury hotels and condo's down through the years, but Nita's cabin has won hands down. It is so very cozy and peaceful and the instant you walk in you feel like you are "home" ! We made some fantastic memories with our daughter and our 2 grandkids. The hot tub was the icing on the cake and our youngest couldnt wait to get into it each night! Feeding the squirrels was top of the list. I would highly recommend taking the 45 minute drive to Burlington to the huge farmers Market and eat at the pizza place at the edge of the market. Well worth the trip. But my favorite was having our usual cup of coffee on the deck each morning..just something about watching the water and listening to the waves crash down below that give the day a whole new meaning. Put Nita's on your must do bucket list....but make sure you go there more then once in your life time. Its an experience you DONT want to miss.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a delightful 5 days at Nita’s Cabin. My wife and a friend were taking an art class at La Conner Art Studios and I was hanging out with our standard poodle. Nita’s accommodated the four of us quite well. The cabin doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside it is remarkably comfortable and charming. The view of Whidbey Island and Skagit Bay fills the entire west side of the cabin which went a long way in preventing cabin fever from our terrible weather this spring. There is a bird feeder on the deck that attracts lots of perching birds and the expanse out over the water gave us sightings of shore birds and otters. Had the weather been better we could have taken advantage of the many comfortable outdoor chairs and the hot tub on the deck. Nita’s obviously had a few remodels which were cleverly integrated into one comfortable space. The two bedrooms had the old outdoor windows still in place on now interior walls, and they can be closed and covered to provide privacy or left open to make it one large airy space. The heat appears to be a woodburning stove in the center of the cabin but is in fact a gas one that runs off a thermostat. With the ceiling fan it provide excellent even heat. The living room had comfortable couches and chairs. There is a flat screen TV that is hooked to the internet to allow streaming of Netflix movies and Pandora music. The Wi Fi worked just fine. We cooked several meals. The kitchen space was nicely laid out and well equipped with a large island, microwave, stove and refrigerator with ice maker. The dining room table could accommodate 8 easily. The beds were all firm and comfortable. Plenty of sheets and towels were available. We really appreciated the little touches like hooks on the back of all the doors. The second bedroom has a queen bed plus two bunk beds, with a cute western theme. Nita’s Cabin is an easy 10 minute drive from La Conner. We felt we were treated like new friends. Greta answered all our questions and refunded our damage deposit promptly. We had an excellent dinner at Seeds Restaurant, good beer at the LaConner Brewpub, and there's a great wine store (Hellams Vineyard) in La Conner that offers tastings and an outdoor patio on the water to sit with a glass of beer and a plate of cheese, olives, and sausage . We were disappointed with our dinners at Nell Thorne, with spices on oysters and salmon that just didn't work well.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Glad you had such a great time at Nita's, please come back for more!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Nita's Cabin for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. We were looking for a comfy spot with charm that had all of the appointments of home, namely a fully equipped kitchen. When we arrived at Nita's Cabin we were immediately immersed in the feeling of love and relaxation. The view when you walk in the front door is to die for! Every single thing about Nita's Cabin was perfect. You can tell this place has had many years of creating fond memories. It truly is a living thing. We will be going back as many years as she is open to us. We experienced 3 days in a row of full grown seals fishing in the cove, luckily they had binoculars for us to get an even better look. Hikes a plenty as well. Cheers to Bob & Greta for sharing such a wonderful place with the world! p.s. Don't forget to stop off and get some fresh crab, crack it right on the counter-top, pop a cork, and leave all of your worries behind!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our toddler son said "Trees! look at all the trees!" We said "Wow! Look at the water!". We arrived at sunset and enjoyed the spectacular view from the fire-warmed window-fronted living room. Our little cowboy loved sleeping in the cowboy-themed bedroom. And we slumbered peacefully in the master bedroom under the gaze of our protective gecko guardian. The only problem with our stay was that it was WAY TOO SHORT! We will definitely be back. Nita's is a very special place and you won't be disappointed if you have the pleasure of staying.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just spent a week at Nita's cabin; it was everything the posting said and more. The home is full of creature comforts. Just bring your groceries, your bathing suit (hot tub is a wonderful luxury) and your soul that needs airing out. As much peace and quiet as you need but with the perks of shopping and city amenities relatively near by. The tide goes out forever and the wild life surrounds you. Great for families or couples or mini reunions and perfectly situated so you get there from Vancouver or Seattle within 90 minutes.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time and really enjoyed the house. The property had everything we could have needed. The location right on the water made for much relaxing contemplation. It was so relaxing we didn’t want to leave. It felt like you were staying at a favorite Aunts vacation home. We all felt right at home the moment we opened the front door. The town of La Conner is very cute and full of friendly people. The property owners were great and bent over backwards for us since it was a very last minute vacation and on Memorial Day weekend. We know we will be returning, hopefully many more times.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our favorite things about your cabin: - The peaceful sound of waves lapping at the shore that can be heard while lying in bed. - The misty haze over the silver water in the morning. - The peace and tranquility of no traffic, the fresh air and the relaxing deck to while away the afternoon. - The decor, wall colors, floors, nice bath and the "little things" that catch your eye (eg the whale mobile). _ We loved the hot tub!! _ It's a short drive to Anacortes to the Brewpub for great food and beer! _The great CD collection!Did you find this review helpful?
