Thank you True! Our party of 7 (which included 4 kids) all had a fantastic time while we were in New York March 13-18th. True offered great advice on sites to see with the kids, how to best get around and great places to eat! We loved the neighbourhood - especially the Therapy Wine Bar :) Our accomodations were clean, and safe and was a nice retreat at the end of busy day of sites and shopping. We would definitely return to the Macon Manor on our next trip to NY.

I treated my grandchildren, and 2 others to a long weekend in the City. We rented this wonderful place from True. The space was perfect for accommodating the 6 of us, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of individual privacy when needed; the kitchen and supplies were perfect for us; and the spacious bathroom a delightful surprise. It worked perfect for those of us who get up at different times in the morning so we could enjoy breakfasts and sometimes evening meals here at the apartment. The train was a short walk away and we quickly connected to downtown/midtown/uptown Manhattan as needed. There are plenty of options for groceries and great restaurants nearby. We'll be going back! True is also very welcoming and helpful - he is the best! I highly recommend you consider this as a first choice when going to New York.

our family of 4 enjoyed the stay at this apartment. The neighborhood was nice and a true new york look all over it. TRUE the owner provided great help and was there when ever needed extra help. the app it self have all what you need from kitchen stuff to personal care things. although the weather was little cold but the heating system was great keeping the appt at decent temperature. the location is so great, restaurants and deli are near by. Subway was really close with 24 hr line. so no matter how late you are you always get to get off subway just couple of blocks from the appt.

We are a band from cailfornia that were looking for a place to stay. I came across this apartment and immediately i wanted to know more. Keep in mind we are a band and we are carrying our guitars as we walk back and fourth to the subway to our venue. We had no problems with the neighborhood at all. and we were getting back very late. The neighborhood is very quiet! The apartment was just right! The description was accurate, the apartment was clean and door was opened for us to come in. I will definately recommend it to friends and famiy or anyone who is interested in visiting NYC Thanks for having us there! ~enkairos~

The listing was accurate - spacious, clean, bright, and quiet. Our family of 4 - including 2 teenagers- was very pleased and comfortable. The owner provided thoughtful extras like current guidebooks, DVDs, plenty of pillows and blankets, personal care supplies, and even spices and teas. He also took the time to give us some sightseeing tips that were tailored to our requests. The neighborhood is safe and well-kept; the subway about 6 blocks away provides a short trip to Manhattan. Street parking is no problem. For a meal in- Roccos pizza and other dishes were inexpensive, delicious, and generous in size. The only surprise was the extent of the 'housing segregration' in NY- a commentary on our world, but no affect on our stay. We would definitely come here again and would spend more time in Brooklyn.

Before booking this flat, we read all the great reviews (they were what made us decide to book it), and honestly the place lived up to all of them. We'd give it more than 5 stars if we could! It was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed to cook our meals. The foldaway table was perfect, big enough for all of us to eat together, and easily stored away when we were finished. The kids had plenty of books to read & movies to watch. The NYC guide books were very helpful, and the history books gave us context to the things we planned to see that we wouldn't have had otherwise. There's a nice wine shop a block away, and several restaurants and cafes at which we ate regularly. Peaches and Saraghena (sp?) for dinner and brunch were especially good. Lots of food, tasty drinks (try Peaches' "Brunch Punch"!), reasonable prices, lovely ambiance, good service, nice people. We were in the tube late at night and never felt unsafe. Also, we walked through the neighborhood with our kids as late as 2 in the morning without any problem (the streets were never deserted, and we saw police patrolling on foot and in cars). Everyone we met in the neighborhood and the tube stations were very helpful and friendly. If we stopped for a moment on the platform to look at our map, someone would stop to ask us if we were lost or needed help. We sat out on the front steps of the home eating ice cream from the ice cream truck and felt like real New Yorkers! The owner True was full of information about things to do locally and in the city. Very friendly and helpful. His suggestions helped us make the most of our time, and we were very glad we took his suggestion to spend more time in Brooklyn. We made a day of the Brooklyn Museum (much less crowded than Manhattan museums!), the Botanic Gardens, and Prospect Park (the zoo and the paddle boats were great fun). All in all it was a wonderful trip, and far and away a fuller, more pleasant and interesting (and more affordable) experience staying in Brooklyn at Macon Manor than previous trips in which we stayed in Manhattan hotels. We would recommend it to anyone and plan to stay here again on our next holiday.

My "baby" turned 30 in May and wanted to celebrate in New York City. I found True's apartment just by surfing the net. It was True's love of the history of this place that attracted me. I live in a large Federal style house that's about 200 years old, so I appreciate its history and the many guests I get to host there. Macon Manor lives up to everything said about it. The apartment is safe, and well kept. Having True downstairs was convenient when we ran out of anything. There isn't a lot of privacy due to the open nature of the apartment, so take that into consideration. It's like sleeping in a large dorm room. We were all family, so we didn't mind. We loved taking the A train and the daily walk to the subway through Fulton Park. We parked our car right across the street where it stayed for our 5 day stay. We would definitely plan to stay here again and anyone else considering it will not be disappointed.

We're a family of 7 from Massachusetts, and we stayed in Macon Manor recently. We flew into JFK, it was a short cab ride to the rental from there. The apartment was more comfortable than we expected. We stay in vacation rentals alot, and this one just had anticipated more of our needs than most. In addition to the stove and microwave, there was a coffee maker, blender, and toaster, so making our meals and protein shakes was convenient and saved us alot of money. There was a good selection of guide books that we used to get ideas about what to do each day, and the DVD's and HBO on demand were great for those times we wanted to have some down time from all the sightseeing we were doing. The train is just 5 minutes' walk, and there are lots of nice houses and gardens to look at on the way. Everyone is super friendly and there is a real sense of community. We walked around the neighborhood alot and it was all very nice and we felt safe. The city is only 10-15 minutes via the express train. The owner, True, was really helpful and was able to suggest places for us to eat in the neighborhood. Some of the best meals we had during our trip were right around the corner (we miss the coppacolo pizza at Saraghina!). We did all the touristy things in Manhattan (the Empire State building, Central Park, Ground Zero, and Broadway was all just one short train ride), but by the end of our trip, we wished we had a few more days to explore Brooklyn and Stuyvesant Heights more. We would definately stay here again and recommend it to all our friends.

This was my fifth visit to New York but the first time staying in Brooklyn. It was definately the way to go. Apart from the obvious savings over Manhattan hotels Brooklyn is really a cool place. Over four days we had three meals within two blocks of the apartment, all excellent in really delighful restaurants. When we did want to pop over to Manhattan for shopping and the sights it was a short hop on the A line. The rest of the time was spent in close by Williamsburg which I think is the hippest neighborhood in New York. The apartment itself was a great base for the six of us, warm clean and with everything we neeeded for down time. I'll definately return.

5 of us stayed at Macon Manor during NYC Marathon weekend in November 2010. True, the owner is an excellent host and will do anything in his power to accomodate your needs. Best part, he lives right below the appartment! Here is a summary of our stay: - Appartment really clean, huge and neat. - For the price, it's hard to find cheaper accommodation for up to 7 in NYC. - plenty of parking on the street if you drive to NYC. - Neighbourood is safe, we walked to a Deli Market 5 blocks away at 11:00 pm at night and didn't felt unsafe at anytime. There's some BMWs, Mercedes and other types of luxurious car in the neighbourood, so I confirm it's not a bad part of brooklyn! - Beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped and no bed bugs! - The shower is not the best but it does its purpose! - Subway access to Manhattan is easy and Time Square is accessible within 18 minutes. If your the type of traveler that needs to go back and forth in it's hotel room throughout the day, this is might not be the best place for you. But if your the type that doesn't mind leaving in the morning and coming back at night to relax after an exciting day in Manhattan, it's a good balance in terms of cost/distance

We loved staying at this venue. Both before and during our stay our host True, was very helpful. Bed Sty is only 15mins from Manhattan on the fast train. Trains runs all night so getting home from Manhattan is no problem. The apartment is a 5minute walk from the station. The great thing for us is that we could explore Manhattan and also more locally Brooklyn. The area is beautiful and full of parks and great places to eat. If you want to feel like you are part of 'real' New York - then this is your place to be. We really felt like we lived in New York during our stay. The apartment was clean, fully equipped and comfortable. We had a few questions raised from 'naive' friends on why Brooklyn? Is it safe? My only response after this stay is that if you want to belive what everybody says then you are silly. If you come with an open mind, and open heart then Brooklyn is the place to meet some great people - eat great food - and enjoy the best of New York.!

We just stayed at Macon Manor for 7 nights last week and it was just wonderful! Plenty of space, very clean and comfortable. It's great to head in to Manhatten for the day then come back to the peace and quiet of this great apartment and cook our own dinner when we were sick of eating out! I would highly recommend it and will stay there again. It's a must to go to Saraghina restaurant, everything you need is in very close proximity so no need for a car but if you do have on there is loads of parking on the street. True was very helpful, there are maps and books and DVDs in the apartment, it's very well equipped and taken care of!

Enjoyed our stay tremendously, felt safe, and True oh goodness hes a Saint. If you need a place to stay he comes with my highest recommendation. We left things he helped get them back home. He was great in helping us new comers to the city to maneuver around the city and the subway is just a 4 block walk. Call True.

I stayed in the apartment from Sept 17th through Sept 21st 2010. My husband and I, my best friend from Germany and my cousin and her husband, also from Germany. We had plenty of room. It was super clean and it was the best feeling I have ever had staying in a place away from home. The location was great, also easy access to the subway...5 minutes walk. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood, very relaxing. The apartment had everything and more than we needed. The owner was VERY helpful and pleasant. My husband left his backpack with his laptop, money, ID cards in the apartment. True (the owner) was so kind and mailed it over night to us to our next stay in Washington D.C. We could have not asked for a better place to stay. We are planning to go back with our Children one day. I would recommend this place to anyone, friends and relatives. It is much much better than any hotel. The listing description is very accurate, also the photos reflect the rental's appearance...it is better than the photos can show. Thekla, Greensboro NC

I stayed in this apartment while waiting for my apartment to be completed (relocated to NYC from Chicago). My visit was a great stay, in this charming Brownstone. Great tree-lined block, very quiet (the block and building). The owner, True, is great! I wish I could have stayed longer. The apartment was spacious, very clean and well maintained with a HUGE bathroom. My mom and dog, Max enjoyed the apartment as much I did. The variety of DVDs were an added incentive. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone visiting New York.

This Apartment takes its charme from the beautiful renovated house. We (two adults an two daughters aged 10 and 13) spend a week there. The neighborhood is friendly and quiet over night. There are nice restaurants just a block away. The metro (A -Line) took just a little time to manhattan and after hours of walking through the cuty it was always a relief coming back to the apartment in bedford/stuywesant. The neighborhood looks pretty much like the settimgs in the spike lee movie "crooklyn" which was shot just a block away. The five suitcase rating is as well earned because of the very helpful landlord True, who offered his help anytime. A nice DVD -Collection an a lot of books are provides as well as Wifi. Due to oldness of the place, bathroom and kitchen are not the newest standard.

We spent four nights and enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean and spacious and we appreciated the extensive library of books and DVDs. The picture books about the subway and Brooklyn Bridge were especially fun to read. The neighborhood was interesting and the subway a few minutes' walk away. It was a bit far from the city - typically a good half an hour after waiting for the train, but it was not a problem since we didn't have a schedule to keep. It was nice to have a kitchen for breakfast and the living room to relax in after a long day. If you like historic neighborhoods and brownstones, I would recommend the apartment for a NYC visit.

We are a family of 5 and stayed a week at the end of May 2010. True was helpful and the apartment very clean and we felt very secure. The area was really interesting with useful local shops/restaurants and we felt safe at all times. Brooklyn was fascinating and we travelled all round on the local (and easy to find/understand) bus routes. It was a way to get a real feel of the place. We loved visiting the Prospect Park area but also Williamsburg and historic downtown Brooklyn area. We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge! Manhattan was easy to get to and we had some great days there but we loved coming back to Brooklyn.

We had a great stay at the Macon Manor. The quiet nights in Brooklyn made for a welcome respite from the fast pace of our Manhattan days. It's just a few minutes' walk to the express train (which always ran very regularly), and the walk was beautiful--lots of old townhomes and mansions and stately churches. People in the neighborhood were an interesting mix of people from all over the world and were very friendly. We always felt safe--even when coming back late at 10 or 11 at night. The home itself is tastefully decorated and very well stocked. We had everything we needed to prepare our morning and evening meals (which saved us a lot of $). There were a stack of games, coloring books, and toys for our youngest, and our teenagers kept themselves busy reading and watching cable and DVD's (there were plenty of books and movies provided). There are also some wonderful local eateries--Saraghina (an amazing brick-oven pizzeria), Peaches (great BBQ and soul food), Therapy Wine Bar and Bread Stuy Coffee House were the best. All of them much more affordable than what we had access to on past trips. There were 7 of us (3 adults and 4 kids) here for 10 days, and we still felt like we had room to breathe, and we saved a ton of money by being able to stay all together in one rental. The owner, True, was able to give us all the info we needed to help plan our days (with the help of plenty of guide books, maps, brochures, etc.). We all had a blast and we can't wait to stay at the Macon Manor again. Money well spent!

My family and I stayed in this apartment over Christmas vacation this past December. We were a family of 5 and had plenty of room for both my husband and I and our 3 children. The kitchen area made it easy for us to eat in the morning before we left for the city for the day and we could save a little money. The property was only a few blocks from the metro and we were able to be downtown within about 30 minutes with the express train. Very convenient and we didn't have the expense of a taxi or a rental car. Since we have small children, we came back in the early evenings and could relax and choose a movie from the DVD collection or play a game. This was an ideal rental situation for our family since most hotels would make you rent a suite to accomodate 5 people. We had far more room, the apartment was clean and had all the essentials we needed. The owner and his family were very sweet and provided information as we needed it. We had a wonderful experience in Brooklyn.

We very much enjoyed our stay. We especially appreciated the small touches, such as the movie selection, the books about Brooklyn, the posted maps, etc. The Apartment was comfortable and clean. We spent most of our visit at Coney Island, as we were performing at the Coney Island Rockabilly Festival Burlesque Show. Coney Island has to be one of my favorite places to stay in the world, a true American Landmark. New Yorkers are friendly, and proud of their city. There is no one looking down on you for anything that you are. It's humbling. People's blood, sweat, and tears are the same everywhere, but this city has serious class, and wicked style to boot. I heart NY, I really do. Thank you so much.

Stayed 3 nights with husband and 3 kids. I was uneasy about the area as we drove in at night, but daytime felt better about area. Super easy access to quick subway into Manhattan. Apartment was spacious and had everything we needed for a homebase for daily excursions into the city. Took cabs home at night for about $30 since didn't want to walk from subway to apartment with kids in the dark. Master bed was comfy, but one of matresses daughter slept on in bunk was almost too lumpy for her to sleep on. Kids loved the place though! Lots of movies for their downtime. Next time will probably pay up for digs in the city, though, even though this apartment was comfortable, spacious and affordable.
Owner response:Thanks for your feedback! Yes, the value of staying outside the normal tourist areas of the city really depends on one's own comfort zones. Staying at the Macon Manor offers one a slice of the real lives of real Brooklynites, and it's much different (and much quieter) than Manhattan, and again, whether that's a good thing or not depends on one's own sense of what feels right. I'm so glad you brought that mattress to my attention. I knew that mattresses that come with a set are not always top-quality, but I didn't know that that one had gone downhill quite so quickly -- and no one else had mentioned having any problem with it. In any case, I went right out and got a new, much better mattress, and it eagerly awaits your next visit. Thanks again!

We had read articles about Brooklyn in various magazines and such, but those articles only scratched the surface. Manhattan is great, of course, but it's also a lot to take in. If we had stayed in some hotel in the city, we probably would've only seen the side of the city that tourists normally see, but staying in an actual neighborhood in Brooklyn was a much more fulfilling experience. We talked to people who have lived here all their lives, and you can sense the pride and love they have for the place they call home. We spent at least half the time we were here exploring Brooklyn, and everything we wanted to do was relatively close by. The subway was only a few blocks away, but for those times when we felt like pampering ourselves, we called the local car service, which was usually here by the time we got ourselves outside, and the fare (per person) worked out to be the same as a subway ride. The apartment was great. Having an actual kitchen in which we could prepare meals saved us a lot of money, and there were a lot of guide books and maps to assist us in planning our time here. The wi-fi was helpful too -- we could go online to check the weather, get info about the things we were visiting that day, and even plan our subway routes. The proprietor (True) was great. He was able to answer all our questions and point us towards some great local spots. We will definitely stay here on our next visit.

This apartment felt more like staying at a friend's place than in a rental. The weather was a little rainy during our visit, but we were actually content to spend a couple days around the house. There were lots of good movies to watch on DVD (Borat, Napolean Dynamite, Shrek), and books to read (Harry Potter, short stories, Dr. Seuss), toys, games, and coloring books for the kids. We would go for brunch at a nearby restaurant (make sure to visit "Peaches" and "Saraghina"), then take a short walk around the beautiful neighborhood, and then back home for some much-needed quiet time. Of course we also spent a lot of time exploring the city, so much so that we were glad to be able to retreat from it at the end of a long day. All in all, we felt very comfortable in the space and it had everything we needed to feel at home. The owner was very helpful with info about transportation, local services, etc. Highly recommended.

We are a family of 7 from Provo, Utah. This was our first trip to the "Big Apple." We really didn't know too much about NYC, but when we saw that this apartment was less than 15 minutes from Manhattan (about 12, actually), we figured it made much more sense to stay here over some hotel in the city -- which would've been much more expensive to accommodate all of us. We estimated that we saved over 65% of what we would've paid for 2 rooms in a hotel -- a savings of about $1,800. We all really, really enjoyed our stay here. We met and spoke with all kinds of people in the neighborhood, and found everyone to be very friendly and genuinely warm. We spent a lot of time at the local coffee house and restaurants. True, the owner, was able to give us a lot of info about where to go and what to do, both here in the area and in the city. We'll stay here next time we come!

My family of four stayed at True's place during spring break, 2009. True was a great host who made us feel welcome in the neighborhood and helped us navigate the area. He was especially helpful, and genuinely concerned, when a member of our party became ill for a couple of days during our stay. We were not familiar with Bedford Stuyvesant prior to our week at Macon Manor, but when we left at the end of the week, we felt sorry to leave it behind. Macon Manor is within convenient walking distance of the A train, Utica station. We felt safe in the area by day and night. Macon Manor is a great choice for visitors to New York, and will be on my short list for future visits!

We spend our Christmas vacation this year in New York. We have 3 children and were staying for 18 days, so it was very important to find a comfortable place to stay and rest in order to have a succesful vacation. This appartment happened to be our perfect headquarter, warm and spacious. In addition, the owner was as kind as you could ask. Not only helping us when requested, but showing with many details that he cared. For instance, there were brand new children books and board games. It is in a mainly residential area of lovely brownstones, friendly and safe. You can feel a sense of community. In addition, there are many shops near by. We bought what we need mainly in any of the 4 Delis that there were in a row. We make friends with the guy in one of the Delis. I would specially recommend a take-away Chinese (they also served standard American food such as chicken wings, French fries,...) where we got much of our suppers. It was not only delicious, it was the cheapest food we found in the whole city. Last practical point for a tourist is that it is close ( 5 minutes walk) to a subway station where you could get to Manhattan with either local or express trains. First days we waste too much time in local trains, until we realised how much faster are express ones (you can reach lower Manhattan in 10 minutes). Avoid the same mistake. To summarize, an excellent choice for a family vacation.

Lovely, atmospheric old brownstone that sleeps four (comfortably) or six (a bit of a squeeze) and offers easy access to Manhattan at a far lower price than more central digs. No central table to eat around but has most other resources (TV, DVD, fridge, cooking, shower, nearby shops, cafes, and laundry), and the neighbourhood is pretty quiet. True was very helpful and we had a great time.
Owner response:It is certainly true that maximum comfort for up to 7 people necessitates doubling up in the full- and queen-size beds -- 7 people averse to getting that cozy are in for a bit of a squeeze. We very much understand the concern about the central table upon which to dine. When designing the space, it came down to a choice between a full dining table, or sleeping accommodations for 2 more people, we chose the latter. The good news is that we finally found a high-quality family-size folding table that should suit most people's needs. Thanks again for your comments and we look forward to your next visit!

Macon Manor provided a wonderful location for a family break. With relations flying into JFK; the location was perfect and inexpensive to reach by cab and subway. All six of us, aging from 7 - 75 enjoyed the friendly locale and True was an obliging and discreet host. The neighborhood provided a convenient, clean and friendly base after a long day Manhattan and we found ourselves spending more time in Brooklyn, where there is so much to discover. Peaches Restaurant and Bread Stuy were very cool places to hang out and the family run bodegas and cafes provided great inexpensive eating options. We will definitely be back!........

We had a wonderful, fun filled, action packed weekend while staying at this very nice brownstone in Brooklyn. It was convenient to the subway and also things to do in the area. True gave us some great ideas for sightseeing. One of which was walking the Brooklyn bridge which was definitely a must. With five of us the apt. worked out well. We cannot wait to go back to New York to rent again!

This large apartment is perfect for families or couples. We loved the neighborhood: peaceful, safe, beautiful architecture, friendly people and lots to see and do. Only a short walk to the subway and approximately 15 minutes trip to downtown Manhattan. We enjoyed our daily morning coffee at Breadstuy and dont miss the great atmosphere and food of Peaches (both on Lewis avenue). True, the owner, really goes the extra mile to make his guests feel at home. Next time we visit New York, we would definitively stay at Macon Manor again.

My wife, her daughter and I stayed at Macon Manor for four days in September 17-21, 2008. We were looking for an apartment in New York for a short family vacation after the WYSTC 2008 Conference and we found Macon Manor in Brooklyn to be the perfect place. The whole Bedford Stuyvesant area is lovely, especially around Macon Street with all the treed streets and nice brownstone buildings. People are very friendly and much more polite than in London or Paris. The 5-minute walk to and from the Utica Ave subway station, through Fulton Park, is very nice, and my wife was telling me "I felt safer than in the métro in Paris". True (the apartment owner) recommended the nearby café (Bread Stuy) and restaurant (Peaches Brooklyn), where we had excellent breakfasts and a great dinner on our last evening. Peaches does not have a liquor licence so they sent us to a little wine store a block away, where I found a very good rosé Rioja that went very well with our pork and beef ribs (both cooked to perfection). The service was great, performed by the ever smiling staff. I highly recommend Macon Manor, very well maintained and nicely furnished by True, who also thought of filling up the fridge with water bottles, and the kitchen with coffee and tea, all very much appreciated on arrival and during our stay (like the numerous books in the living room that taught us the history of the Brooklyn bridge and helped us plan our visits). The apartment was much better than others we rented in the US or in other countries, and next time I or my family go to New York for work or for a holiday, we'll return to Macon Manor for sure. We'll just book the 3rd floor apartment for a change next time. Staying at Macon Manor in Brooklyn is a great and much cheaper alternative to any hotel or apartment rental in Manhattan. It gives an easy, safe and fast access to all New York tourist attractions and business districts, while offering the unique and original character of the Bedford Stuyvesant area in Brooklyn. BQ

This apartment was beautiful and True (the owner) was so nice and accommodating! It was walking distance to the train that takes you right into Manhatten and it was a piece of cake to figure out. The apartment itself was fantastic! It was clean and nicely furnished - the whole experience was great and a great price too! Thank you!

Having arrived at our apartments I was more than happy to see what an authentic Brooklyn Townhouse such as Macon Manor was like! The description was just as it was mentioned and seen in pictures and the location and layout was perfect. Albeit climbing a flight of stairs with six suitcases can be slightly exhausting but we should have packed light! We came to Brooklyn to go to the Labour day Parade and visit sites, shopping and night time activities such as going to bars and clubs etc. Macon Manor has a fantastic location being a 15 minute walk or less to the parade, close to shops and a busy high street and an abundance of restaurants there! Shopping is simply a train ride away to Manhattan and the train stations are 5 minutes away of which there a number to go from in the area. Same applies to bars and restaurants in the Manhattan or surrounding area it was very easy to get there a 20 minute train journey or less from the apartment. Or alternatively a cab can easily be taken if preferred but not necessary as trains are 24 hours! The people and the area were one of the most positive attributes. Honestly You can barely walk past someone without them saying a brief 'Hello' and 'Good Afternoon'. The area has much trees and flower pots everywhere! The townhouses are lovely and just add a warm touch to the authenticity of the area. We went out both day and night and had no problems it is busy enough so as not be scarily quiet at night for women especially but not at all menacing. As long as you carry yourself well you will have no problems here you literally feel at home straight away. True our Landlord was more than helpful, immediately welcomed us, gave us information on local activities and Fun days and often gave us directions to get about! The Apartment was thoroughly cleaned, spacious, air-conditioned and tastefully decorated. I would 100% recommend Macon Manor and I shall be staying there the same time next year! This is a fantastic apartment for as little as a couple or a group like ours of 5! More than accommodating! I recommend eating at Melanie's a wonderful West Indian restaurant on Fulton Street ask anyone where it is but its less than 10 /15 minutes away and Fritz Restaurant even closer in proximity was also lovely! Or jump on the train and go to Excellent Dumplings in Chinatown! In no uncertain terms this was honestly a fantastic stay! Natalie, U.K, London.

I recently stayed in True's apartment for 5 days with some friends. It was very clean and spacious - just as the pictures show. And we loved the free bottles of water given as we found ourselves dehydrated after spending our days shopping!!! The neighbourhood is nice, clean and neighbours friendly. We didn't want to stay in Manhattan as this was too 'touristy', so True's place was perfect for us. If you do want to go into Manhattan for shopping/clubs - it's a short ride on the subway (A train from Utica couple of blocks down). True was also very helpful/knowledgeable and we will definitely be staying with him the next time we visit!!

great location in a solid, original neighborhood in Brooklyn. Enjoyed in particular the immediate environs to Macon Manor, with unique, non -touristy resto's like Solomon's Place, or a small cafe/internet spot like Food for Thought. Owner was always available when needed and very helpful and informative. 5 short blocks to A and C trains which whisk you to other interesting parts of Brooklyn, and on into downtown or mid-town Manhattan.

When we saw the pictures on the site, we were impressed, but the apartment looks just as nice in person. We've never been to NY, so we were unfamiliar with Brooklyn, and the area that the house is in, but we were very pleasantly surprised at how friendly everyone was! People actually say hello to you on the street! We felt very safe, and the neighborhood is just lovely. Our kids had a great time too, as there were books & games to keep them occupied. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable, and when we did have a request, he saw to it very quickly. It was very easy to get into the city, and we were able to ride the trains at various times of day, and never had any problems. We actually had a rental car, but ended up not using it much. We left it parked right in front of the house. We very heartily recommend this rental and will stay there again next time we're in NYC!
