Beautiful ocean side cottage

I took my parents on a vacation to see the East Coast of Canada (QC, ON, NB, NS and PEI). This was the nicest place that we stayed at. We arrived just after dark (construction) so we didn't realize how beautiful it was until the morning. We stayed in the other cottage which had a fully equipped kitchen, 2 beautiful bedrooms with very comfortable beds, a living room and a large deck. In the morning I woke up to the see the sunrise (breathtaking) and went for walk around Neil's Harbour. Within a few miles of walking along the water I met local fishermen and people leaving for work as well as others out for a walk. Everyone so friendly! Then I went and just enjoyed the beautiful view of the water as I watched some ducks swim around. I met our neighbour in the next cottage who came and took some beautiful pictures of the 3 of us by the water. Most of the pictures that we will frame were taken here. We then ended up going with her on a whale cruise a couple of miles down the road. A storm was coming in that day but I would highly recommend that everyone does that! The views of NF in the distance, the view of the Cabot Trail from the water as well as the tour of Neil's Harbour were amazing and something we will never forget. Then we found out that our Driver/Owner was Coast Guard which was apparent with how well he handled the boat. Within minutes we were back on the Cabot Trail and enjoying the rest of our trip. Our only regret was that our time spent here was too short. We will definitely be back if given the chance. The photos do not do this place justice. The owners were very helpful and professional. This is definitely the place if you want to experience a quiet, relaxing vacation to enjoy the amazing scenery of the ocean and Cape Breton's mountains.

Oceanside Retreat

We stayed only one night as we toured around Cape Breton. Wish it was longer. A perfect location, on the ocean, with all the facilities you could ask for. We picked up fresh lobster from the nearby plant, cooking it at home in the kitchen, which had all the necessities. 2 bedrooms are available. Very clean, spacious and quiet. Patio, BBQ , lawnchairs, washer/dryer, full kitchen. Great base to use for nearby hiking, golf, sightseeing. There are 2 cottages on the property. Only drawback was a bouy in the ocean nearby, which gave off odd honking sounds at night. All in all, Neils Harbour is a nice, quiet place to stay, friendly proprietors, clean. The price is excellent for what you get.

Owner response:Frank: The buoy is a navigation aide placed there by the Federal Government to assist fishing boats entering the harbour.Most people say it helps people get to sleep.Actually some of our guests leave the door open all night to allow the buoy lull them to sleep. Sorry if it didn't do that for you. Lloyd Lamey
