Brookside Cottage is a delightful bungalow for two. It offers a full kitchen, Jacuzzi tub, and lovely patio. Situated in town, next to the stream that runs through historic Berkeley Springs, the water in the cottage is the same healing water found at the spa down the street. There is a charming private patio with fountain overlooking the stream. You are within walking distance of all of the town’s attractions, with the benefit of your own romantic get away. The cottage also has a loft that is filled with light and overlooks the lovely brook.
The list of top art destinations in America released recently by American Style magazine places Berkeley Springs at #7 among small cities and towns. Begin with the Ice House Gallery, just minutes from the cottage, that showcases a variety of artists both from the region and beyond. Continue your stroll around town to the many artist’s shops, galleries and studios in and around Berkeley Springs. You will also find several full service spas, the state park with swimming pool, two antique malls, a variety of restaurants: coffee houses, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, pizza, All-American and fine dining at Tari’s, or upscale Lot 12. There are frequent concerts at the park or local venues, and entertainment at some restaurants and shops. There is a Farmers Market on Sundays and Thursdays though October. The Movie Theater in town shows first run films on weekends.
Drive to the Berkeley Springs Panorama Overlook which is rated by National Geographic as one of the five best overlooks in the Eastern United States and also boasts a lovely restaurant. There you can see the panoramic scenic view of three states and two rivers and if you time it right a beautiful sunset.
Close by Cacapon State Park has a swimming lake with beach and concession stand, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed golf course, fishing, tennis, row & paddle boats and horseback riding. Other favorite activities are canoeing and kayaking on the nearby Great Cacapon and Potomac Rivers ; biking and hiking on the C&O Canal; swimming lake and town pool open Memorial Day-Labor Day, and a Fitness Center with an Indoor Pool and a Curves.
