Owner Description
Our home was custom designed and handcrafted in British Columbia by Treehouse Log Homes in 2000. After the logs arrived on site it was re-erected using a crane and then all of the finishing and detail work was done by local craftsmen. The property was once part of a childrens camp from the 1940's and is mostly wooded and very private. Our goal during the construction and furnishing phase was to create a home that is rustic yet exceedingly comfortable. Based on all of the feedback and the rpeat vists from many families we think we have a great home!
Why the Owner Chose Cooperstown
Otsego Lake is 9 miles long and very much under-utilized. Having grown up on the lake, when the opportunity to purchase vacant land, we jumped at the chance because so much of the shoreline is forever protected there simply are very few parcels available.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Regardless of the season, The Treehouse provides for a Great Escape. During the winter when the snow blankets the land and the ice on the lake is 18" think, the fireplace adds to a warm and comfy environment. Summer days are spent canoeing, sailing, fishing or power boating on a lake that at times is so uncrowded it feels like your own! And in the fall, the thick wooded hillsides around the lake turn bright with color and is a great time to hike the trails.
