Superb location made for a new adventure every day!

Close to Cashiers, Highlands, and Franklin, this house is centrally located for great shopping, dining, groceries, etc. Even better, the location is ideal for nature lovers. The creek was understated in the ad - it was a really good size behind the house and offered waterfalls and pools to explore up the hill further. The house was clean & well-maintained with a relaxing, casual layout. Lots of wildlife to see - birds, hummingbirds, salamanders, even cows down the hill. We had a terrific time and were glad to have chosen this place for our vacation rental. Definitely would come back.

We shared a week here with our best friends from Mississippi. This Big Buck Creek home is the perfect location to relax. Our days started with hot coffee while we watched hummingbirds feed at the beautiful windows and listened to the roar of the creek below. There is a hiking trail just a short distance up the road from the house. It takes you along the creek and opens into a meadow area about 1 to 1 1/2 miles from the beginning. Moss, ferns, woodland wildflowers, orchids and salamanders,if you look closely, were eye candy. There were a couple of places to access the creek easily for rests and pictures. Walking sticks found on the front porch were helpful. Evenings were spent either on the stone patio enjoying a fire (wood in the shed up the hill) or in the hot tub. I'm always a little hesitant about hot tubs but we found it to be perfectly clean and maintained. My friend is very petite and was happy to find the shallow seat! Waterfalls, shopping in Highlands, lunch on the deck at the Old Edwards Inn,dinner at Paoletti's were all enjoyed. Be sure to try a Thyme Out martini with lunch. We kayaked on the French Broad River at Rosman. Great outfitter there. Went to Asheville to tour the Biltmore and had drinks at the Grove Park Inn. Travel time is about 1 1/2 hours. Check out The Summer House for gifts, furniture and fabulous decor. They will have an Idea House next door opening soon that will be decorated to nines. The only negative of our trip was that it was over too soon. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy this house. The owners have done a wonderful job!

The moment you enter this home you are wowed. The hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, and views from the doors and windows are stunning. The kitchen is compact and completely functional with a super gas range and oven. There are plenty of high quality pots and pans for any meal. Even the nice selection of knives were all sharp. There are so many places to enjoy in this home.....the open living/dining/ kitchen area with the wood stove on the main level, along with a nice dining/BBQ deck.....a loft we dubbed the treehouse with a satellite tv....2 completely private bedrooms.....the master on the lower level with a gas fireplace, a screened porch and access to the hot tub deck. The drive to Highlands is magnificent as you pass some of the best waterfalls along the way. You can choose to be as active or quiet as you desire in this location. The roaring stream is loud and peaceful at the same time. Grocery shopping is easy and quite good at the Bi-Lo in Franklin, just a few minutes away. The owners are helpful and very pleasant to work with. There are 3 levels to this home, as well as a few shorter steps. I would keep this in mind if you decide to stay here as you always have to negotiate stairs. Adults will love this place....clean, architecturally interesting, and very well equipped. Our french bulldog had a great time too!

No unfulfilled expectations!

Our stay during the 1st week of October 2010 was wonderfully relaxing. Just my wife and I. Lots of reading by the fire in the great room or on the decks. We used the professionally maintained spa every night looking up to the stars and listening to the roar (yes roar, not trickle, great white sound, but not so loud as to be disturbing or distracting)) of the creek which is 30 feet below and immediately adjacent to the house). The adjoining chiminea was nice. Midway between Highlands and Franklin it is a great location to see waterfalls and hike. We caught 6 waterfalls and had 2 additional vista hikes. The owner must like to cook because their were all kinds of cooking accoutrements. The lower bedroom has a gas fire place tied to a thermostat to keep you warm. THIS PROPERTY IS EVERYTHING ADVERTISED AND THEN SOME. If we return to this area we will be glad to revisit this home. The owner was helpful and informative. I would recomend to family and friends. Wolfgang's Restaurant in Highlands was good. Bar B Que at the Farmers Market in Cashers was a great picnic lunch for Whitewater Falls. Fresser's Bakery on Oak St in Highlands has killer Cinnamon Rolls and other baked goods. Coffee and one of their cinnamon rolls out on the deck above the creek in the late morn is decadent.

What a great cabin to stay in if visiting Highlands. Our family had a wonderful time there. Our 5 year old daughter simply had the best time of her life and it's so close to lots of fun thing to do. The hot tub, the river, the soaking tub....all fantastic! We'll be back soon!
