The glowing reviews from prior are all accurate. There is so much more that is right with going here, the details. I was blown away that Tom and Linda would leave for guest use a local cell phone to call Willy - the Property Manager/Driver. Little touches like that are apparent that these folks take care of the details to ensure a worry free vacation. I know there is some anxiety possible when booking a private property like this, but rest easy, prepare to be impressed, I was.

Lovely home in a great location on the beach. Staff was very helpful and attentive. This is a great place to stay if you really want to get away. We had the beach virtually to ourselves throughout our stay. Very quiet and peaceful.

Great beach property in quiet area
Great beach property in quiet area
The property was perfectly situated on the beach! Very few neighbors, so we got the beach all to ourselves. Nice, clean pool and pool space with umbrellas and beach chairs, grill and outside dining table. The bedrooms were spacious, with fans in roof and by bed-side and each had its own bathroom. The water in the showers though was not warm, more luke.. but this is Dominican Republic, and is to be expected :-) The living room area was big with couch and chairs (could have been a bit more comfortable though..), books to read and movies to watch if desired. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking just about everything, but water cooler did not provide cold water, and some glasses could have been replaced as they had seen better days :-). The property was kept very clean by Mari, who came every morning to ensure everything was kept in order, including cleaning our clothes if we wanted. Cosme, the pool keeper, came each morning to ensure the pool was in perfect condition, and he also helped with bugs etc when needed (it was the first rain in many months, so we had him fumigate the place to kill some mosquitos). If we wanted some local food dinners in the house, Mari was more than happy to cook for us for USD 20 and the food was great! We could also get fish/lobsters from her brother who was a fisherman, but- the lobster is a bit expensive. Crab is more reasonable. At night we were kept safe by a gard (whos name I am sorry I do not remember), but it was good to know that we were being taken well care of. We did not rent a car, Willy took us everywhere we needed to go, including stores and outings in the vicinity. He charged us less than the taxi rate, but since gas prices have recently risen it was not very cheap. But considering we did not need to rent a car it was a good deal. We went to Cabarete at night- cool beach bar- street! And we went to Rio San Juan to a beautiful beach, where we had a boat trip in the mangroves. Great outing! I will highly recommend this house as a vacation location if you want to spend time and see the REAL Dominican Republic, away from tourists etc :-). And lastly- Linda was very service minded and responded very quickly to all e-mails and queries prior to our trip :-)

OOPS!!! We did it AGAIN!! :)
OOPS!!! We did it AGAIN!! :)
As the title says, "Oops, we did it again!" We came BACK to Casa Linda exactly 1 year later to celebrate our 1 year anniversary/honeymoon without our children this time. As much as I thought it could never be possible, this trip was even BETTER than our first time! So much better that we extended our stay a few days (thank you again, Tom and Linda for allowing us to do so) and even had the wonderful pleasure of meeting and spending time with Tom! Once again, the staff, Willie, Cosme, and Mari, went above and beyond to make our stay our best vacation EVER!!! Words cannot describe what a wonderful place this is.....only made better by the people (Linda, Tom, The Staff, and the locals!) Our hopes now are to buy our own little piece of paradise in Las Canas, but until that happens (and as long as Linda and Tom will allow), we will continue to call Casa Linda our Paradise Home!!!

This was our second stay at Casa Linda. We enjoyed it so much last year that we had to go back. The house, gardens, beach and pool were all fantastic. The staff are warm and friendly and make the stay there extra special. Tom and Linda were very helpful and made sure everything went exactly according to plan. Willie the driver/manager met us at the airport and Mari was cooking our meal when we arrived. Cosme had the pool and gardens in great shape and they all greeted us like we were part of their family. We walked on the beautiful sandy beach every day and rarely saw another person. If you are looking for a quiet vacation far from the noise and crowds of the typical resort areas I can't think of a better spot. If you enjoy fighting for a lounge by the pool, crowded noisy bar scenes, and obnoxious neighbours this is not for you.

We found our happy place.....
We found our happy place.....
Booking was extremely easy and I received many informative emails from owner Linda in answer to my 1001 questions. We booked 10 days at the beach house and another 4 days at a house in town. We both loved Casa Linda and were so happy to have spent the majority of our holiday here instead of the other way around! Willy (manager/driver for hire) picked us up at the airport and was easy to spot holding up the sign we were told to look for. The drive to the house was mostly on the main highway and maybe took about 45min not including our stop at the grocery store for supplies. The house is located off the highway down a bumpy dirt road with farm land on one side, and the walls/gates of all the homes which line the beach side. “Our house” is set further back and was a pleasure to see as we drove into the yard. The pool is the first thing to draw the eye with lots of reclining chairs, sun umbrellas, table with umbrella, and BBQ (must not forget tons of pool floaties too). The Bougainvillea vine climbing the pergola into the entry is beautiful and I want one. Unfortunately it won’t grow here in Alberta. I think I danced a jig as we walked into the home and took in the 20ft(?) ceilings, how bright and open it is, felt the warm breeze, and looked straight out to the back and the magnificent view of the ocean which was RIGHT THERE!!! AMAZING. Yes, this was my happy place for 10 relaxing days. We quickly got into the routine of Fior with her wonderful massages, Mari and her daily tidying up, Cosme and his sunny smile (actually…Everyone was always smiling) and managed to blow thru all the books we had brought so dug into the supply at the house. The beach was almost always deserted (do cows count?), but we would occasionally see the footprints of a dog or two and the person they were out walking. Falling asleep each night to the sound of the crashing waves was way better than the sound machine I have beside my bed at home haha. The memory of my morning ritual of being the first one up and watching the sunrise with a coffee in hand and walking through the warm waves will carry me through what remains of winter here. Until next time Casa Linda……….

Our new PARADISE!!!!
Our new PARADISE!!!!
What to say about this wonderful place?!?!?! (our new home away from home, but in PARADISE!!) My husband and I found this "quaint villa" online and (very skeptically) booked it, as we live on the Northwest Coast of the US and have always called Hawaii our "paradise"! What an incredible surprise!!! With our 3 teenage kids in tow, we not only spent 10 of the most incredible days here, we enlisted the aide of the wonderful staff (Willy, Cosme, and Mari) to help us not only plan, but participate in our beach front wedding! (It's safe to say that after MANY years together, my husband and I found the PERFECT place to FINALLY say our vows!) I am now extremely happy to say that my husband and I are returning in April, for 12 days for our 1 year anniversary and long overdue Honeymoon (without kids this time!) Thank you, thank you, thank you Linda and the wonderful staff at Casa Linda for allowing this to be our "sanctuary" as well! I can't wait to be back "home"! ps...it is with very mixed emotion that I give our "sanctuary" such good reviews, as I'd like to keep it as private and available as possible for my husband and I, but..........Casa Linda and the staff deserve nothing but the BEST of reviews and comes astronomically recommended by us!

Casa Linda Has Soul
Casa Linda Has Soul
Casa Linda offers a very relaxing experience with a serene, tropical atmosphere. The house, furnishings, and grounds are well maintained by friendly and helpful staff. During our stay the pool was a wonderful and inviting place to enjoy the warm Island sunshine. The beautiful beach offers walks of uninterrupted peacefulness when you can admire the ocean, the sky and the gently waving palms, while searching in the sand for treasures of shells and sea glass. All the staff work very hard to make Casa Linda a very special place to stay. From our first experience with Willy, who met us at the airport, to our final good-byes each person treated us with respect and friendliness. We enjoyed our first stay at Casa Linda so much that we have booked to return.

A little piece of paradise
A little piece of paradise
Renting a vacation property site unseen is always risky – especially when the property is in another country, and especially when you don’t speak the language of that country. So, needless to say, we were excited, but still somewhat anxious about traveling all the way from South Carolina to the Dominican Republic for our 6 day stay a few weeks ago. But, Casa Linda was all we had hoped it would be and so much more – it really exceeded our highest expectations. It was, without question, all this site promotes it to be and then some. Our only surprise upon arrival was that it was actually even more beautiful than we ever imagined it would be. Linda Thompson (the owner) went “above and beyond” in providing us with information, not only about her home and her staff, but also provided useful information such as where to buy groceries, restaurant suggestions, nearest medical facilities, etc. She was wonderful in every way and eased the minds of 5 southern girls traveling so far away from home. The other reviews of this property are not exaggerated. This home is beautiful and very well kept. The breath-taking beauty of our Dominican “back yard” was something we couldn’t resist sending pictures of all week to our friends back in South Carolina, and they were all VERY jealous (mission accomplished)! :) We had never seen such beautiful sunrises and sunsets – they were, by far, some of God’s greatest handiwork! We are typically not early risers, especially on vacation, but after seeing that first sunrise, we were hooked and didn't miss another one! If you are considering a vacation to the Dominican Republic and want to be close to some great little towns with lots of fun stuff to do, but still have the quiet and peacefulness of your own private beach and pool, Casa Linda is the place for you! The beauty of nature surrounding this home is only surpassed by the beauty of the wonderful Dominican people who care for it -- you will NOT be disappointed. Thanks, Linda, for not just renting to us, but for really caring that we enjoyed our stay. We will be back!!!

Our family, including two teen age daughters ages 15 and 17, spent a very memorable week and a half at Casa Linda. Typical of our travels, we were looking for a real experience, not our normal life transplanted to another location. The arrangement Casa Linda has with Mari, Cosme and Willy really makes staying at Casa Linda a unique experience. We would have managed on our own, but we were able to experience and see so much more of the area with their assistance. We had four incredible meals prepared by Mari, each unique in their own right, each truly Dominican, and each delicious. The last meal consisted of lobster we bought from the local fishermen on the road and grilled ourselves on the gas grill (Mari and Cosme seemed intrigued by this, I don’t know if they had see it prepared this way), and Mari fixed all the sides. It was probably the best meal we had on the trip, and nice way to close out the stay. Anyone staying at Casa Linda should take Mari up on her offer to prepare at least one meal. Cosme takes great pride in his work; I’d love to see the house 5 years from now when his gardens mature. Whether it was water, the generator or a friendly “Buenos Dias” each morning, we really enjoyed his presence. Willy, Mari, Cosme and Josmire (Mari’s daughter) made our trip comfortable and rewarding. Willy is the most polite, punctual, respectful individual I have encountered in quite some time. We had considered renting a car, but elected to utilize Willy’s services instead. This was one of the best decisions we made. Willy was able to recommend restaurants, show us obscure beaches, helped negotiate rates for a memorable boat ride and show us areas that were “off the beaten path”. We visited botanical gardens, mountain biked, rode horses, lounged on the beach, had remarkable meals on the beach and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We asked our girls on the last night if they had a choice, would they have rather gone to southern California, the beaches and Disney Land (one option we discussed), or come to the Dominican Republic like we did. Without hesitation they both responded that they were glad that they had gone to the Dominican Republic. I think that they gained a new appreciation for what they have in life. I feel like our family got to experience the Dominican Republic culture in a way we would have never been able to had we stayed at a resort or all-inclusive.

What a wonderful time we had. To be lulled to sleep every night by the sound of surf. I still miss it. This villa has it all. Beach front, a pool and one of the best blenders ever. I don't think I've ever relaxed quite like this before on a vacation. You really feel like you are home.

We arrived to a wonderful group of Dominicans who truly welcomed us and quickly became our family. We would wake up every morning to an amazing sunrise and dine everynight on the terrace with the ocean waves as our view. We were so well looked after by our Dominican friends, Mari, Cosmo and Willy everyday. We had Willy drive us to Cabarete for shopping and dinner on the beach and also a day trip to Puerto Plata. We enjoyed fresh fish whenever we wanted it. We could lounge poolside and then take long walks along the ocean. The three of us came here to celebrate our 50th birthday and what a better way. It is a beautiful villa and truly paradise. Jane, Judy and Gwen

To sum up ten blissful days at Casa Linda is truly a challenge. This private, intimate getaway has advantages that couldn’t possibly come through in photographs. Located along a quiet street, wonderful for morning walks, situated directly on the beach, it is without doubt one of the most beautiful places I have ever had the privilege of experiencing. Not surprisingly, the local community was full of culture and smiling faces. The staff at the house however, went above and beyond. Mari was always punctual and quick to keep things tidy, while Cosme was exceptionally eager to help. Willie was always ready to take us wherever we wanted to go, and was so well versed on the layout of the island we knew we were in good hands. To say their service and support was exceptional would be doing them no justice. I truly feel great friendships were made in the short time we were there.I look forward to a time when I can return to Casa Linda, and would recommend it for any couple, family, or individual person looking for time to rejuvenate. It offers up something magical, something I didn’t even know I needed until I was there!

Highly Recommended ! Spent ten days at Casa Linda with some girlfriends . It was perfect. Outside, the casa is reminiscent of a villa in southern France. Inside, the casa is beautifully decorated in a Caribbean flavour. The casa’s design cleverly allows for Caribbean breezes to flow through, always ensuring a comfortable temperature. The 3 bedrooms are located in the corners of the building which allows for privacy when there is a large group ( good for non snorers). The bedrooms and guesthouse each have their own bathrooms which was excellent for a group of women. We didn’t even have to make our beds as every day a lovely, friendly local housekeeper came to clean. Such a holiday! If one wanted to prepare some meals, the kitchen was well equipped. The casa is located directly on a beautiful sandy beach which we had most times to ourselves. We enjoyed long walks on this very private bit of paradise. Another option to the ocean, was relaxing around the pool. This area is also very attractive, surrounded by tropical flowering plants, also well equipped with tables and comfortable lounging chairs. The pool and grounds of the casa are extremely well maintained by another friendly, local individual. We also felt very secure as a professional security firm is engaged to patrol the grounds at night. You can enjoy getting away from it all at Casa Linda but you are also close to towns that offer more touristy amenities such as restaurants, shopping, quite good grocery stores. We did engage Willie’s taxi service to escort us to various excursions. Willie’s ability to speak English was very much appreciated. He dealt with our group with much patience and humour. We all had an excellent holiday in the Dominican Republic because of our stay at Casa Linda. We all agreed that we would highly recommend Casa Linda to family and friends. A wonderful vacation spot!!

If you have been to the Dominican Republic you know what an amazing country it is. Its two most outstanding features are the country’s fabulous beaches and the warmth of the people themselves. If you want to fully experience both of these things you should plan to stay at Casa Linda in Las Canas. It is truly a remarkable spot. We have stayed there two years in a row and hope to go back there again next year. This beautifully designed and well-appointed resort home is safely nestled in the Dominican countryside right on the Atlantic Ocean – wow, wait ‘til you see it! The community folks hired by the owners take pride in the care of the villa itself and whoever finds themselves lucky enough to be holidaying there. The gardens and pool are maintained to top standards by Cosme the groundskeeper and the house is kept very clean and comfortable by the lovely Mari. The first year we were so glad to have Willy, who speaks excellent English, be our driver and guide to the local amenities, but this year we opted to rent our own vehicle and find our way to the many amazing natural attractions, sights and restaurants a short drive away. We never gave a moment’s notice to our safety as the house is well-secured and has an always present but unobtrusive night-time security guard. This is honestly such a wonderful place to go for a luxurious, and truly different and relaxing getaway vacation. We would recommend it highly to anyone looking to stay somewhere that combines the resort experience (except without the crowds and with your own private pool and beach!) with the adventure of being immersed in the charming culture of the smiling Dominican people.

After seeing pictures on the internet and booking a vacation home, I always wonder what I’ll find when I arrive. In this case, the pictures don’t begin to do justice to this villa. The design is brilliant with a continuous air flow throughout the house, taking advantage of the ocean breezes. There is a covered lanai at the pool side of the house (we used it as our internet café) and another facing the ocean (we ate dinner there most nights and used the big rocking chairs for an after dinner drink). Every room in the villa has vaulted ceilings soaring approximately 25 feet. The three bedrooms (each with ensuite and safe) have windows on two sides and sliding doors to a lanai on the third. The guest bedrooms each have twin beds that can be made up into a King. You’ll be lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the waves. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking (we had some great fish and barbecues), baking (muffins and one scary bad cake - be careful translating Spanish to English). The living room furniture is all very Pottery Barn and beautiful. There is a double kidney shaped pool with lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas. It has pool noodles to float with and lighting for a night time swim The beach and water are fantastic, hours were spent swimming, walking or just reading in one of the comfy beach chairs. One day I took advantage of an hour long massage on the beach under a palm tree, eyes closed listening to the waves; does life get any better? We hired Willy the driver to take us to a restaurant called Castle Club; the building and views are worth the trip. We sat in the kitchen on stools and had drinks, then moved to the dining room for dinner and finally the living room for after-dinner drinks. We asked Willy to pick us up at 9 pm, at 8:58 I heard his car coming up the road, Willy speaks English and was great if you need to go somewhere. Needless to say we loved this villa and would highly recommend it.

My friend and I spent a magical week in November 2008 at Casa Linda. The house is situated on a beautiful, nearly deserted beach. I spent many hours walking along the beach, without encountering anyone. The road that leads to this paradise is nearly devoid of traffic; which only enhanced my stay and added to the quiet enjoyment of this tropical paradise. The house itself is very well equipped with all of the modern conveniences needed to ensure a comfortable stay. With poolside and ocean-side patio, there is always a pleasant out-door area to enjoy a drink or meal. The very capable housekeeper and groundskeeper ensured that everything (including me) were well cared for. Willie’s taxi service was convenient and fairly priced. Willie’s extensive local knowledge and command of English ensured that our occasional excursions were trouble free. We will certainly be returning to this idyllic vacation home.
