The Honua Kai is a beautiful resort -- it's not too crowded and has all of the amenities you need. We had our 3 children with us (ages 8, 7, and 4) and they had a great time. Our unit was very nice, and it looks like most of the units would be equally as nice. I have not one bad thing to say about our experience. It was a wonderful vacation.

Our extended family visited Maui for my niece's wedding in July. My daughter and two grandchildren, my husband and I rented this condo for the week. It was absolutely perfect for us! The resort is beautiful, well maintained, and nicely appointed. The condo was stocked with almost everything one would need for the week. We did plan to cook some of our meals and there were the basic cookware, serving dishes, utensils and appliances. Having books, games, sand toys, boogie boards, beach chairs was a plus! The washer and dryer proved to be more helpful than I anticipated. What you see in the photos is exactly what you see. The lanai is HUGE, bathrooms spacious, living area easily accomodated our group. The condo is well maintained and property manager is a phone call away. The bed was the most comfortable bed, other than my own, I've ever slept in, away from home. And I have to mention the heavenly pillows! The rental process was surprisingly easy and straight forward. The free internet was handy for my husband to do a little business in the mornings. We thought a beach front would have been nice, however, we larger view is of the mountains and the daily afternoon rainbow! We loved being on the boardwalk for our daily walks. A market is within easy walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay. We would come back again and rent this unit again. We highly recommend this condo and this resort!

Fabulous, spacious unit, perfect for trips with small kids and grandparents

We stayed here from June 25th through July 2nd, and truly enjoyed our time. The unit was just gorgeous. Very spacious, super clean and perfect for a trip with two toddlers and the grandparents. I loved that both rooms had their own bathrooms, and that everything was essentially identical, so there were no issues about who got what room. The showers were great, my kids loved the bathtubs, and the beds were fantastic. Haven't slept so well in a long time. We even checked the mattress brand so that we could buy the same bed. Having a high chair and sand toys and kids books already there made things much easier - so much less to pack! The lanai is so extensive, it's unbelievable, and the overall property is just lovely. My older son loved the waterslide at the pool (he just turned 4 last weekend, and just barely made the height cutoff), and the grassy areas were great for running around and playing. Duke's often had live music playing in the evenings, so we could listen to the music while using the BBQs and watching the beautiful sunset. Really, just a perfect family resort. Not too fussy, but everything you could want. Snorkeling was great right off the beach, headed south towards Black Rock. We went on a trip to Molokini, and honestly, it was better off the beach in front of Honua Kai. Less surge, same fish, equal visibility on the day we went to Molokini. The sand is really soft, and the wind keeps it from getting too hot. There are trees on the beach, too, which give some nice shade for the grandparents. We will totally check availability of this unit for future trips to Maui. Thanks for such a great trip.

This was my first rental through VRBO and we were not disappointed. What a fantastic trip with great accomodations! The property and unit were just as described. I especially like this resort because unlike most places in Maui it is relatively new. The unit was well kept with high end decor and very comfortable. The kids furnishings, like the high chair and pak-n-play, were especially helpful. It's a great touch for families traveling with children. This unit and the resort were beautiful and we will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Maui. Thank you so much for a great stay and smooth transaction!

This was exactly what we needed. It had everything we needed to travel with our one-year-old, and the place was great for the adults to enjoy themselves too. Weather was a bit windy, but the resort was great, good pools, a great shopping center across the street with restaurants and groceries, good running paths (or long walk to Whaler's), short drive to Lahaina, Duke's happy hour is awesome. The condo was in great condition, the balcony was huge (though it wasn't private since it had no wall between this condo and the one around the corner), and was very very nice. I would stay here many times over. Thanks so much!!!

My family had a wonderful stay in this unit. It is a very family friendly unit filled with all of the kid essentials. All I had to pack were my newborn and toddler clothes. Thanks for making us feel so comfortable and thanks for letting us pack so litely. We loved the beach, pools, and gym at this resort. It was the perfect unit to share with grandparents, which we did. It comfortably slept 4 adults and the pack n plays were great. We loved the fully stocked kitchen, we ate in most meals. There is a nice grocery store within walking distance that we frequented daily. The restaurant onsite had awesome food and a great happy hour. Thanks for making our family vacation so memorable, we'd love to come back. We LOVED the resort and beachwalk. We strolled along the beachwalk (that can go over 5 miles) each morning. Renting from Jacki was so easy. She was a pleasure to work with. Awesome vacation! Awesome condo!

My fmaily of 4 adults and 1 16 month old had the pleasure of staying for 2 weeks. I manage a Travel Agengy and have been travelling to Hawaii for the past 25 years so am very familar with the accommodations on Maui. The Honua Kai was beyond our expectations - great beachfront location, well maintained unit , spotless grounds and excellent pools for both children and adults .We enjoyed the easy access to the mini mall at the entrance to the propery , the walking trail , Dukes restaurant not to mention the easy 5 minute drive to the Whalers Village . I found both Jackie and her Dad John very easy to work with and very professional. Our 2 bedroom unit was perfect for two couples or a family as each bedroom offerred privacy and both had a full bathroom. We spent the majority of our evenings sitting on the lanai which made the unit seem even larger . I have also booked other clients into Jackie's units , and all have returned with the same comments " It is a Fantastic Property" I would highly recommend staying at the Honua Kai and look forward to our next visit.

Great resort

We stayed here for 7 nights with our children and enjoyed every minute. The pictures shown and amenities listed are accurate. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The resort grounds, pools and public areas were clean and well maintained. This is a perfect location to stay on Maui! You're close to everything. There are a couple very nice beaches 10 minutes to the north of the resort, one with shade and picnic grounds. If you stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Our family of 4 stayed and it was perfect. There was plenty of room and the teenagers had their own space, making a a very pleasant vacation. We stayed here for 6 nights and @ Wailea Beach for one night. This is the place to be! Jackie and her dad John were very kind and professional, and have thought of everything necessary to make a relaxing vacation. If we are lucky enough to return to Maui, we will stay at Honau Kai again!

My two sisters and I stayed in this condo - what a fantastic place! It has so much square footage!!! We had plenty of room. The furnishings and the condo finishes were superior - granite countertops, stainless countertops, down comforters - all very very nice! The condo was well stocked with all the essentials. And there is a Star Market (normal sized grocery store) just around the corner). The washer dryer was nice for keeping our wet clothes to a minimum. The pool was nice, as was the beach. The pools will be terrific when all the construction is done. The location was not bad...it's a pretty good walk to Whaler's Village (~1.5 miles) - being on the boardwalk is nice. You definately need a car to go to dinner or anywhere. We enjoyed being in a quieter area. Also, the construction was no problem at all - we never heard a sound. I would definately stay here again and recommend this place to anyone.

Wow. What a perfect spot for a family vacation. The condo was fabulous and well suited for our needs. While the complex is not finished yet, that did not stop us from having a great vacation. The pool and beachfront are great. The unit has everything you could possibly need! Again, thanks it was great.

I have a family of 4 and this condo was perfect for us. We had plenty of room to spread out, and the washer/dryer kept our wet clothes to a minimum. Jacki Motto was great to work with, and I would highly recommend this condo.

Fantastic apartment, great size, wonderful amenities, beautiful place, really loved out time here. Jacki the owner and her dad the property manager were brilliant to deal with too. Highly recommended! The resort is lovely and will be even better when it's all complete.
