Family Reunion

Guest: PD1408 (Seattle, Washington)
Date of Stay: 09/02/11 Review Submitted: 09/14/11

I have a very large family that lives in the Rockaways across the bridge and I came in from Seattle with my kids & grand children - I rented this property due to having many come into town for my Mothers 86th birthday and Labor Day Family Reunion - the home is very spacious and very well kept. My daughter rented a place on the beach in Rockaway had 9 kids in a 2 bedroom unit, once they saw this property they wished they had it. It accommodates many and Micheal will make sure all are comfortable. Its a very relaxing place in the morning and evenings. When renting I thought it was the whole house, found out when I arrived the house is divided into two units..there was another group sharing the property but they have their own privacy as we did along with seperate entrances. Was concerned with all my family memember possibly clashing with another large group but all worked out. The other group were very nice and from Germany :) It was perfect

What A Great Find!

Guest: fogcitymom (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 05/12/11 Review Submitted: 05/18/11

In NY for a college graduation, our family stayed 5 days at this lovely getaway. A perfect respite from The City, yet minutes away by subway; our experience could not have been better! Michael is a great host, lives nearby and is available if needed. Broad Channel is very reminiscent of little villages in England, very charming and seemingly untouched by the crazy era in which we now live. Some excellent restaurants in nearby Howard Beach made evenings leisurely and enjoyable. Hope we have an opportunity to return!

A wonderful New York experience

Guest: carol (belgium)
Date of Stay: 10/30/10 Review Submitted: 12/03/10

We had a week in New York at the beginning of November. Myself, my husband and our 6 children aged 8 to 17 were delighted to be staying in Michael's house. It was spacious yet cosy, warm and well equipped with fantastic views, atmosphere and a very interesting, friendly neighbourhood. The daily trip into Manhattan was fun and different each time and there was always something going on to interest the children Michael was extremely helful and I would warmly recommend his property. We hope to return there ourselves one day, but in the summer to enjoy his terrace!

NY Staycation

Guest: Wendy & Tom (Brooklyn)
Date of Stay: 09/05/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

Ideal spot for a long weekend away from the grind in Manhattan. Watching the sunset from the terrace outside the master bedroom on the 2nd floor; riding bikes over the bridge to the beach at Riis Park; birdwatching in the Jamaica Bay Reserve; falling asleep in cool, fresh air (no air-conditioning needed, even on the hottest days, with the cross-breezes coming through at all angles).

Relaxing wedding weekend

Guest: Country mouse in the city (Torrington, CT)
Date of Stay: 07/22/10 Review Submitted: 07/27/10

We stayed 7/22-7/25 while attending my nephew's wedding. The house was described accurately and was clean and well maintained.. The view of Manhattan was especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset. One night we even witnessed a display of God's lightening "fireworks" and later real fireworks in the distance (someone said it was Coney Island). The house was extremely convenient for our needs concerning the activities of a wedding weekend. Each of our guests had their favorite activity from bird watching, plane watching, sunbathing on the deck, to sleeping with the soothing sounds of the bay lulling them to sleep. Although I do not plan to return to the hustle of the city, I highly recommend this property. It is a great place to stay and you will find Michael a pleasure to rent form.

We had a fantastic time - Micheal was very helpful and even took us on a boat trip around the bay. It was great to come back to a peaceful house in the suburbs after each hectic day in Manhattan. Broad Channel is a very quiet neighbourhood and with a subway stop a 10 minute walk away - ideally situated. The house is very homely and comfortable - with a fantastic view of Jamaica bay from the balcony. The only draw back was the flight home - we will return but will fly with Virgin or American airlines next time!

I'd like to say thanks to Michael. The stay was a pleasure. I look forward to staying again. The home is very close to public transport in New York, not far from the beach, and has a lovely sunset view on the spacious deck. The house is also well cared for. Since the place is VERY new, I'd say the only thing that could happen is some more grass and plants in the yard. BUT, it's not muddy--never had that impression! Great, great place. Thanks so much!

Great place to stay for everyone not caring about a 45 minute train ride into down town NY. We really enjoyed waking up with a great view across the Bay on the Manhattan skyline and going to sleep with it. Michael was a great help! Many thanks.

Right on the water with spectacular views of the city and the bay, nature preserve/sanctuary. So cozy and comfortable -- I felt I was on a cruise ship with the windows right above the water. It certainly didn't feel like I was in New York City, yet close enough to see the skyline, which made it a perfect vacation destination for our 27th annual Super Bowl weekend reunion retreat. The hosts were incredibly friendly and gracious, and the ideal location where we could interact instead of enduring the cold, impersonal limits of a hotel -- good money-saver too. Everything top notch...in fact, I'm reluctant to be so superlative because I want to go back and don't want to compete for availability :-)... but the truth is, for an affordable vacation venue at an affordable, warm, fun and creative lodging alternative in New York City, it just doesn't get any better...enjoy!
