Poggio Secco is a scenic olive and chestnut farm located in the mountains overlooking the Mugello Valley. It is 30 minutes drive from Florence and has easy access to the Chianti Region. There is possibly no more relaxing place to be. There are miles of hiking trails, lots of sun in the summer, and easy access to skiing less than two hours drive in the winter. The rental is a converted stone barn boasting many original Tuscan features as well as all the mod cons.

Tuscan charm Poggio Secco offers a true glimpse of the rural Tuscan life. Aside from easy access to all the major tourist locations in Florence and the Chianti Region, there are fabulous local restaurants offering local Mugellese cuisine. Hiking and mountain biking are popular in the area, as is viewing the Ferrari F1 team at Autodromo Mugello (10km away) their official test track and home of the Italian MotoGP in June and July.

Winter and Summer fun Poggio Secco enjoys cool mountain breezes in the normally warm Summer, and easy access to skiing at Abbetone in the Winter. The local town of Vicchio has a wonderful pool and recreation area at the bottom of the mountain to help cool you down when the mercury rises. Snuggle in for a lovely evening by the fire and enjoy a nice evening in with a fine local Chianti. Forget about time.

Fantastic base for exploring:
* Florence is 30 minutes drive, Bologna is an hour, Lucca is 1.5 hours, Sienna two hours, and Rome is just under three hours away.
* Poggio Secco is at the northern tip of the Chianti Region and well in striking distance of the Bolgheri if a super Tuscan is more to your liking. The entire area is dotted with fantastic local restaurants.
* You are about two hours from either coast with relaxing beach towns to the west and party towns to the east.
* If motorsport gets you excited, you are in the middle of three of Italy's finest race tracks: Mugello, Imola, and Misano.

Golf Information:
* Poggio secco is only 15 minutes drive from the Golf Club Poggio dei Medici. It was constructed to USGA standards, and opened in 1995. It is recognized as the best course in Tuscany and among the finest in Italy. It is the home of the LPGA Italian Open. It is an 18 hole, par 73 International Championship Course, 6367 meters long, 5091 meters for ladies tees, 6519 meters or 7139 yards from championship tees. Driving range with putting and pitching green and shaded driving bays, extensive practice area. Open year-round, seven days per week. Golf lessons with PGA Academy Pros are available. Skiing Information:
* Poggio Secco has a fabulous view of Abbetone, the nearest big ski resort. It's about 1.5 hours drive and offers fantastic snow without the Alpine crowds. Not far from Abetone is Monte Amiata, if skiing a Volcano seems more exciting. And only 15 minutes drive from Poggio Secco there is a small three-run beginner resort if you want to learn out of site of the masses.
