If you want to sit in a rocking chair, or surf, and watch the waves roll in with your family and friends then this is the place for you. This is an unpretentious beach cottage built for families who want to hang out at the beach. Charleston design maven, Angie Hranowsky just updated the living areas, kitchen and dining area.
My house has everything you need to dine in with a large crew. Six bedrooms and four baths. Two living areas, three tv's. Five queen beds, two twins. Linen service can be arranged. Wireless internet. Screened porch and deck overlook the ocean on a sandy beach. Restaurants are within walking distance. The decor is happy, laid back, and fun like Folly Beach.

We just returned from an amazing week in Folly Beach. The day that we arrived at the house was very windy--when we walked up the stairs to open the front door we looked through the windows of the house and it was if the ocean was right outside the living room! Awesome. The location is ideal--far enough away from town to be peaceful and quiet, and close enough to walk to dinner. The house was as advertised--plenty of room for the ten of us to spread out and have our own space(s), yet also ample space for being together. The enclosed porch is great, and the deck is oceanfront with lots of comfortable chairs for lounging. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. Any questions we had were promptly answered by Polly or the realty company. A couple of things that need repair/updating: the microwave sounds as if it's about to go, the top shelf in the dishwasher doesn't pull out, the fan in the south bathroom on the first floor makes a strange noise, and we couldn't find a dustpan, or guest book. All really small things--did not at all mar our amazing week. We are already planning another trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This was a great place to stay. Listing description was accurate and we found the house just as presented in the photo section. Very Clean and Well maintained. This weekend was to celebrate our engagement and housed all five couples with plenty of room. It is right on the beach and just a stone skip away from the house!! The kitchen was great and came with all the equipment to cook our own meals all weekend!! Perfect place to stay if you are looking to get away from the normally crowded beaches on Folly, but only a 15-20 min walk from the pier and "down town" Folly area with all the restaurants. Paulette was great!! I would recommend this home to any Folly beach go-er. We had an amazing weekend and the home was at the center of it all!! Thanks!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My entire family, (11 members), spent a wonderful week at Polly's Folly over Christmas week 2012. Even when we and area family members were all in the house it never felt crowded due to the remarkable floor design. Everything was exactly as described and with four bathrooms there was never any waiting for showers. The beachfront was the highlight of the week for most of the "Yankees" and the home's location was perfect. On several occasions dolphins swam right up to the beach. I would highly recommend staying there and plan to do so at a future date.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

Our family stayed here right after Christmas. 2 teen boys, 2 younger kids (12 & 7), 2 sets of parents and 2 grandparents. There was plenty of room for all of us and everyone was very happy here. Great gathering places & also plenty of spots for privacy when wanted. Bathroom layout was very nice too! The loft is much bigger then we were expecting and it was a favorite spot with all the kids. The porch was inviting and a favorite spot with everyone over the vacation! Great location - walking distance to the pier one way and the river the other way. We've stayed at many folly beach houses over several years and they all have + and -. This was one of our favorites!!! Not all the beds appeared to be queens but no one complained. We had trouble with the dishwasher (door wouldn't go all the way down due to fridge being in the way & wouldn't finish whole cycle without pressure on the door to stay shut). But, like I said, all houses have their own quirks. It's a GREAT house, very welcoming.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks to your input, we have renovated our house. A counter depth refrigerator was installed to eliminate the problem with the dishwasher door. Please keep an eye out for photos this week. We painted everything and replaced the living area furniture, changed the cabinets in the kitchen, added new countertops, changed the sliding shower doors to a glass panel, designed new custom built in cushions and pillows for the built in daybeds in the loft! Polly's Folly has a fresh, new look! Check it out! The house will be done soon, and photos will be posted by November 17th! Best, Polly

Our family rented "Polly's Folly," as my 92-year-old Dad wanted to visit the ocean once more. If you're looking for a comfortable, roomy home right on the beach, we wholeheartedly recommend planning a stay at this home. We had 9 adults (ages 35-92), and 2 children (ages 4 & infant) in our group; the house sleeps 12. The kitchen's roomy and well-equipped. We opted for the linens so we didn't have to bring our own - there were plenty of pillows. Both the screened-in porch and deck off the back of the house are comfortable and afford GREAT ocean views - the ocean's just a short walk down the steps from the home. This is a wonderful home in which to relax, just hang out and enjoy your family - or friends. We would definitely go back if we get the chance!! Recommended are: visits to the Morris Island lighthouse, aquarium in Charleston, Irvin House Vineyard on Wadmalaw Island (a most unique vineyard), and a plantation (previously visited Boone Hall). One son loved kayaking beyond the marina off Folly Beach Road. Both the Folly Beach Shrimp Company and Rita's have great food, outside patios and are recommended.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
We love the relaxed nature of Folly. Basically, we love the beach and really wanted a home on the water. The hassle of finding a parking space and dragging beach gear back and forth is eliminated when you can walk out the door and be on the sand with the convenience of an outdoor shower whenever you want.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We ride bikes on the beach, have bonfires at night (with a permit), grill on the deck, fish, go crabbing, surf, spend time with friends and family. Oyster roasts are great under the house. The Surf Bar and Taco Boy are great restaurants and very close. Woody's delivers delicious wood fired pizza and Dolphin deli delivers great sandwiches. There is a small grocery on the island called Bert's where you can find pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream,etc.
Charleston is only 17 minutes away so it is very convenient to go to the city for a completely different experience.
