Private Homes, Frosty Acres lodge description
Our beautiful, recently built, Canadian-log home offers spectacular views of the Continental Divide, beds for an extended family of a dozen or more, and a fifteen-minute drive to Winter Park/Mary Jane ski resorts (the driveway and county road are plowed). The entire front of the house is spanned by picture windows and a deck.
The alpine and Nordic skiing are world-class. In summer, the fishing, hiking, rafting, and mountain biking are superb (we have all the trail books and guides).
Our family loves this second home, and we use it when we can re-gather our teenagers and college students to do so. We just began renting in 2008. Because we are acting as our own rental agents and are interested in renting only to responsible groups and families with a potential interest in return rentals, we are asking 25% less than the going market rate for a house of this quality and size near a Rocky Mountain ski resort.

Lovely lodge perfectly suited for family gathering
Lovely lodge perfectly suited for family gathering
We had the opportunity to stay at this lodge for a week so 7 of us spanning 3 generations could experience time for fellowship, skiing and just plain relaxing. The views of the valley below were spectacular from every room in the house; and there was ample room for everyone. The spacious dining area was perfect for our meals together, and the kitchen had everything needed to whip up meals from simple to grand. Plus the house was only 10 minutes away from Fraser's main drag; and another 5 minute to nearby Winter Park. The skiiers in our group spent two days downhill skiing and described it as "incredible", and another fun-filled two days cross country skiing. It didn't hurt that we arrived on the heels of a good snowfall; but enjoyed sunny, calm days most of the week. Yesterday it was delightful for us all to wake to a new 3-4" snowfall; and see it snow off and on all day long. We all savored this week together in this special house in a beautiful part of Colorado. We hope to return again in a warmer month to see the change in the countryside.
