The glowing reviews from prior are all accurate. There is so much more that is right with going here, the details. I was blown away that Tom and Linda would leave for guest use a local cell phone to call Willy - the Property Manager/Driver. Little touches like that are apparent that these folks take care of the details to ensure a worry free vacation. I know there is some anxiety possible when booking a private property like this, but rest easy, prepare to be impressed, I was.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Lovely home in a great location on the beach. Staff was very helpful and attentive. This is a great place to stay if you really want to get away. We had the beach virtually to ourselves throughout our stay. Very quiet and peaceful.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The property was perfectly situated on the beach! Very few neighbors, so we got the beach all to ourselves. Nice, clean pool and pool space with umbrellas and beach chairs, grill and outside dining table. The bedrooms were spacious, with fans in roof and by bed-side and each had its own bathroom. The water in the showers though was not warm, more luke.. but this is Dominican Republic, and is to be expected :-) The living room area was big with couch and chairs (could have been a bit more comfortable though..), books to read and movies to watch if desired. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking just about everything, but water cooler did not provide cold water, and some glasses could have been replaced as they had seen better days :-). The property was kept very clean by Mari, who came every morning to ensure everything was kept in order, including cleaning our clothes if we wanted. Cosme, the pool keeper, came each morning to ensure the pool was in perfect condition, and he also helped with bugs etc when needed (it was the first rain in many months, so we had him fumigate the place to kill some mosquitos). If we wanted some local food dinners in the house, Mari was more than happy to cook for us for USD 20 and the food was great! We could also get fish/lobsters from her brother who was a fisherman, but- the lobster is a bit expensive. Crab is more reasonable. At night we were kept safe by a gard (whos name I am sorry I do not remember), but it was good to know that we were being taken well care of. We did not rent a car, Willy took us everywhere we needed to go, including stores and outings in the vicinity. He charged us less than the taxi rate, but since gas prices have recently risen it was not very cheap. But considering we did not need to rent a car it was a good deal. We went to Cabarete at night- cool beach bar- street! And we went to Rio San Juan to a beautiful beach, where we had a boat trip in the mangroves. Great outing! I will highly recommend this house as a vacation location if you want to spend time and see the REAL Dominican Republic, away from tourists etc :-). And lastly- Linda was very service minded and responded very quickly to all e-mails and queries prior to our trip :-)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

As the title says, "Oops, we did it again!" We came BACK to Casa Linda exactly 1 year later to celebrate our 1 year anniversary/honeymoon without our children this time. As much as I thought it could never be possible, this trip was even BETTER than our first time! So much better that we extended our stay a few days (thank you again, Tom and Linda for allowing us to do so) and even had the wonderful pleasure of meeting and spending time with Tom! Once again, the staff, Willie, Cosme, and Mari, went above and beyond to make our stay our best vacation EVER!!! Words cannot describe what a wonderful place this is.....only made better by the people (Linda, Tom, The Staff, and the locals!) Our hopes now are to buy our own little piece of paradise in Las Canas, but until that happens (and as long as Linda and Tom will allow), we will continue to call Casa Linda our Paradise Home!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What to say about this wonderful place?!?!?! (our new home away from home, but in PARADISE!!) My husband and I found this "quaint villa" online and (very skeptically) booked it, as we live on the Northwest Coast of the US and have always called Hawaii our "paradise"! What an incredible surprise!!! With our 3 teenage kids in tow, we not only spent 10 of the most incredible days here, we enlisted the aide of the wonderful staff (Willy, Cosme, and Mari) to help us not only plan, but participate in our beach front wedding! (It's safe to say that after MANY years together, my husband and I found the PERFECT place to FINALLY say our vows!) I am now extremely happy to say that my husband and I are returning in April, for 12 days for our 1 year anniversary and long overdue Honeymoon (without kids this time!) Thank you, thank you, thank you Linda and the wonderful staff at Casa Linda for allowing this to be our "sanctuary" as well! I can't wait to be back "home"! ps...it is with very mixed emotion that I give our "sanctuary" such good reviews, as I'd like to keep it as private and available as possible for my husband and I, but..........Casa Linda and the staff deserve nothing but the BEST of reviews and comes astronomically recommended by us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was our second stay at Casa Linda. We enjoyed it so much last year that we had to go back. The house, gardens, beach and pool were all fantastic. The staff are warm and friendly and make the stay there extra special. Tom and Linda were very helpful and made sure everything went exactly according to plan. Willie the driver/manager met us at the airport and Mari was cooking our meal when we arrived. Cosme had the pool and gardens in great shape and they all greeted us like we were part of their family. We walked on the beautiful sandy beach every day and rarely saw another person. If you are looking for a quiet vacation far from the noise and crowds of the typical resort areas I can't think of a better spot. If you enjoy fighting for a lounge by the pool, crowded noisy bar scenes, and obnoxious neighbours this is not for you.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Booking was extremely easy and I received many informative emails from owner Linda in answer to my 1001 questions. We booked 10 days at the beach house and another 4 days at a house in town. We both loved Casa Linda and were so happy to have spent the majority of our holiday here instead of the other way around! Willy (manager/driver for hire) picked us up at the airport and was easy to spot holding up the sign we were told to look for. The drive to the house was mostly on the main highway and maybe took about 45min not including our stop at the grocery store for supplies. The house is located off the highway down a bumpy dirt road with farm land on one side, and the walls/gates of all the homes which line the beach side. “Our house” is set further back and was a pleasure to see as we drove into the yard. The pool is the first thing to draw the eye with lots of reclining chairs, sun umbrellas, table with umbrella, and BBQ (must not forget tons of pool floaties too). The Bougainvillea vine climbing the pergola into the entry is beautiful and I want one. Unfortunately it won’t grow here in Alberta. I think I danced a jig as we walked into the home and took in the 20ft(?) ceilings, how bright and open it is, felt the warm breeze, and looked straight out to the back and the magnificent view of the ocean which was RIGHT THERE!!! AMAZING. Yes, this was my happy place for 10 relaxing days. We quickly got into the routine of Fior with her wonderful massages, Mari and her daily tidying up, Cosme and his sunny smile (actually…Everyone was always smiling) and managed to blow thru all the books we had brought so dug into the supply at the house. The beach was almost always deserted (do cows count?), but we would occasionally see the footprints of a dog or two and the person they were out walking. Falling asleep each night to the sound of the crashing waves was way better than the sound machine I have beside my bed at home haha. The memory of my morning ritual of being the first one up and watching the sunrise with a coffee in hand and walking through the warm waves will carry me through what remains of winter here. Until next time Casa Linda……….Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Casa Linda offers a very relaxing experience with a serene, tropical atmosphere. The house, furnishings, and grounds are well maintained by friendly and helpful staff. During our stay the pool was a wonderful and inviting place to enjoy the warm Island sunshine. The beautiful beach offers walks of uninterrupted peacefulness when you can admire the ocean, the sky and the gently waving palms, while searching in the sand for treasures of shells and sea glass. All the staff work very hard to make Casa Linda a very special place to stay. From our first experience with Willy, who met us at the airport, to our final good-byes each person treated us with respect and friendliness. We enjoyed our first stay at Casa Linda so much that we have booked to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Renting a vacation property site unseen is always risky – especially when the property is in another country, and especially when you don’t speak the language of that country. So, needless to say, we were excited, but still somewhat anxious about traveling all the way from South Carolina to the Dominican Republic for our 6 day stay a few weeks ago. But, Casa Linda was all we had hoped it would be and so much more – it really exceeded our highest expectations. It was, without question, all this site promotes it to be and then some. Our only surprise upon arrival was that it was actually even more beautiful than we ever imagined it would be. Linda Thompson (the owner) went “above and beyond” in providing us with information, not only about her home and her staff, but also provided useful information such as where to buy groceries, restaurant suggestions, nearest medical facilities, etc. She was wonderful in every way and eased the minds of 5 southern girls traveling so far away from home. The other reviews of this property are not exaggerated. This home is beautiful and very well kept. The breath-taking beauty of our Dominican “back yard” was something we couldn’t resist sending pictures of all week to our friends back in South Carolina, and they were all VERY jealous (mission accomplished)! :) We had never seen such beautiful sunrises and sunsets – they were, by far, some of God’s greatest handiwork! We are typically not early risers, especially on vacation, but after seeing that first sunrise, we were hooked and didn't miss another one! If you are considering a vacation to the Dominican Republic and want to be close to some great little towns with lots of fun stuff to do, but still have the quiet and peacefulness of your own private beach and pool, Casa Linda is the place for you! The beauty of nature surrounding this home is only surpassed by the beauty of the wonderful Dominican people who care for it -- you will NOT be disappointed. Thanks, Linda, for not just renting to us, but for really caring that we enjoyed our stay. We will be back!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family, including two teen age daughters ages 15 and 17, spent a very memorable week and a half at Casa Linda. Typical of our travels, we were looking for a real experience, not our normal life transplanted to another location. The arrangement Casa Linda has with Mari, Cosme and Willy really makes staying at Casa Linda a unique experience. We would have managed on our own, but we were able to experience and see so much more of the area with their assistance. We had four incredible meals prepared by Mari, each unique in their own right, each truly Dominican, and each delicious. The last meal consisted of lobster we bought from the local fishermen on the road and grilled ourselves on the gas grill (Mari and Cosme seemed intrigued by this, I don’t know if they had see it prepared this way), and Mari fixed all the sides. It was probably the best meal we had on the trip, and nice way to close out the stay. Anyone staying at Casa Linda should take Mari up on her offer to prepare at least one meal. Cosme takes great pride in his work; I’d love to see the house 5 years from now when his gardens mature. Whether it was water, the generator or a friendly “Buenos Dias” each morning, we really enjoyed his presence. Willy, Mari, Cosme and Josmire (Mari’s daughter) made our trip comfortable and rewarding. Willy is the most polite, punctual, respectful individual I have encountered in quite some time. We had considered renting a car, but elected to utilize Willy’s services instead. This was one of the best decisions we made. Willy was able to recommend restaurants, show us obscure beaches, helped negotiate rates for a memorable boat ride and show us areas that were “off the beaten path”. We visited botanical gardens, mountain biked, rode horses, lounged on the beach, had remarkable meals on the beach and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We asked our girls on the last night if they had a choice, would they have rather gone to southern California, the beaches and Disney Land (one option we discussed), or come to the Dominican Republic like we did. Without hesitation they both responded that they were glad that they had gone to the Dominican Republic. I think that they gained a new appreciation for what they have in life. I feel like our family got to experience the Dominican Republic culture in a way we would have never been able to had we stayed at a resort or all-inclusive.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Over the years my husband and I visited many different Caribbean islands. After vacationing for four or five years on the north shore of the Dominican Republic we realized this was where we wanted to build our vacation villa. The year round good weather, beautiful countryside and the friendliness of the Dominican people ensure we enjoy the time we spend there.
Why the Owner Chose Cabarete:
We wanted to be fairly close to the town of Cabarete so we could enjoy the shops, restaurants and grocery stores. However, we preferred to build our villa in a quiet country setting directly on the ocean. Friends of ours discovered our building lot on a charming little country road. The moment we saw the beautiful beach and abundance of coco trees, we knew that this was our idea of a private paradise.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
In the morning we wake up to the sounds of birds singing and the waves rolling in on our beach.
While we have our breakfast of fresh local fruit our gardener is making sure the pool is absolutely perfect. We watch our housekeeper's brothers out fishing in front of our villa and later they will come by with fresh lobster or crab, if you choose to buy it, they will clean & cook it. Perhaps, we will arrange to have a massage on the beach that day, it is all amazing!!
