Handcrafted 5 Bedroom Lakefront Luxury Log Home, the Treehouse
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Cooperstown
Otsego Lake is 9 miles long and very much under-utilized. Having grown up on the lake, when the opportunity came along to purchase vacant land we jumped at the chance because so much of the shoreline is forever protected there simply are very few parcels available.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Regardless of the season, The Treehouse provides for a Great Escape. During the winter when the snow blankets the land and the ice on the lake is 18" think, the fireplace adds to a warm and comfy environment. Summer days are spent canoeing, sailing, fishing or power boating on a lake that at times is so uncrowded it feels like your own! And in the fall, the thick wooded hillsides around the lake turn bright with color and is a great time to hike the trails.
Owner's Map of Cooperstown
Our home was custom designed and handcrafted in British Columbia by Treehouse Log Homes in 2000. After the logs arrived on site it was re-erected using a crane and then all of the finishing and detail work was done by local craftsmen. The property was once part of a childrens camp from the 1940's and is mostly wooded and very private. Our goal during the construction and furnishing phase was to create a home that is rustic yet exceedingly comfortable. This is a magical location in which to celebrate life with family and friends, to experience lake front living and to enjoy the peace and solitude of a secluded, yet convenient setting.

I would highly recommend this property! This is a stunning home - with an even more stunning view of the lake. We had a family weekend away to celebrate my father's birthday. Even with the larger group of people, the house was able to easily accomodate everyone comfortably. You will have the benefit of a quiet, secluded space, but still very close to main street cooperstown, the hall of fame, the art museum, etc. Very close to the Glimmerglass state park if you want to take a hike or bike ride. The owner is extremely easy to work and helpful. We were there in the fall, and would love to go back in the summer to take advantage of the lake. All in all, a wonderful spot where great family memories were made!
Owner response:We really enjoy sharing our home and our very special spot on Otsego Lake. And we love to hear details about celebrations that take place here. Every season at The Treehouse provides for a new experience; certainly the summer months are the time to get INTO the lake. But Fall and Spring are also great times to kayak, sail or boat. And winter is the time to be ON the lake...ice fishing, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Lots of families come back again just to see the area at a different time of year. Hope to see you again.

We chose the Treehouse because we wanted Dreamspark week to be a vacation for the rest of our families while the boys played ball. And what a vacation it was!!! What a beautiful house! We shared this home with two other families and had PLENTY of room. Everyone had their own floor for privacy, and we shared the common areas. We also rented the cottage house for the grandparents. SO GLAD WE DID! They loved it and enjoyed having their own place to turn in to when they were ready. Most of our downtime at the house was spent at the lake either swimming, kayaking, fishing or just hanging out. Remember water shoes, THEY ARE A MUST because of all the sharp muscles on the rocks. Bill was the perfect host. They were expecting a hot week so he added an air conditioner to the cottage house at the last minute becuase he knew grandparents were staying there. You will not find that attention anywhere else. We also took advantage of the grill and firepit. Don't let the distance from the Dreamspark scare you away. The 15-20 minute ride is WORTH IT. We had friends staying by the Dreamspark who made the ride up to visit us and loved the lake. Wish we would have found this place two years ago when our first son plated at Dreamspark. We're out of son's now, so I guess we'll just have to plan a reunion at the Treehouse in the future.

We came to Cooperstown for the baseball and stayed here with 2 other families. This home is huge and absolutely beautiful. It's location right on the lake was perfect. Our kids had a ball fishing and kayaking and swimming all day! The owner could not have been nicer or more responsive when we called him with questions. We loved cooking on the grill and hanging out on the amazing deck. I would highly recommend this home to anyone who has the time to relax and enjoy the property.

Great place for a "Girl's Weekend". The house is very large, beautiful, and exceptionally clean. We spent the day on the large deck and kayaked to Glimmerglass State Park, and then dressed up and headed into town for an elegant dinner at Nicole's italian restaurant. We intended to spend some time at the day spa in town and have a drink on the veranda at the Otesaga but ran out of time, maybe next year.
Owner response:Our home is continuing to gain popularity as an ideal "girls weekend" destination. The Treehouse provides plenty of space to gather as a group and lots of bedrooms and quiet spaces when it's time to escape. Spend an afternoon at the spa and dinner on the town or use the chefs kitchen to prepare a wonderful meal right at home. Nice boutiques and quaint restaurants in the surrounding towns and hamlets. Come and escape to The Treehouse with your friends!

We had a great time at the Treehouse. The refrigerator gave us trouble but the owner got right on it and made it right. We brought our jetski and had a lot of fun on the lake.
Owner response:Knowing that mechanical systems break down from time to time, we maintain a network of repair companies and technicians whom we can contact for service. We strive to be as responsive as possible regardless of the issue and our staff understands the importance this represents to our guests.

We could not have been more pleased with the house, the setting on the lake, the cleanliness, and thoughtfulness of the Millers, as owners. Ours was a group of 6 adults and 6 kids visiting the Hall of Fame for a long weekend. There was plenty of space for everyone, and the proximity to town made the baseball lovers very happy. The welcome package waiting for us upon arrival was a nice touch, as well as the Thank You note when we got home. Clearly, a lot of though and care was put into our stay by the Millers. We can't wait to return!

Nothing but the best! Absolutely stunning, serene, convenient. The kids had a back to basics vacation with campfires, songs, canoes, kayaking. The house is meticulous and has every amenity. A public park/beach is nearby across the lake and easy to reach by canoe. We are trying to book again but it is all booked for this summer!!!
Owner response:We started renting out our home 6 years ago...at first for just 2 weeks per year. Now that our kids are grown and we, as a family have been using the home less during the summer months, we have developed a great reputation as an exceptional destination vacation home. Each year we generate more repeat visits from families that truly appreciate the experience of vacationing in a "real" handcrafted log home with an exceptional lakefront location, convenient to Cooperstown, yet remote enough to allow guests to really unwind. Book early!!

The "Tree House" is perfect for a family vacation - secluded but so close to all local attractions. Relaxing and tranquil. The views of the lake are spectacular and we enjoyed playing and sitting by the lake even in the early spring. We really recommend staying at this house and visiting the Cooperstown area. The owners were very helpful in arranging our vacation, especially at short notice.

We were excited to be staying in a full sized home for the week our son was playing at Cooperstown Dreams Park, but we were floored when we arrived at how spacious and beautiful it was. The owners had done so much to make us feel as though we could live in their home for a week. An iPod docking station allowed us to listen to our own music and the kitchen, BBQ and deck allowed for some great meals! The water was chilly that week, but not for the younger kids who had a blast jumping off the dock and the floating dock a few yards off shore. Great location on the lake and 15 minutes from the Dreams Park. I'm quite certain we will visit the area again and when we do, we'll arrange our dates around the availability of this FANTASTIC property!

We recently had the pleasure of spending a week in this beautiful log home. The house exceeded our expectations in every way! The views from every room were spectacular and the location on the lake was perfect. We were lucky enough to have had mostly perfect weather, and the few days when it was rainy, we relaxed indoors by the gorgeous stone fireplace. This was a family vacation with ages ranging from 50s to 2 and everyone had a wonderful time. The nights by the bonfire were great as there was plenty of wood to be found which kept the younger ones busy! We are all hoping to return again, possibly in the warmer weather, so as to enjoy swimming, boating and fishing.
Owner response:We feel a great sense of satisfaction and pleasure to hear first-hand how much fun and enjoyment our guests have had during their stay at The Treehouse. Many visitors enjoy the outdoors activities during the fall, winter and spring seasons because the area is so rich in recreational opportunities. And of course, it all just gets that much better again in the summer when the lake is warm and the fish are biting! See you soon, Bill and Liz
