What else can I say but FANTASTIC! Six of us rented the house for an entire month. Rodger was there right from the beginning, answering all questions via email before arrival and was there on the dock waiting for us when we arrived via Vernon Fine's Catamaran. The house was at a perfect location for breezes everyday and was just the right distance from town for a good walk each day as we wandered in. As the month was very windy, we didn't snorkle as much in the cove as we wanted to due to waves but Rodger and his wife Loretta pointed out other places on the island that we just as good. The pedicabs were very good and shouldn't cost you more than 30 limpura (about $1.50 US)per person to go into town or back. We used Andrew alot for our rides. As far as restaurants are concerned - BEST PIZZA - Skidrow, BEST WINGS - Rehab, BEST GRILLED FISH DINNERS - RJ's, BEST COFFEE - Rio Coco Coffee, BEST VIEW OF THE HARBOUR - the Mexican restaurant. BEST GROCERY SHOPPING - Bush's - no need to go anywhere else as they will deliver to the house. Thank you Rodger for the deep sea fishing ... I caught the tuna on film and we have tales about the big one that got away. The trip to Cayos Conchinos was nothing less than spectacular - right out of National Geographics. The house is perfect for three couples. Rodger can arrange for a weekly housekeeping service to do floors, linens, and windows. Blanca did a great job for us. The house was airy and any problems were dealt with immediately by Rodger.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

If you're looking for a fabulous place to unwind, then look no further than Utila and Las Brisas! My hubby and I rented this get-away for a month (mid November to mid December) so we could chill out after working in Antarctica. The house was exactly as shown in the photos and as described in the listing; it's a fantastic rental with plenty of room and special features - the kitchen was perfect for cooking meals, which we did a lot of. We spent so much time outside on the back porch enjoying the lovely view of Paradise Cove, the incredible night skies and cool breezes. Rodger and Loretta were SUPERB hosts; both were very friendly and laid back! All you need to do is ask about anything and they will have the answer; they'll care of any requests. Rodger answered my many questions (even before we arrived) about the island, options for getting to Utila, fishing, snorkeling & diving, locals' hangouts, restaurants & bars, etc. Be sure to go check out their vet clinic too; they are hard-working, extremely giving folks! Oh, on the day we were leaving Utila the weather was quite dicey - Rodger took us to the local airport and stayed the entire time until we were on the plane - that's taking care of his tenants and going "above & beyond" in our book; he was always eager to assist us and it was really appreciated! Paradise Cove is right out the back door and has fantastic snorkeling! Walking into the middle of town only takes about 1/2 hr & you can call Alejandro (our steadfast taxi dude) for a ride home. Lots of great places to eat and the locals are so friendly too. If you're looking for a great place that's oh so quiet, away from town (but close enough when you need it) that's managed by an awesome couple (with 2 swell dogs), look no further than Las Brisas & Rodger and Loretta - you won't be disappointed! We plan on going back to Utila next Fall because of all the hospitality we were shown (and those killer lobsters Rodger scored for us) Thanks for making our vacation such a memorable one!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I must say that I agree completely with all the reviews made from the previous guest And I Quote”:”Best decision ever! Spotlessly clean, amazing kitchen! This place is perfect for a couple, a group, or a family. Wonderful experience! This is a most relaxing and beautiful vacation home. The house is extraordinary and the view out the back door is spectacular, windows open at night and sleeping with the breeze and the sound of the ocean. There is a ton of other rooms/space for people to sleep. The sunrise was beautiful every morning.” But the best part was to meet Rodger wow! That’s a Host!, He was waiting for us at the Dock Unloaded transported my small sailboat from the freight boat! Arranged transportation for my family and luggage! What can I said he was there for us 24 hrs he assisted with everything ! He even hooked us up with the friendly and reliable Alejandro Taxi driver, we used him for everything, Food delivery, Supermarket and any shopping delivered to the hose !Once there he hauled the sailboat to a beutiful bach across town and came back for it! Made arrengments for our departure in a private plane ,with captain Angelo Thums up!After we left Rodger shipped my boat back to me “twice” L.0.L(miss the unloading spo the took it back to utila and so on ) Rodger thank you very much you made sure that we felt treated like Royalty The House is Great Utila is spectacular But Rodger you certainly make the difference! Thanks for the hospitality Rodger! My wife and I rented las Brisas along with her brother, his wife and 3 kids (7 total). We had a great 2 weeks together, diving 11 of the days. The house is a bit of a ways from town (about a mile from the start of town and 1.5 miles to our dive shop) to make it to the dive shop by 7 AM, so the scooter was very handy. We also made good use of the Tuck-Tucks (Honduran Rickshaw). The master-bedroom had a great ocean view. The other bedroom did not have an ocean view, but was more private and had it's own TV. The kids room had 2 single beds, so Rodger supplied us with a blow-up mattress which we put in the living room. This arrangement worked out fine. While there, 3 took their open-water certification, 3 their advanced open water and 1 nitrox. We were especially happy with Angie who is the dive instructor that Rodger arranged for us. She worked with us through the Advanced classes as well as our dive master for the other dives. One thing that you should know about the dive culture of Utila is that the operators are very hands-on. You cannot dive your own profile without an instructor or dive-master. Angie was very good about knowing what we wanted with our dives and making sure we got it. 5 of the 7 also took Spanish classes while in Utila. We thought that the time and money ($60 for 10 hours of instruction per person) was very well spent with Sole. Rodger can hook you up with her as well. We had a great 2 weeks in Utila at Las Brisas and would very much like to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

A truly fantastic place, our stay at Las Brisas was the perfect backdrop to a wonderful week in Utila. The house was clean, comfortable and more than adequate for two couples. Whether on the porch, cooking a meal or just soaking in the view of Paradise Cove, this villa will not disappoint. Rodger's hospitality was extremely appreciated. He took care of lining up golf cart rentals, boats, etc. It makes it much easier to enjoy your time in a new place when you have a reliable source of information. The villa is in a great location, a relatively easy drive to the beach (not withstanding the one in the back yard(!), as well as into town). Its location also offers all the privacy you will need, as we never were disturbed by another person. Utila is a wonderful destination for those seeking a true Caribbean getaway. A fantastic Caribbean Experience, all made better by staying at Las Brisas! Our Personal Recommendations (when not at Las Brisas): Beaches: Bando, Water Caye (worth the boat ride) Restaurants: RJ's (best fish on the island), Purple Pelican (great owner, great food and the best atmosphere), Driftwood Cafe (great owner, great food...and monkey balls!), Munchies (best breakfast) Mango Inn (best pizza!). Rental Transportation: Not 100% necessary, but would HIGHLY recommend golf cart, etc. for multiple people. Must do: Water Caye, Pigeon Caye for lunch...get out to Purple Pelican if you can! Fish (great for Bonefishing and Permit...Tarpon in the lagoons, not too mention Marlin, Tuna & Wahoo offshore!) Oh, and there is fantastic diving...so we hear! Thanks Rodger and Loretta for sharing!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you Rodger! What a great house and Rodger was a great resource to help make it a perfect trip. Our group of 6 adults loved the house, the location and the host. I can't say enough about how helpful Rodger was. He is available 24 hours a day to help make your stay perfect. Would recommend Angie at Utila Dive Lodge as a great Dive master as well. The sunrise was beautiful every morning. Quick bike or scooter ride to town. We will be back next year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We couldn’t have been more pleased with the house, its location, and Roger’s terrific hospitality! The house has a beautiful view of a small bay and palapa with lounge chairs (not on photos but really nice and was used daily). The house is open with nice cross-ventilation (which helps keep the notorious sand-flies at bay), and a very user-friendly and welcoming kitchen and living area. The separated bedroom, master bedroom, and porches on front and back are ideal. The on-site scooter was very convenient as one of us had a knee injury (and couldn’t bicycle); but 5 of us 6 rented bikes for trips to and from town—which we recommend, especially as it helps keep the island ‘mellow’ in light of the increasing traffic on ‘main street’. It’s easy enough to travel light; the main grocery store (and Roger himself) will gladly deliver large loads with their golf carts. Speaking of Roger — we can’t say enough nice things: he’s welcoming, funny, helpful and a wealth of information about the island. We were a group of 6 adults who, combined, have been to Utila and Roaton a nice handful of times over the last 15 years. We would (and likely will!) rent Roger’s home again in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This was the second house we stayed at in Jan 2011. Sunrise in the morning was a glow of red, orange, yellow hues rising over the blue waters. Watching the waves and sailboats off the back decks, snorkel in the cove (when water is calm it's better). The scooter gave us freedom to roam to beaches, grocery store and the many options for dinners and sunset viewing. Rodger, the owner, is a wonderful host and a font of island information, Utila natives are so friendly, you'll find it hard to leave.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, I, and two other couples traveled to Utila for 7 nights in December 2010. The trip was wonderful and authentic. The house was fantastic. Rodger was very helpful and made the trip easy and enjoyable. Without Rodger's help, we probably would have never made it to this beautiful little island! He arranged for transportation from San Pedro Sula to the ferry in La Ceiba, and was waiting for us at the ferry dock when we arrived. The house was amazing and exceeded everyone's expectations. The activities that we did while in Utila included a big game fishing trip and a kayak adventure to the north shore, along with lots and lots of snorkeling. It was the rainy season, so the weather was hit or miss and it did rain a few days during our trip. Utila is lots of fun rain or shine. The town was original and small. This is not an island that caters to the resorts and the cruise ships. This island is very modest and down to earth. If you are looking for lots of souvenir shops and tourist spots and activities, this is not the place. If you are looking for a place to come and chill out, this is it! Thanks for the hospitality Rodger!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We had a gorgeous view and a spacious house with all the amenities. Two of our group of friends are vegans and the owner, Rodger, even produce shopped for us! The nice kitchen and big fridge were important as we ate many meals at the house; the 3 bathrooms were great as our group numbered 8 at one point in the trip; the wifi and air conditioning were reliable and appreciated. We had access to a scooter for quick trips to town but tuc tucs (little taxis) were only minutes in coming when called. Rodger put us in contact with a wonderful dive operation and we thoroughly enjoyed 3 dives on most days. We give excellent marks to Las Brisas, Rodger and Utila!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Four of us spent 4 nights in this house in October. The house is in a great location, not too far from town but far enough out to have peace and quiet. Rodger who owns the house made sure we had the best time possible, He lives in the house next door. He went beyond the call of duty for his guests. He arranged our last minute flight on a charter from Roatan due to bad weather, picked us up from the airport on arrival, did all our grocery shopping beforehand and answered our oodles of questions. He even called the airport for us everyday to check on our missing bag. If that wasn't enough he called to see who had the best divemasters and then personally went diving with us to make sure we were fine. You couldn't get his type of service in a 5 star hotel! The house was fully equipped with everything you needed and very clean. I wouldn't have to think twice about staying here again-- it was a real pleasure. Thank you Rodger for making our trip a memorable one!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Las Brisas. The house was beautiful and there is plenty of space to spread out. Dinner on the lanai was great. The beach (great snorkeling) right next door was awesome. It's also only about a 20 min walk into town which was very convenient. I've been all over the carribean and I would definately recommend Utila as a better vacation spot. It's so laid back and relaxing. Hoping to go back very soon... Also you'll be blown away by the stars you can see there at night :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent two weeks in this fabulous house. SO much space for all of us, great views from both terraces over the Paradise Cove with schools of fish and even turtles and tarpons seen when snorkeling there with my kids. We were diving every day around Utila with Rodger, the owner who lived just next to our villa. The location is quiet, absolutely safe, just palms, cliffs, sand, sea surge and sun, less than 5 minutes by golf cart to the very „downtown“. We had a few troubles as well. The sand flies occurred during sunrise & sunset time when the wind was down. Fortunately, Trade Winds is a windward side of the island. A serious problem happened just two days prior long Easter weekend – my wife got severe toothache,. She was scared what might happen on such remote island (ferry was off, businesses shut down, people were drinking and just celebrating). I asked Rodger what to do. He took his scooter and found the best doctor on Utila, got strong pain killers and even good antibiotics for my wife. Thank goodness, the pain killers and antibiotics helped instantly! I cannot imagine what to do if not him! Another “accident” happened just a few days later – when driving the golf cart down to the town, one tire burst out. We left the cart on the main street and walked back. Rodger was at home, just asked for keys, took his scooter and disappeared. We got some pina colada and discussed what Rodger could do so quick with totally damaged tire during public holidays. Within an hour or two Rodger appeared in the door. He gave me the keys and the cart was parking in front of the garage, with ALL wheels brand new! In short, terrific holidays – we saw some VERY interesting stuff underwater. Amazing labyrints, sea horses, frog fish, dolphins underwater (three times!) and even BLUE MARLIN swimming above us being as shallow as 30 feet. Unfortunatel, we were too early to see the whale shark. If you want to escape from overcrowded places filled with 5* Hotels, spending time in real Carribean while having great comfort, getting almost total independence while having somebody who is ready to help you any time, Rodger´s and Loretta´s villa is for you. Yeah, almost forgot – we were dining in our outstanding house every day taking the BBQ away from local restaurant. Fantastic fish (wahoo, barracuda, mahi-mahi, king fish, etc) for less than 6 bucks or delicious lobster for just 17… We look forward to being back in Las Brisas next year again to see and adopt the whale shark.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Our week at Las Brisas was outstanding. The house is beautiful both inside as well as the location. It sits diredctly on the ocean and snorkeling is just footsteps from the house. Rodger rented us scooters and it took only 5-10 minutes to get into town. Rodger was very helpful in all aspects of our stay. It started with his extreme flexibility. We were originally supposed to stay back in November 2009 and the day before our stay we saw on the news that a hurricane could possibly hit Utila. At the last minute Rodger allowed us to reschedule. He was there to help with anything we needed during our stay including a tour on his boat to Cayos Cochinos and a whale shark hunt. I give Rodger and the house the very highest recommendation! If you are looking for paradise, you'll find it at Las Brisas in Paradise Cove. The home is gorgeous and immaculately kept, with all of the luxuries you're used to at home (or better!). From the natural stone tile and handmade solid wood interior doors, to the custom tiled showers and stainless steel North American appliances, it is quite evident that no detail was overlooked. You have all the privacy you could ask for, but it still has all the conveniences of being a short 5 minute scooter ride in to town. And you have you own personal aquarium to snorkel in right in the back yard cove! We saw hundreds of amazing fish - beautiful parrott fish, trunkfish, and colourful angelfish, just to name a few. Don't forget your water shoes and snorkel gear! (but these can easily be purchased and rented in town). Rodger and his wife were the best hosts you could ask for. Having never been to Central America, we were a little nervous, but Rodger answered all of our million questions and arranged everything for us. He seems to be on a first-name basis with everyone on the entire island (including their pets!). He was so accommodating and was always easy for us to get a hold of. His number one concern really was to make sure that our vacation was the best it could be. We felt so at home here thanks to all of his help. Everyone we met in town (locals and other travellers) were some of the nicest people we've met on vacation. We felt so safe and welcomed. Don't miss going to Babalu's bar & grill for evening underwater life viewing, and make sure you stop at RJ's for dinner! If you're looking for artwork, Gunter's has some very unique pieces! (And he's also full of great stories!) And don't forget to ask Rodger about his Eco-tours to Cayos Cochinos and whale shark spotting ... this was one of the many highlights of our trip! We can't wait to come back and visit our little piece of heaven, and we will be sure to call Rodger when we're ready! Thank you SO much Rodger for an experience that words can't describe!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Las Brisas in Utila at the end of May and it was fantastic. It is a beautiful home with an unbelievable view. Every day we would go snorkel in what seemed like our own private bay. This one area has tons of beautiful coral, hundreds of colorful fish, and even some squid. A big grouper and moray eel were setting up home at the point leading into the bay and were great to watch. All of this literally just a few steps from your door. The entire visit was made even better by the property’s owners Rodger and Loretta. We weren’t quite sure of our itinerary because traveling to and from Utila can be a bit of a challenge. We took a catamaran from Roatan and Loretta was on the dock waiting for us when we arrived with Roger arriving minutes afterwards. Our bags (we overpacked…you don’t need much and their place has a washer and dryer) were grabbed and taken to their waiting golf cart. After that they took us right to the house and gave us the tour (bottle of wine waiting for us at the house). Both of them offered all kinds of helpful advice and were always available should we need anything. During our visit there was a 7.1 magnatude earthquake at 2:30 in the morning and within minutes Rodger was at the door, flashlight in hand, making sure we were ok. They are great people. When we left Rodger was picking us up at 5:30 in the morning to make sure we got to the ferry on time. I could see him on the dock waiting to make sure the ferry left. We also booked a fishing trip on Rodger’s boat. He brought along his guide, Donnie. We had a great time and lots of laughs. We didn’t get the Wahoo we were after but still brought in some great big barracuda. Had a great time but watch out…Donnie always has to much loose line in the boat :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at Rodger's Las Brisas home for a week in January. The home was beautiful and the personal service we received from Rodger and his assistant Harris was unmatched. They organized our bike rentals and got us to and from the shop, met us at the ferry and delivered us to the house. Rodger gave us a tour of town and hit the high-lights of where to shop and eat. Additionally he was able to get what ever food we had a desire for. The snokling in front of Las Brisas is wonderful. The island is quaint and safe. A much more calming stay than Roatan. You won't be disappointed stay here!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
