If anyone is thinking of visiting London, this is well worth looking at. We have always stayed at hotels, but in the furture we will be booking stay here. Short walk to tube station (Old Street) few stops and you are in the West End. Bus stop also takes you to West End. We purchased day tube/bus passes, saved us a lot of money and we made use of them every day. View from window was great, can't fault the apartment.

We've just returned from a week in this apartment. It's a beautiful place: clean, well equipped, secure and spacious. Two bathrooms simplified life for us (family of four including two teenage daughters). It's nicely decorated but some of the items may be a little too tempting and fragile for very young children. The apartment is 100m from Old Street tube station and bus stops. There are two small supermarkets within 100m, several sandwich shops and restaurants. It's an easy walk down to the Thames (Globe Theatre, St Paul's etc.). Communication with the owner was prompt, clear, pleasant and helpful. Basically: you pay less than hotel prices for something much roomier and more convenient!

Myself and 2 friends stayed at this flat for a week in Sept. and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to London. The flat itself is exceptionally well maintained, bright & airy and has a balcony to enjoy the views of the area or to simply relax on after a day of sightseeing. Transportation is excellent, the Old Street tube station is about a minute walk away and several bus routes stop right outside the front door. The flat is just as seen in the photos given on the website so there were no surprises. There is an abundance of tourist information provided in the flat and Philip sent me quite a lot of information even before we left for London. Security is excellent with a 24 hour concierge and a rather formidable gate at street level. Philip & Derek done a wonderful job, thanks again guys.

Stayed in this apartment for almost 2 weeks at the end of August and beginning of September. Very comfortable place, high security building with concierge. My husband and I and my 'senior' parents felt very at home here. A much better choice than staying at a hotel and you have the added benefit of being able to cook breakfast and even casual meals if needed. Well equipped, comfortable beds and the wonderful assistance of Haji and the other concierges for things like getting taxis, housecleaning, and issues with WI-FI, etc. I would highly recommend this apartment as an alternative to staying in a hotel or B&B - perfect for families with children or couples.

I travelled to London with 3 friends and wanted to stay in the City. This flat was fabulous - spacious, light, clean and well equipped - the balcony overlooking the City really made it! It was in a great location close to Hoxton,Spitalfields, Liverpool St and walking distance to the Tower of London. Transportation was easy too with access to several bus routes and tube stations. Would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat - FAR better than any hotel - in fact there are even some coffee shop downstairs!

Great Apartment. Spacious and well-appointed. My Daughters and wife loved the heated towel racks. Great view, very comfortable, nicely furnished. Excellent location for the Underground and the buses...We very very surprised how convenient it was to get to the west end for theatres and to the river for attractions etc.. Great coffee shops at the base of the building. No worries for our first trip as a family...that is worth the cost of the apartment itself.

We stayed at the unit in late May 2011, and could not have been more pleased! All of the earlier reviewers have said it all. Tube could not be more convenient, three groceries within five minutes, bus outside the front door, 24-hour concierge for any question or problem. Beautifully decorated, with kitchen completely furnished with everything you might need. Gorgeous views just as shown in pictures. This place is a gem at a reasonable rate, and the calendar showing all the future bookings reflects it. Book this one early, or it will be unavailable...for good reason. We hope to return soon.

We stayed for a week in April and loved it! Being so close to the tube station and a bus stop right across the street made it easy for us to get around with out a car. There are fantastic restaurants and pubs, or grocery stores within walking distance, so you can stay in or go out. The concierge was friendly and helpful with any needs or questions we had. They also had many maps and guide books of London and things about the local area. Its a great place you won't be disappointed!

We (a couple and our teenage son) spent a week in this lovely apartment in April 2011. The place is exactly as advertised: well-located, clean, spacious, comfortable. The layout was perfect; our teenager's room was at the end of the hall, so he could snooze in the morning and we didn't have to tiptoe around. He also had his own bathroom! The Old Street tube stop is very close (half a block away) and Moorgate only a short walk. The supermarket across the street was very convenient (and had remarkably good croissants). Caffe Nero downstairs had great coffee, and the folks who work there were very nice. The owners provided (in advance) a wealth of information about transit options, restaurant recommendations, places to go. There are lots of London guidebooks and maps in the apartment. All in all, a wonderful pied a terre in London.

We are regular vacationers to London and this is the best place we have ever had. The flat is roomy, modern, in perfect working order and clean. The concierge staff of the very secure building are attentive and helpful. The balcony allows easy access to fresh air for those who need it. The view is spectacular and the neighbourhood is smashing. Great restaurants, galleries, shopping, markets and lots of history. Even though the area is bustling with activity, it quiets down at night time for easy sleeping. The Underground is a block away so you can be anywhere in London in a half hour or less. This will be our first choice for all future visits to the best city in the world.

We are home from our great trip to London. The apartment was fabulous, very comfortable, spacious and beautiful decorated. The floors to ceiling windows give a great view to the City. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. The free wifi was excellent, able to stay in communication with kids at home. Hagi and the rest of the staff were very helpful and patience with us Yanks!! The tube stop down the street and the bus stop in front of the building made traveling around London so easy. We became regulars at the Sainbury’s across the street. Even the weather cooperated for the most part!! Thanks so much for all your excellent advice. I think we managed to see most of the sights but already have a list of what we want to see and do on our next trip. Look forward to renting your flat again in the future.

My husband, 14 year old daughter and I stayed here over New Year's week and had a great time! Philp answered all our questions quickly and was very helpful. The apartment was immaculate, very comfortable and everything was in good working order. It was quiet at night and no traffic noise. We cooked a few nights and found everything we needed. There is a new Sainsbury grocery store across the street for quick shopping. There is a couple cafe's right next to the building and a new pasta and pizza place called "Yard" over by the round-about that is open Sundays (most restaurants are closed Sunday) The best part of the flat is the location - with a tube stop down the block and a bus stop in front of the building. You can get everywhere you need to get to very easily. We never used a taxi! The concierge is always there for any questions and the building is very secure. Dont hesitate to book this apartment!

The ornaments and artefacts and paintings etc from your obvious numerous trips abroad are wonderful . Even the impala cushions which we recognised from Africa and we loved the giraffe!! Our friends were very impressed with everything. Many thanks. Thank you also for providing the wide range of London literature too and your cd choice we loved!! . Especially worth a mention is the exceptional standard of cleanliness in the apartment. A credit to your staff. Please tell them how much we appreciated them . Warm regards Lawrence and Maureen

Our family stayed here for 12 days during Christmas 2009. It was absolutely wonderful! We wanted to stay in a neighborhood and see what it would be like to live in London. Philip & Derek’s flat fit the bill perfectly. We felt very safe and comfortable in this security building and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The flat is roomy and well appointed. It’s perfect for a family of four. Our teenage children (boy & girl) slept in the 2nd bedroom with twin beds and my husband and I slept in the master bedroom. It was nice having 2 bathrooms – one off the master bedroom. Everyone relaxed in the lounge after dinner and we read, played cards and watched TV. The kids really liked the wireless internet access. The kitchen is well equipped and we made our breakfast and dinners, including Christmas dinner turkey, in the oven. Shopping is easy - we bought groceries at both the nearby Waitross and Summerfields. The kids especially liked the freshly made pizzas from Waitross in the refrigerated section. We had drinks in several of the nearby pubs. Transportation around London was great. We walked the block to the Old Street Tube station and took the Northern Line everywhere. Philip answered all our inquiries within 24 hours. This was one of the best family vacations we’ve had and we would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Philip & Derek!

Well what can I say ? We stayed here for a week in late September 2009 and it was a pleasure. The apartment is huge compared to a hotel room with all the mod cons you would expect, wireless internet, washer, dryer, microwave, dishwasher, lcd tv etc etc. Three of us stayed here and having two bathrooms is great. Security - 24 hour concierge service and secure building with underground car park is sensational. Location - a simple 2 minute walk to Old Street Tube will get you everywhere, plus buses out the front taking you to many of londons sites. Shopping - A tesco direct and summerfields both offering cheapish food for you to cook in the apartment. Food - too many to mention, pubs, pubs, pubs, subway, cafe nero, thai all within a 5 minute walk. Then the big marks and spencer food hall down the road. Great Apartment, Great Location, Excellent Price. Thank you Phillip and Geoffrey

This is our second stay at the Lexington. We love the comfort and convenience of "home away from home". It is very clean, spacious, updated, well-appointed and safe. One note for "warm climate folks"...the flat is not air conditioned, and while the temperature was never uncomfortable, one does have "city sounds" with the windows open.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in Januray so we could spend more time than day trips in London (We live in Cambridge, an hour away). Although seemingly outside the hip areas, it's got great subway access--and we used the buses outside all week for easy access to Oxford st, cross the river, major markerts, and Clerkenwells restaurants. Apartment itself was modern, clean, comfortable and loaded with guidebooks--no need to bring any! Grocery store around corner and a nice small daily food market a few blocks away (through the cemetary!). Several good restaurants nearby too. A great tourist base to explore London--jt

We stayed New Year's Week 2008/9 here. The flat is in an up and coming location just north of the City of London. It's not touristy at all, but the Subway (branch of the American sandwich shop) and Caffe Nero (UK's answer to Starbucks) just outside the entry gate made it easy to get a quick coffee or sandwich. There are also at least 3 Starbucks between the Moorgate station and the flat. The flat is great for 2 sets of adults or 2 older children with adults. The flat is not set up for young (under 7 and mobile) children as the art and plants are fragile. We had a 9 and 12 year old plus parents and had plenty of space. The flat is starting to show a little wear--nothing critical, and I'm sure the owner will address soon. As others have mentioned, the washer/dryer takes some work to understand. Read the manual, put the wash setting on 3 and cold or warm water temperature and the dryer setting on high, then be prepared to hang the clothes to finish drying when the cycle is done. We put the clothes in the wash before leaving for the day, took them out when we got home, hung them (there's a drying rack provided) and they were dry by morning. For groceries, there's a Marks and Spencer south of the flat near the Moorgate tube stop with a ton of prepared foods (like you'd see in the premade section of a nice grocery store in the US, plus more) and a bakery. There's also a small Summerfield grocery store to the west of the Old Street tube stop. It has more traditional grocery items like milk, orange juice, diet coke, coffee, cereal, and lunch items, plus laundry soap or other household items you might need. The view from the flat is quite expansive. We could see the reflection of the New Year's fireworks at the London Eye on the clouds and hear them from the balcony, plus see two additional sets of fireworks! The concierge staff was very helpful answering questions and working on any issues we had. The property is gated so we felt very secure. In the summer the courtyard would be a wonderful place to relax. The workout area has a few different machines and if you're not getting enough exersize by walking London then you can do more there. The coffee table in the living area has a ton of guidebooks and brochures left by previous guests -- we dropped off a few ourselves -- to give you even more ideas of what do do. Overall this was a very nice place to stay in London and we had a great time in the flat!

It was absolutely fabulous! I had the opportunity to make a last minute trip to London. I received a prompt response to my enquiry from the owner which allowed me to set up the rental on very short notice. The combination of all of the advantages of a home (kitchen with all of the amenities, comfortable furniture, etc. etc.) with all of the advantages of a hotel (24/7 concierge and well maintained security) made this the perfect choice. I had the best time, and a lot of the success of my trip was due to being able to stay here. I couldn't have made a better choice!

My wife, son (14 years), and his best friend stayed at the apartment for five days in October, 2008. We know London and wanted to stay close to or in the East End. First, the apartment was terrific. It has a 24 hour doorman, well stocked kitchen, furniture that is comfortable and homey. It is really like staying a a person's apartment as opposed to a purely rental unit. Second, the location was perfect for us and very good for anyone who wants to be in the City or near the East End. We love that part of town with Spitalfield Market, Hoxton Square, and Brick Lane. Also, the subway was just yards away. (Let me point out that this part of London is not as pretty or as developed as the West End. But for those who want a somewhat different experience, the location is very good.) Finally, dealing with Philip was a pleasure. He was responsive to our inquiries and had lots of good suggestions. All in all, a great apartment in a location we wanted, let to us by a fair and responsible person.

This flat was actually better than expected. Our stay took place last Feb 2007. Phillip provided an outstanding place to stay. My family of four which included 2 15 yr old teenage girls was extremely comfortable. With the Old Street tube station a short walk away, oyster passes in hand, we spent a week seeing all of London that we could. Each day after sightseeing, we rode the double deck bus home usualy in the first row up top. This allowed us to see London at street level. (Although the bus took 30 minutes longer than the tube, we were happy to see real streets and real neighborhoods) We would recommend the market on Old Street for your food purchases. Its very convenient and very reasonably priced. Our children were not happy with food in the UK, but my wife and I were happy to eat bangers and mash. Again, the flat was perfect and we would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I would mention that is less than perfect is the directions on how to use the washer/dryer combo machine. I guess we were too used to separate machines to figure out how to use it. We did finally figure it out , but one page of the instructions was missing. Whenever we go back to London, this is the first place we will consider to stay at!

Awesome location and apartment! We stayed for one week in Sept. 2007 with our two children, ages 7 & 9. Everything described by the owners on the website was precisely as billed. This is refreshing in an era where people over-promise and under- deliver. Be wary of other properties that don't accept comments from guests. We are always a little apprehensive since we have only pictures and descriptions to rely on before we make a decision. We definitely scored a winner with this apartment. It exceeded our expectations. It was very comfortable and well equipped. We all particularly enjoyed sitting in the livingroom in the evenings and looking out at the city.Another plus was dealing with the owner. For our two week stay in London, this apartment could not have been better. It is spacious, light, quiet, very well equiped, perfect for a family of four or two couples, and extremely well located. The tube station is on the corner, supermarkets, pharmacies, general shopping in short walking distance. Just a short cab ride (cheeper then the tube) or a leisurely stroll (all down hill) of 30 minutes one can be in the heart of central Londons attractions: London Bridge, the London Muesum, Saint Pauls, Covent Gardens, the National Gallery, the Pall Mall and Buckingham Palace -- just a few spot among many. We can definately recommend this apartments to our friends.

We loved the view and the location: the cemetery and general environs are fascinating. We would definitely stay here again. It's infinitely better than a hotel. We stayed here for a week in early April and were very pleased with our stay. The apartment was perfect for our family (2 adults/2 teens). The location was an easy walk to either Moorgate or Old Street tube station. We agree with previous tenants about the convenience of M&S just down the street - we just loved their "rocket and parmesan salad". The flat is well equipped and we found our stay very comfortable. We spent a few nights relaxing at home after a day on our feet in museums, etc and it was very comfortable. Much nicer then staying in a hotel. The owner was very helpful and easy to deal with. The location is very quiet on the weekends as it is in a mainly business area. We liked staying a bit away from the typical touristy areas. We could easily walk to St. Pauls Cathedral, Tower of London, London Bridge, Tate Modern and hop on the tube to go anywhere else. There were some good restaurants within walking distance as well. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The impressive comfort and convenience of this wonderful London apartment is not to be passed over. Enjoy the wonderful accoutrements of this new and modern place. Our family of 4 fit perfectly in the comfortable and chic space and we enjoyed a great Christmas vacation London style. Our host mailed us a great guide for getting in and out of the city that proved invaluable for the novice travelers from Kansas. We perused the big stack of guide books and maps found on the coffee table and enjoyed art galleries, theater, museums, restaurants, pubs, shopping and walking in London. About a block to the north of the apartment is the Old Street tube station, which takes one just about anywhere in the city. We had great fun navigating all around zone 1 and 2. We also enjoyed taking the short walk to the Marks and Spencer store about a quarter of a mile to the south nearly every morning for our tidy little English groceries, our coffee and of course, the cash. The building is safe and secure and the concierge was most friendly. We would be most pleased to visit again and recommend this apartment to our friends and family and viewers like you.

We were guests in this flat June 15 - 26th, 2005. The flat was perfect for us, (2 couples) it was especially nice to come home to after a hetic day of sight seeing. The flat was so quiet. It was so much nicer than a hotel would have been. The beds are comfortable, the pillows great! The showers are powerful. The two males in our group especially liked the balcony, as they could have a nightcap and a cigar. There are a couple of great places to eat that are close by and the tube of course is very close. The men at the desk were always helpful and friendly. I would recommend this flat for a great stay in London.

What a great time we had in your flat that we rented during our visit to London this past February. What a wonderful place and location. We walked down to the Tower Bridge to see Ellen MacArthur in her "solo round-the-world" trimaran. We saw all the sights you could wish to via the tube because of the flat's close proximity to the Old Street and Moorsgate stations. The grocery stores and the local restaurants offered convenient choices for meals and snacks. (We were glad 2 of the nearby pubs had children's licenses.) The southern views from the sixth floor gave a marvelous start to each morning. All in all, I'd agree wholeheartedly with all the comments on this site. We had a great time and would love to visit again in the future.

The family has returned to Canada after 2 weeks in Europe. Now that we are back I wanted to send a brief note to thank you for the opportunity to stay at you your flat on Old Street. We found it to be very comfortable well furnished. The beds in particular were very comfortable and we had marvelous sleeps during the week. We also appreciated the abundance of light from the many windows, the views from the apartment windows, and the cooling breezes from the open windows. The flat was also convenient to many amenities such as 2 Tube stations, Marks & Spencer, grocery stores, the trendy restaurants and shops in the Angel district, St. Paul's cathedral, etc. The concierge staff at the front desk was very courteous and helpful at all times during the week. We had a great visit in London and having access to your flat made the trip all the more enjoyable. Once again we enjoyed the use of your flat a great deal and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Sincerely Chris Ottawa, Canada ----- Original Message -----

Hi Philip, Just a quick note to say we really enjoyed our stay at your London flat. It was just what we needed, nicely furnished, and great location. The proximity to the Old Street and Moorgate tube stops allowed easy access to the various sights we travelled to during our stay. We enjoyed terrific weather which we exploited by taking day trips to Oxford and Windsor. In London activities thoroughly enjoyed were The British Museum, London Museum, Tower of London, Open Bus Tour, Regents park during a glorious spell of warm weather! The four of us felt very safe with the 24 hour concierge on duty. They were most pleasant and helped us work the washing machine for example. Thanks Again, and if you need us as a reference, please let me know? Regards, Pete Wolfson and family

Our family spent two weeks in this lovely flat June 20-July 4, 2003, and we were most comfortable. I thoroughly agree with all the previous comments. The furnishings and amenities are exceptional. The staff is very friendly and quite helpful. We needed to receive and send a fax of several pages and the concierge took care of it. We would recommend this flat to anyone and would love to be able to stay there again sometime.

My wife and I and two daughters stayed at this beautiful flat in June. The unit is in a very safe area and quite quiet at night and on weekends. The views are fabulous and the unit is impecably furnished. The beds, while not large, are very comfortable. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone.

We had the good fortune of renting this lovely flat for a week in March. The flat was very comfortable and spacious, and the location was superb for our family of 4 (includes two small children ages 5 and 8). We loved staying in a fairly tourist-free area of the City, yet found all the usual tourist sites easily accessible by tube. We especially liked the proximity to the Columbia Street flower market (a must if you happen to be there on a Sunday morning) and Spitalfield's, which we walked to from the flat. There are plenty of nearby restaurants and shops. The owner very thoughtfully provided recommendations and more than 10 guidebooks on restaurants, museums, and other attractions. He also left umbrellas for us to use, though we were fortunate to have a dry week. It was pleasure dealing with the owner who was prompt in his responses and is clearly very hospitable. An added bonus were the concierges who were present 24 hours a day and made us feel very welcome. This flat comes highly recommended!

This flat is a wonderful place to stay for any visitor to London. Centrally located, only a 3 minute walk from the Old City Tube Station and an easy walk to St Pauls and the City. The theatre district (West End) is only 10 minutes away by tube or bus, and all major attractions are easily accesible. The flat itself is beautifully furnished, spacious and bright, and has all the modern conveniences. Sliding doors lead out onto a private balcony with views south and west over the city. The building has many amenities including gym and 24 hour concierge. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish further information. Harvey Swedlove Toronto, Canada

What a wonderful Surprise! After travelling for 10 days in Asia, we arrived in London tied and exhausted and looking forward to settling in one spot for a week. We were met at the front desk by the most friendly and helpful staff with a welcolming smile. As soon as we opened the door to the apartment, we knew immediately that "this place" and London, were going to be the highlight of our 5 week overseas holiday. Beautifully decorated, with everything that you need in a "home away from home" we felt totally spoilt. Plenty of room, comfortable and practical furnishings, fittings and amenities. Two good size bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fantastic modern and fully equiped kitchen, washer/dryer; a balcony on which to sit and enjoy the first coffee of the day, CD player, Television, and the list just goes on. Security basement parking (if you're crazy enough to want to drive in London,is also available with the apartment. However, with two different Tube (Underground Train) stations both within a few short minutes walk from the Apartment, we found it much more convenient to get to where we wanted to go by using the Tube than to worry about a car. Central London is the only way to go to make the most of a short visit to this beautiful and exciting city, and we found the perfect place to stay. We would thoroughly recommend this central location and stunning apartment to anyone wanting to stay in London.

This is a superb apartment, very close to Old Street tube station, and consequently convenient for all principal visitor attractions in central London. And if you’re looking to be in the heart of historic London, this is definitely the place for you.The sixth floor position gives wonderful views across the financial district (you can see the infamous Millennium Dome too) and the apartment building is directly adjacent to Bunhill Fields cemetery (now full) which is serene and beautiful at any time of the year, but especially in summer. Bunhill Fields was intended to be an "outcast's" cemetery, reserved for those who refused to compromise their convictions and step in line with the established Church of England. Consequently, it became a cemetery filled with some of the most famous names that have influenced many generations since for good – John Bunyan, Daniel Defoe, and William Blake to name just a few.Directly opposite the apartment is Wesley’s Chapel, known the world over as the Cathedral of World Methodism. The site of the chapel was previously a dump used for disposing of earth during the construction of St Paul's Cathedral! And just close by, just beyond Bunhill Fields, is the Honourable Artillery Company, established during the reign of Henry VIII in 1537. Nowadays, duties of the Company include firing Royal Gun Salutes at the Tower of London on the occasions of Royal Birthdays, State visits and the State Opening of Parliament.I really can’t recommend this apartment too highly. I’ve stayed there three times now. Feel free to e-mail me if you need any more information.
