The cabin was clean and well-stocked with essentials. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was clean and relaxing, and the view was beautiful. My friends enjoyed exploring Mentone one afternoon. I never could figure out the Buck stove, but we did light the outdoor fireplace. We had a relaxing, comfortable stay. A few things to note: If you are traveling with small children (like toddlers), you might not want to visit in the winter. The heat is provided by wall heaters that get hot to the touch and are at just the right level for a beginning toddler to want to grab. Obviously, this wouldn't be an issue in the summer. Older children who can understand to be careful around the heaters should be fine. Second, if you are traveling as a group of couples, the master bedroom (with an awesome tub) has little privacy from the deck. I didn't see any blinds or shutters to keep that room private if company (including children) are present. For our girls' weekend, it was a non-issue. The cabin is PERFECT for a girls' weekend, a romantic couple get-away, or a not-so-romantic, but still fun, family trip. I can't stress again how clean, well-stocked, and comfortable this cabin is. IThe owners were helpful and responsive. I would recommend this cabin to friends. If you go, you won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I went to the cabin with a group of girlfriends for a weekend getaway. We had a fabulous time despite some things that were not as described. Things that were great: •Patio furnishing were very nice •Kitchen was well stocked with modern amenities •Master bedroom was updated •The view was spectacular Things that were wrong: •Massive amount of dust - to the point that cobwebs were leaving shadows on the wall. •Hot tub worked for maybe 20 minutes. Digital display kept flashing. Called the local house keeper who came out to get it working (worked for 20 minutes after she left). Said they have had problems with it recently. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! •Pilot light on fire pit was not working. Spent an hour trying to figure out how to make it work - NO MANUALS for fire pit or hot tub are at the cabin. •Grill was not as described - supposed to have an igniter. It was not working. • Lizard was found in upper bedrooms and had to be captured. With corrections to the obvious issues, it could be a spectacular cabin. As it is now, I would not return nor recommend it to anyone else.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The open layout makes for a wonderful setting to visit with friends both indoors and on a wonderful deck overlooking a great valley view. We enjoyed our stay, walks on the road and great meals on the deck. Sleeping was very comfortable with cool breezes. The decor was interesting and made us marvel at the unique hats, chairs, sculptures scattered throughout the house. We would definitely return. The travel from Atlanta was very doable for a weekend visit.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway.

My husband , myself and our border collie Snoopy rented Ridgetop for a week. It was our best vacation experience. Ridgetop is a well appointed home complete with a top of the line hot tub. We had every amenity plus it is located on a very private wooded drive with fabulous mountain views. We definitely recommend Ridgetop to anyone seeking a relaxing mountain vacation. It was beautiful and peaceful plus loved the crisp mountain air.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway.

WOW, just like the pictures and more!!!! Stayed at the cabin a full week and didn't want to leave. My husband and I, my mother and sister, 2 grown daughters and my 2 year old all stayed in this wonderfully maintained homey cabin. Had evey thing we needed for the kitchen and the washer/dryer were indespencable. Plenty of private roads for long walks and we really enjoyed the firepit in the evenings. Cloudland State Park was just a short drive away, about 25 min, and the waterfalls there are wonderfull.Thank you so much for sharing this great experience with us, we are looking to go back in the fall for some color!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children.

Took us a while to post this review - sorry! My husband surprised me with a weekend at this cabin for our anniversary, and wow did he know how to pick a cabin! We were in awe as we walked in the front door to see through the living area to the fantastic view from the back deck. The owners thought of EVERYTHING, and really know how to make a place cozy. Sitting in the hot tub in the evening with a nice glass of wine listening to the owls in the trees, curling up with a book next to the woodstove in the living area - this cabin is definitely on our must go back list! Thanks so much for sharing this gem with us ladies!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I, daughter and fiance, and 2 other couples had an amazing stay this past long weekend at Ridgetop! Talk about scenery, comfort and luxury all in one. I was amazed that the house and everything advertised about the rental was even better than anticipated. Very much privacy, felt like we were the only ones on the mountain. There was plenty of room for all of us without running into eachother around the house......the kitchen was very large and wonderfully stocked with everything you would need to create even a large holiday meal! It was very serene, the view from the hot tub on the deck was indescribable and we cannot wait to go back!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

Year Purchased: 1987
About the owner: Along with Julie Ellis, Pamela Evans owns this wonderful home on the top of Lookout Mountain. Many years ago, Pamela starting visiting the area when a friend of hers ran a girls camp in nearby Mentone. She fell in love with the mountain, the cool air, the views, the privacy and decided to purchase a home on the brow in an area called Eagles' Roost by the locals. One of her favorite singers from the 1970s was Jessie Colin Young who sang about his own mountaintop home called Ridgetop -- that's how this special place got its name. Pamela spent years furnishing Ridgetop with antiques and charming artwork. She rebuilt the deck to make it huge enough to accommodate a large hot tub and full living area with outdoor dining. And most recently she updated the kitchen with all new appliances. Ridgetop is a one of a kind experience and Pamela loves being able to share her special home with you.
Why the Owner Chose Lookout Mountain:
Unlike other more populated mountain areas in GA, Cloudland, GA, where Ridgetop is located, is private with little to no tourism to interfere with one's enjoyment of mountain living. And yet there is easy access to nearby TN and AL, plus several restaurants, a hang glding school, antiques, and grocery. And yet many of Pamela's guests once at Ridgetop refuse to go away from that spectacular view and stay put, cooking, playing games, watching one of the movies from the video library, and enjoying family and friends. You won't want to leave and you will want to return year after year. She is sure of it!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Enjoy the view, the oversized hot tub, the new Jennaire grill, barbecuing outside, the buckstove that heats the entire house, the walk down the quaint dirt road in front of the house. Select from over 100 movies. Sit at the outdoor bar that makes you feel as if you are soaring over Shinbone Valley below. You cannot help but feel at peace and relaxed while visiting Ridgetop.
