Charming Cottage--Walk to Douglas Beach!

Year Purchased: 2003

Why the Owner Chose Douglas

Some close friends of mine also own second homes in the Douglas and Saugatuck communities. With its beautiful beaches, terrific restaurants, and nearby entertainment, Douglas and Saugatuck is worlds away from Chicago!

The Unique Benefits at this House

Living in Chicago doesn't allow me much opportunity to see and actually live with deer, wild Turkey and dozens of species of birds that I've encountered while in Douglas. The cottage is close to the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan where the waters are warmer and really are a more beautiful shade of blue than I see in Chicago!

Owner's Map of Douglas

My career managing a tourism program in Chicago has been exciting and challenging, yet at the same time allows me to learn more about my unique and fascinating city. My greatest pleasure is being with my family-- my daughter and son-in-law, and my two darling and very handsome grandsons. In my free time I enjoy dining at any of the many, many ethnic restaurants around Chicago, going to Jazz clubs, or just relaxing with friends and family at my cottage in Michigan!

    • Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful house. Great location on quiet street, easy walk to the Douglas beach. The house is very nicely decorated and well stocked. We really enjoyed the front porch during our down time. My girls also appreciated finding all of the toys in the chest. Very kid friendly, thanks!

    • Our family just got back from a short stay in this cottage. It is absolutely lovely! We loved the decorations and it was very spacious. This home is very clean and in a great area. The owner is very helpful and even gave us suggestions of things do during our trip. We definitely recommend!!

    • We have stayed at this cottage once but will stay there again. The house is well appointed and warm, the area very quiet and yet close to the lake as well as the charming towns of Douglas and Saugatuck. A very nice place to get away.

    • We've stayed here many times and love it more and more each time we visit. The front porch is perfect for relaxing any time of day. Our son loves walking to the beach and going to the park in downtown Saugatuck. We'll be back again!

    • We've stayed in this home twice (once with our grandson) and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The living/dining doors completely open onto the screened-in porch bringing the beautifully landscaped front yard right into the home. The road in front of the home is rarely used by traffic so it is a peaceful, tranquil area with deer, wild turkeys and other wildlife frequent visitors. It's a quick walk to Lake Michigan and there's a wonderful Farmers Market in town - along with all the shops and restaurants. The home is beautifully decorated and maintained. I look forward to our next visit.
