Take the Ferry across Newport Harbor to the "Fun Zone" and the Newport Pier. The Fun Zone offers boats for rent, parasailing, the Catalina Flyer which runs daily to Catalina and much more.
You can park your car and never drive on your vacation unless you want to go to the larger businesses off Balboa Island and at nearby Fashion Island, Corona Del Mar, Huntington Beach. You can even drive to Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm one day.
Balboa Island is called "the Jewel of Newport Harbor" and it is truly a wonderful place to visit.

My name is Carolyn Carr. I am originally from Michigan. I have lived on Balboa Island for 20 years - longer than I have lived anywhere else. Balboa Island is a unique place and a perfect fit for me. I am almost 65 years old and write a newsletter that is hand delivered to every house and business on the Island - The Island Breeze. I also have the Main Website for Balboa Island. Why the Owner Chose Balboa Island
Being on Balboa Island is like being in a separate time and space. The Balboa Island Boardwalk allows you to see many views of Newport Harbor not available from other locations. The Marine Avenue and Agate Avenue shops and restaurants mean that you can leave your car in the Carport and walk to shop and dine. This is a slice of paradise.
