  The owners are very kind. They picked us up at the airport, helped us get groceries on the way to our accomadations and took us back to the airport for our departure. The greatest asset of the facility is the view from the upstairs porch,down the sandy alley to the gorgeous beach. It gives you that visual contact with the beach without the noise when the beach becomes crowded. The second best attribute is that both of the guest beds are firm. The biggest draw back is that the water comes out of the showers and kitchen faucet at a bare trickle. It takes about 10 minutes or more for the toilet tanks to refill. I asked people who were renting in nearby houses whether or not they had water pressure problems. They said their water pressure was just fine. The new resort next door is not what has caused the unacceptable water pressure in the house we were staying in. The listing description of the location was accurate. The photos were fairly good at representing the appearance of the rental property. It was clean enough but not particularly well maintained. Nearby activities that we enjoyed were primarily the snorkeling and walking along the beach to West End. It's fun to take the water taxi back to West Bay when the temparature is too hot to walk back. While we appreciate things the owners did for us, we would not stay there again because of some significant maintenance problems...mainly the absence of water pressure.

  We just spent a week at Sylvia's house on the beach and loved it. The description and pictures are spot on. It had plenty of space for our family of 4. Our teen spent much of the time reading in the hammock. The house is extremely clean, all the necessary kitchen supplies (including a coffee pot and microwave) are there for your use. A water cooler with purified water is also provided. The linens were all changed out mid way through our stay. We had a great time on the deck, especially the hammock, and made frequent trips down the short walk to the beach. My son spent hours on the beach building sand castles in the spot you can see in the picture. Sylvia picked us up at the airport and very graciously stopped at the main grocery store (which takes credit cards) so we could load up. We bought enough food for breakfast and lunches for the entire week - scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast cereals, milk, pancakes, pb&j, turkey sandwiches etc. West Bay Beach is lovely. Soft sand and incredibly beautiful water. There are enough restaurants up and down the beach to keep you fed for a week. Every one of them seems to have nightly specials (though they may be out of the main ingredient!) which helps the budget. We felt very safe both in the area around the house and up and down the beach at night. Since it is currently the low season, places were fairly empty. All in all the whole family wants to go back to both Roatan and if possible, rent this house for another vacation.

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
