Sunset Lodge, our 'Mountain Home' is a beautiful custom built 5000 square foot private house with three levels and vaulted ceilings. The house is located near the top of the ridge on Solamere Drive in the Lower Deer Valley area. One of the few houses in the Solamere area with unobstructed, spectacular sunset views. You will end your day of skiing, snowboarding, hiking, or mountain biking enjoying the fantastic sunset view from the balcony deck off of the timbered Great Room. Then relax in the large hot tub on the extended outside deck overlooking the Park City Valley.
Our NON-SMOKING, NO PET home is perfect for a large extended family or just as good for one, two or three couples with or without children who want the privacy of their own house. You are a little over one mile from the main Snow Park Lodge at Deer Valley and two miles from Historic Park City's Old Town Main Street with many great restaurants and interesting shopping. Fly into the Salt Lake City International Airport, pick-up your rental car, and you can be at Sunset Lodge in 45 minutes unless you stop to make purchases on your way through Park City.
Concierge Services are available, if desired, to prestock the kitchen and house, make advanced reservations, or decorate the house for special occasions and holidays.
Sunset Lodge is located on a quiet drive with little traffic in an exclusive area of Lower Deer Valley. There are no houses behind or in front of our home. The houses on each side enjoy the same private feeling and views. The driveway from the street to the house is heated. There will not be a snow plow on the driveway at 6:30 in the morning and there will not be accumulated snow or ice on the driveway after a 'white-out' day of skiing.
The Deer Valley Ski Resort offers complimentary ski storage at Snow Park Lodge so there is no need to carry your skis to the car at the end of the day - unless you plan to ski one of the other great Utah resorts within easy driving distance. The Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Ski Resort are minutes away. Solitude and Brighton are located in Big Cottonwood Canyon; Alta and Snowbird are in Little Cottonwood Canyon, both are an hours drive away. We have an efficient forced air dryer for six pairs of boots AND six pairs of gloves in the ground floor entry area so wet boots and gloves will never be an issue when you spend your skiing/snowboarding vacation at Sunset Lodge.
The entire house has a beautiful, spacious open floor plan with comfortable furnishings. On the main level enjoy the Great Room with vaulted ceilings encompassing the all granite gourmet kitchen, large dining area, wet bar, 46 inch HDTV, wood burning fireplace with a telescope to enjoy the 'down valley' view overlooking Park City. The separate Entertainment Room includes a 61 inch High Definition television with HD cable box including DVR, 80Gb PlayStation 3 with 2 wireless Dual Shock controllers, game table, rear deck and great views. The PS3 is a Blu-ray DVD and regular DVD player with Sony Blu-ray remote. The second master bedroom is located on the main level with gas fireplace, HDTV, and DVD player.
The upper level has a sitting area for quiet reading and a master bedroom. The master bedroom has a gas fireplace, HDTV, DVD player and seating area. Both master bathrooms have large jetted tubs and stall showers.
The lower level has the queen bedroom and the bunk room. Both of these bedrooms have flat screen TVs and DVD players. The bunk room has a compact stereo system.
All four bedrooms have en suite bathrooms with double sinks and there is a powder room adjacent to the Great Room on the main level.
The lower level has another living space with a gas fireplace, a regulation pool table, and an office area with a computer for your use, including a printer, copier, and scanner. If you must work while on vacation this will make it easier. Hard wired or passphrase security protected wireless N broadband internet is included.
One of our property manager will greet you. We ask that you call from the airport so they can be prepared for your arrival. They will already have freshened the house, arranged for any special needs you have requested, turned up the radiant floor heating and adjusted the temperature in the hot tub in anticipation of your stay. They will show you how everything works, give you the keys and garage door openers, and then leave you to enjoy your vacation. They are Park City locals and are always available to assist with any questions or problems that could arise during your stay at Sunset Lodge. You will not be stranded by distant management. Then contact the property managers on your departure day and they will meet you at the house to see you off and lock-up. They will perform a thorough inspection of the property and arrange for the housekeeper. They report any damage, breakage or smoking to us.
Mid-week housekeeping or daily maid services are available for an additional fee.

Cancellations: If more than 60 days before arrival date, full refund less $250.00 fee; less than 60 days before arrival date, renter will receive no refund unless the house can be re-rented, less a $250.00 fee.

The house is gorgeous! Well maintained, and also well stocked. Fantastic views, great furnishings. We had folks ages 5-70 and everyone loved the house. THe bunk room is huge and the beds are great. THe two masters were spacious and luxurious. We used the hot tub every day and loved sitting on the deck. THe property manager is friendly and efficient. Location is great, literally a two minute drive to snow park base, five minutes into town. We will rent this house again for sure!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We have been to Park City many times but always stayed in hotels. We decided to try a VRBO house rental to give us a bit more space and comfort with two little kids and invite some grandparents. After a lot of research, we decided to book Sunset Lodge. I couldn't adequately describe really how special of a place Sunset Lodge is. First, the property owners Steve and Kathy will help you with anything. They are responsive and generally just great people with practical and helpful advice. The property manager Ron was equally as wonderful. We didn't have any reason to call as there were no issues during our stay -- but our time with him during check in and check out was very helpful. On to the property. My husband lived in Deer Valley for 18 years so I wasn't sure what he would think. As soon as we opened the door, I knew we picked the perfect place. Sunset Lodge is such a unique property -- located less than 5 minutes from main street and less than three minutes from deer valley ski resort but tucked away enough in the mountains that you have privacy and that mountain vacation with view that you imagine. The views are spectacular, the house exactly as you would imagine a ski lodge with its decor and it is perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need. We skied and spent most of our time relaxing at the house. There was little reason to leave. The property is well suited for little children but is also a house that could grow with children of all ages (has a pool table on the bottom floor) as it has great space and a great layout. We left Sunset Lodge and re-reserved our next year trip within about 4 days of returning home. Our kids keep asking when we are going back to our Utah vacation. We highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed. Wonderful owners who really care about you having a great vacation and a house that really just can't disappoint any in one of the most beautiful places in the country.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had an amazing time at the Sunset Lodge in December. We consider ourselves aficionados of VRBO homes because we use them for all ski trips (we are a large family with many kids and hotels don't work for us). This is, by far, the best VRBO house we've ever had the pleasure of renting. The house is absolutely stunning inside and out. There is beautiful stonework and woodwork -- along with spectacular views -- in nearly every room (and in the outdoor jacuzzi). You can't beat it for convenience either. The snow park lodge at Deer Valley is literally two turns and two minutes from the house. Park City skiing and amenities are five minutes away. The kitchen and open floor plan make it great for family gatherings. The house also is packed with great cooking equipment (grills/wafflemakers), utensils, etc. Add in the boot heater and heated driveway, and you have literally the ideal ski house. The owners are helpful and accommodating as is the property caretaker. We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Just returned from the Sunset Lodge a few days ago and wish I were still there. My family and I had a wonderful time. The home is just beautiful and in a wonderful location, about a mile from Main St in Park City and 3 minutes from the base of Deer Valley. The photos and descriptions are spot on and you will want for nothing. If you need a beautifully furnished home that is convienient to the three ski areas, restaurants, shopping, etc. etc., look no further. You will not be disapointed. My family and I had a great time and will stay nowhere else. Thank you Steve and Kathy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Where to begin? If you want luxury, convenience, and top-notch service, you can't beat Sunset Lodge in the Solamere neighborhood. We stayed here with 2 families: 4 adults and 4 kids. The home has the perfect setup for multiple families. The bunk room is fantastic for the kids. The master suites are wonderfully furnished, large and yet so cozy (with fireplaces in each). The kitchen is well-equipped and the owners have labelled everything so you know where everything is! They've got all the stuff you need to cook and relax and make drinks. It's great! There are multiples HDTVS throughout the house so everyone can watch what they want. The location is the best: Solamere Drive is about a 3 minute drive to the base of Deer Valley Resort and only a 5 minute drive to Main Street with all the restaurants and shops. Property is in immaculate condition. Owners are extremely helpful and responsive during the entire process. I will definitely be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

House was perfect. We have rented 8-10 nice homes through VRBO and Sunset Lodge was the best house and rental experience. Kathy and Steve's home is perfectly set up for a couple families, everthing "works" and it feels like home from the first hour onward. Furniture and beds are incredibly comfortable, access to deer valley is seamless, and owners are on top if their game. A luxurious base for a Park City vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

WOW! Having come home now after spending a week in this fantastic home, I'm still saying to myself, WOW! The amenities are too many to list - beautiful chef's kitchen, fireplaces everywhere, amazing bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs, stunning slate floors warmed with radiant heat, flat screen TVs in every room, inviting hot tub to soak away sore muscles after a day of mountain biking, a view that belongs in an oil painting, large pool table, quiet and secluded setting, very close to town and all the amazing gourmet restaurants, I could literally keep going and going. The only aspect potentially better than the amenities was the experience we had with the owners - extremely thoughtful and accomodating in every respect, wanting to make sure we had the best vacation possible, right down to letting us even use their Trek mountain bikes. As a busy business executive, I travel extensively and normally would not take the time to write a review, but this home and the owners are more than worthy of the time. Without question, we will stay here again the next time we return to Park City.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Wow! What a great trip we had, and this was the perfect house for us! We were 8 women converging on Park City for the Sundance Film Festival. This is our annual 'get away from it all' trip, and we always hope to ski and to see fabulous movies, but mostly want to catch up and spend time with one another. The house was big enough so that we all had plenty of space. The kitchen was perfect for multiple cooks in the kitchen, the beds were very comfortable, checking in and out was simple, and the view was amazing! We can't wait to return!Owner response: Andrea and her female friends were great guests. We liked them because they respected our home and our furnishings. About the owner: We grew up in Southern California and were fortunate to enjoy both mountain and oceanside activities. We live and work in the Miami, Florida area. We both love sunsets. Our goal was to be able to retire with a mountain home and a oceanside home. 'Sunset Lodge' is our Deer Valley mountain house with a spectacular sunset view 'down valley' overlooking Park City. We also have a Florida Keys house, 'Sunset Reef,' with an equally fantastic sunset view. We are blessed in life with great family and good friends. The photo is from the Park City Jazz Festival; a wonderful event that we supported.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Solamere:
Deer Valley is a great location for a winter 'ski' house and a summer 'hiking/biking' house. You cannot beat the convenience of flying into Salt Lake City International airport and being at our house in under an hour. Deer Valley Ski Resort is one mile away and there are a number of fabulous ski resorts within easy driving distance. The summer hiking and biking is unmatched in our opinion.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We fell in love with the fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and the Park City valley. Enjoying the fabulous deck to look 'down valley' over Park City is wonderful, especially at sunset. We enjoy music and have a nice stereo system with speakers in a number of the rooms and on the decks. There are many ways to relax in our mountain home.
