The Treehouse is a unique property perfectly positioned for a Cooperstown getaway. The spacious house comfortably accomodated our group. We all enjoyed the unique furnishings. Our only mishap was not finding any flashlights, matches, lighters, etc. during an unexpected power outage. I'm sure the owner will remedy this for the next guests.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We spent a long weekend at the "Treehouse" for my Father's 60th birthday and the home met all our expectations. There was plenty of room for all of us to sleep comfortably and the view of the lake when we woke up was spectacular. Seeing this home in person was certainly just as incredible as the photos. The location was great with a quick 6 mile drive along the lake into town. We had planned on going out to dinner one night, but with the large chef's kitchen, outdoor grill, a kitchen table that could fit all 9 of us, and back deck and sitting area overlooking the lake there was no reason to leave. Bill was great to deal with and always responded in a timely manner to any questions or concerns we had. I would like to go back sometime in the summer when it is warmer to enjoy the lake. Don't miss out on this great experience as it is truly unique living in this luxury log home. We would definitely return for another stay. The only negative comment I have is that it was a little too early in the season that the dock by the lake was not yet in the water.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

I've rented and owned numerous log cabins for hunting, fishing and plain old relaxing. This place surpassed all my expectations. It is by far one of the most gorgeous ones I had the honor of staying at. Not only did it have more than enough sleeping quarters for friends and family, but being on a very productive fishing lake made it even better. Can't wait to go back!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Our group of friends have been to this home so many times, it feels like our own vacation place, a second home! The views are amazing, no matter what time of year( we go off season) the house is spacious but welcoming. We hiked at the park nearby, usuallty we tube, but not enough snow this year. Some of us toured the local brewery and wandered the quaint town. The thing about the house, is, it makes you perfectly content to just sit, read, drink a nice glass of wine and just "BE". Only suggestion I have for the owners is maybe updating some of the kitchen items, they are either low on inventory( glassware) or pretty beat up! We use the kitchen for our big group, since we love to sit at the table and eat big feasts. We plan to come back again!Owner response: Thank you so much for the feedback and for your follow-up email today with your upgrade suggestions. Liz and I spent the afternoon shopping and buying lots of new items for the kitchen. We think you will be pleasantly surprised on your next visit! See you soon!

My stay at this luxury log home was beyond what I could have ever imagined. The pictures do not do it justice. This was the most beautiful property I have ever seen. I feel so fortunate I had an opportunity to stay at this home. The home was absolutely perfect. The fireplace worked well and kept us comfortable and warm each day and night. The bedrooms were all very clean and neat. The location was perfect for us. It was about 15 minutes outside of Cooperstown. We were there during the snowstorm that managed to bring about 8 inches of snow and yet, I could not have been more happy being indoors at this log home. Bill was so helpful throughout the entire process and kept in touch with me before, during, and after my stay. If you are thinking about renting a place, this is the place to rent. I am already looking into booking time at this home in the spring and/or summer. A truly remarkable, unforgettable experience, I highly recommend renting this property. And bring your camera!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

I am writing on behalf of the 4 families that stayed in this beautiful home for five days immediately following Superstorm Sandy. Through a relative of the owner, three of my friends and I were able to send our wives and a total of 10 children up to Cooperstown from the Jersey Shore. Most of us sustained varying degrees of home damage, but we had no power and we knew it wasn't coming back anytime soon. Our families got there on 10/30 and then the three other Dads’ and I got there on 11/2 and stayed the weekend. I can't begin to tell you what it meant to us to be able to get our families out of "hell" and up to this beautiful place, while we started the cleanup and repair process on our own homes. My wife called to tell me what an unbelievable home it was, but I was not expecting the beauty and comfort that I found when I got there. There was every amenity imaginable. We never felt crowded at all and there was so much to do and see in this quaint little town. The children were always occupied whether at the house or at the local recreation center with an indoor pool, exercise equipment, rock climbing wall, racquet courts, etc, etc. We were able to cook and serve meals in the home very comfortably, as well as many dining choices locally. We will definitely come back at other times of the year and under better circumstances. Lastly, we can't thank The owner's enough for their generosity and thoughtfulness to offer their home to us in our time of need. It allowed us to "take care of business", and kept our children from being further traumatized from what was happening at home. It also provided the other Dad's and me an opportunity to blow off some steam and relax for the weekend. This place is a can't miss, and this is coming from the owner of a travel website who has stayed in countless great destinationsRecommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This is my second time staying at the Tree House in Cooperstown and I have to say that my experience both times have been nothing short of AMAZING! My first visit was with family members and everyone had a great time. The second visit was with friends. My friends had such an amazing time that right after our stay they asked for the owner’s contact information so that they can reserve the property for future stays. Whether you’re planning a trip with family members or friends you’re sure to have a great time at this property. The pictures of the property are beautiful but pictures can only capture so much. You have to stay at the property to experience what my family/friends and I have. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. As for the owners of the property, they’ve been great. They were always available to take our calls/emails from booking to even after we completed our stay. The tree house is definitely a place my family/friends and I will return to.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Bill – The weekend we spent at the “Treehouse” was wonderful beyond words. Everyone had a marvelous time. What a perfect surprise birthday weekend. 2 of the in-laws told me it felt like it was their birthday, the weekend was so special. The lodge was so secluded, that I (a local) felt like I was a million miles from home. Sitting on the sofa sipping wine and looking at autumn colors and the lake, I thought, it doesn’t get better than this. I am sure you will be having more locals calling for a vacation in paradise, right in their own back yard. All the best. We just returned from a long weekend with 3 families (6 kids, 6 adults). The Treehouse is a wonderful property.... amazing views of the gorgeous lake, a large yard before the lake, comfortable sitting areas. It's perfect for groups with kids as the kids can play or watch TV on the lower level, while the adults relax in the living room or dining area. Plenty of space for everyone. And the house itself is very unique. The owner was incredibly accommodating during our stay and responded to some minor issues very quickly. We highly recommend and will be back again next year! Thanks!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: Our home was custom designed and handcrafted in British Columbia by Treehouse Log Homes in 2000. After the logs arrived on site it was re-erected using a crane and then all of the finishing and detail work was done by local craftsmen. The property was once part of a childrens camp from the 1940's and is mostly wooded and very private. Our goal during the construction and furnishing phase was to create a home that is rustic yet exceedingly comfortable. This is a magical location in which to celebrate life with family and friends, to experience lake front living and to enjoy the peace and solitude of a secluded, yet convenient setting.
Why the Owner Chose Cooperstown:
Otsego Lake is 9 miles long and very much under-utilized. Having grown up on the lake, when the opportunity came along to purchase vacant land we jumped at the chance because so much of the shoreline is forever protected there simply are very few parcels available.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Regardless of the season, The Treehouse provides for a Great Escape. During the winter when the snow blankets the land and the ice on the lake is 18' think, the fireplace adds to a warm and comfy environment. Summer days are spent canoeing, sailing, fishing or power boating on a lake that at times is so uncrowded it feels like your own! And in the fall, the thickly wooded hillsides surrounding the lake turn bright with color and is a great time to hike the trails.
