This unique back country cabin has a surprisingly updated interior that makes for a very warm and comfortable home to relax in after a day in the back country. We have all the modern conveniences such as a large flat screen TV/DVD player, modern appliances, laundry, new wood stove large bathtub and comfortable beds.
Donner Frog Creek Lodge is located one half mile off Donner Pass Rd. and one mile from Donner Lake. We are situated at the end of a large wildflower filled meadow with Frog creek meandering through it. View wildlife from the deck. Take beautiful hikes right from the back deck, checkout nearby swimming holes and lakes. Small waterfalls crash through narrow canyons. Its close proximity to the Pacific Crest Trail makes it a great for place to stop for a few nights and have a relaxing rest in a comfortable bed and a hot shower/tub. There are shorter trails around the meadow that is great for taking in the scenery. We are surrounded by hundreds of acres of mountain views and forest land that are prime for snowshoeing, ski decents, crosscountry skiing, in the winter. The summer offers rock climbing, hiking, wildflower and amazing views. There are also great swimming holes.
Food, backcountry guide services, or shuttle drivers can also be arranged if desired. We have some snowshoes for rent. Please inquire about other optional services we may provide. We are happy to stock the cabin with whatever you desire, prior to your stay. We attempt to groom the trail with our snow-cat in the winter. During large storms this is not always possible but there will always be a good trail.
