Charming Cottage--Walk to Douglas Beach!
Year Purchased: 2010
Why the Owner Chose Douglas
Some close friends of mine also own second homes in the Douglas and Saugatuck communities. With its beautiful beaches, terrific restaurants, and nearby entertainment, Douglas and Saugatuck is worlds away from Chicago!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Living in Chicago doesn't allow me much opportunity to see and actually live with deer, wild turkeys and dozens of species of birds that I've encountered while in Douglas. The cottage is close to the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan where the waters are warmer and really are a more beautiful shade of blue than I see in Chicago!
2 blocks west of Lake Michigan, within a 10 minute walk to the Douglas Public Beach
2 blocks east of Lake Michigan shore. 10 minute walk to Douglas Public Beach.

We just spent the weekend at this wonderful home with two other couples. As nice as the pictures are, they do not even due justice to how attractive it is. It is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, yet literally minutes from both Saugatuck and Douglas. The inside is just beautiful, yet comfortable and cozy. We felt like we were at home, not a vacation rental. No detail was overlooked. The home was also exceptionally clean, which we appreciated. This will go at the top of our list for future rentals. Thanks for a weekend filled with laughter and wonderful memories!!

What a beautiful home for a long weekend away! The owner was great to work with and the house had many amenities, such as beach toys, bikes, two full baths, wireless internet, satelite tv and more! We loved that we didn't need to bring our own bedding or towels...everything was provided. We even saw deer eating off the trees in the morning and about a dozen wild turkeys wandering across the street. We can't wait to return!

Our friends and my husband and I just spent a long weekend at the Charming Cottage and found it to be all the given information said it would be! It was very comfortable, and had many added details for guests to enjoy - great linens, many bath toiletries, surround sound (perfect for our downloaded 60"s music), and a wonderful front porch and back patio. It was very quiet and peaceful, and we did see a dear family one morning strolling by our front porch, and nibbling the landscaping (sorry, Brett!!). Would recommend to a girls' getaway, families with children or older couples like us!! ( age - early 60"s and young at heart)

Loved the easy access to one of the most beautiful beaches we've seen. So quiet at night; deer greeted us in the morning (while munching on the shrubery). House had all the amenities, including high-quality bedding, pillows, towels. Very clean. Great grocery store nearby. Owner stayed in touch and was eager to make our visit special. We'll come again.

LOVED this house. It was GORGEOUS. Everything was very well thought through and we didn't ask for much more. The owner is fantastic, gets back to you very quickly and very easy and accommodating. It looked EXACTLY like in the pictures. The only thing was that the bathroom upstairs wasn't so clean, with a shower curtain full of dubious stains and some hair on the floor. I think the cleaning crew do a general sweep and tidy up but not a thorough scrub. There was also no kettle for boiling water in the kitchen, although the kitchen was quite well-equipped otherwise. But the place was very, very charming! I showed my friends pictures and they all want to go. the dining area is adorable and comfortable. we had a good time!

This cottage is great for young and old alike. We had young children, parents and grandparents and all felt at home. The screen porch is a perfect place to relax and the pictures are really exactly how the home looks. You are also close to a beautiful walk right along the lake and can see sunsets every night.

We had a lovely time staying at the cottage. The house is beautiful, inside and out! Every detail is perfect, and Brett is so easy to work with! There is plenty to do in the area....there are orchards nearby (we picked cherries in July), shops, nice restaurants, and of course the beach! We will be back!

Quiet area, within short walk to beach. Clean and cozy home with everything you need. We would stay here again if in the area. Looks just like the photos in the ad, and we saw deer in the yard.
