Luxury 4 BR Villa with Incredible Mtn. & Valley Views
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Mt. Crested Butte
When Cassie and I first drove into Crested Butte in June 2002, the views of snowcapped Paradise Divide, the surrounding mountain peaks, valley and wildflowers, chest high, took our breath away. We had seen much of the State of Colorado but, not to take away from the beauty of the Rockies, this place is the most incredibly spectacular of all! We often hear from the long-time residents (the friendliest, most unassuming people one Western Slope) that winter (skiing) brings visitors to Crested Butte but, its summer that brings them back to stay. That includes us...we bought our first home on Mt. Crested Butte within 3 months of our first visit. We were full time residents here until the end of 2007 when we moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to our son's family.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa
Summer: Endless mountain biking trails, including Trail 401 rated by Mountain Biking Magazine as one of the three best trails in North America; 4X4 off-road trails; Hiking to Aspen and exploring wildflower/ waterfall stashes; exploring and climbing the countless peaks, discovering old mining camps and facilities; fly fishing (especially during the September salmon runs up the Gunnison and East Rivers); camping at Oh Be Joyful campground; wildlife and landscape photography and art (professional photographers and artists live here and others come from all over the world to capture the awesome beauty of this place); rafting the Taylor River for some of the best Class 3 and 4 stretches in the State.
Winter: Simply the best steeps and groomed runs and the "Last Great Ski Town" in North America!

This magnificent villa is what dreams vacations were named for. You would never know this home is a rental. The furnishings are fabulous and the condition is unbelievable. Our first reaction when we entered the door was "WOW". We have rented a lot of vacation homes and this is by far the best. The views are so beautiful it makes you want to just sit with a book and spend the day relaxing. But we came to ski and the short walk to the lifts made it so convenient that we were up early every day enjoying the great conditions. The open living area really made it nice for our group to gather and spend time together. We can't wait to return and we've recommended this home to all our friends. Life is made of memories and our trip to Crested Butte is near the top.
Owner response:We really appreciate reviews like this one. We encourage everyone who is searching for a home to stay in while vacationing in Crested Butte to take advantage of the experience of our past guests. This is just one of many that have been left in our Guest Book and on this website.

The condo is very nice and has great views, etc. I agree with all of the other laudatory comments from the other reviewers. Before I get to some "things to consider" let me just say that I would gladly stay there again. No outside hot tub. Not a deal breaker, but they sure are nice after a long day on the hill. It is not "steps" from the lifts. I walked it (and I'm a fast walker) from house to ski locker in 8 minutes with freshly plowed roads and no snow. If its snowing or icy and/or you are toting alot of gear, add a few minutes. If you have kids...double it. In fact I would not make smaller children walk it, just drive them to the base. The ski locker is great! Next best thing to ski in/ski out. Well located just "steps" from the lifts!
Owner response:We were very happy to have these four people as guests in our Villa. They took very good care of the place during their visit and we hope to have them back. We tell everyone (in our email response or telephone conversation) who makes an inquiry exactly what this reviewer pointed out in his review: that it is about a 5 minute walk to the bus stop (public transportation to the town of Crested Butte) and 8 minutes to our locker. We also advise potential guests, who have small children, to plan driving them to the base. By "steps" we mean it is an easy walk and a good cardio warm-up before hitting the slopes.

Perfect Home

This house was perfect for our vacation. It has amazing views out of every window. Although it is close to other homes it felt private and we never heard neighbors. Additionally, the house was very well kept, clean, and organized. I promise you I am a complete clean freak and this house fit the bill. It was extremely clean. The house was also very well stocked. We had all the cooking material we needed. There was also nice shampoo and bath products in each bathroom, which made packing easier. The owners of the home were also great. They checked in by phone with me several times. They also had the home decorated for x-mas, which was a great suprise and very appreciated. In terms of location and having to walk to the slopes, which i was concerned about, it could not have been easier. It is literally a 5-10 minute EASY WALK. By car it takes about 3o seconds so we just took turns dropping each other off, etc. There is a locker for your use at the slopes, which comes with the house and made it very easy. After our trip to this home, we vacationed in Telluride. The home made Crested Butte a much easier ski experience than in Telluride. I would highly recommend this home!!!

We had a beautiful week in Crested Butte. Sept. 10-17 2011. The villa is comfortable and very well maintained. My family wishes to return over and over. You can't go wrong by visiting Crested Butte and staying in the villa and treating your family to a wonderful experience.
Owner response:One of the great benefits of renting our Villa through VRBO and HomeAway is meeting wonderful families from all over the world who come to soak in the beauty, recreational activities and cultural uniqueness of Crested Butte.

We spent a week at this lovely condo in CB for spring break with three generations of skiers. The condo was perfect for a group of 5 with plenty of roound to spread out. Every room was thoughtfully decorated and the kitchen was the best stocked one I have ever seen. Everything was new and in great shape. The ski locker near the mountain was a life saver with two teenager and an 82-year old skier in our group. It saved countless trips to the car and a lot of complaining. What a great treat! The property manager who lives in the area was a great resource. She was full of great ideas and extremely helpful to us. If you visit in the winter, do not miss the snowmobiling at Kebler Pass. What a blast! We'd highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a reasonably priced luxury condo near world class skiing. Thanks to the Catons for sharing this gem with us.

Our family of 8 stayed at this home away from home. We were attending a wedding in Crested Butte and was really looking for convenience. This home met above our expectations. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and had all the home kitchen amenities so that I could take care of the family. It was one of the larges snowfalls in years. Just breathtaking from every direction! The owners provided great information and hospitality before and during our stay. Five of my family skied the slopes. We were in walking distance from slopes. The cleanliness and details of all the amenities was awesome. We shopped a grocery store and prepared several meals which I had everything I needed in cabin to make it special! We did eat at Maxwell's Steak House for the Wedding Reception which was delicious and the service was outstanding! Great shopping area and little pubs and coffee houses too! Just loved the whole experience and would love to come back some time! I would recommend it to everyone looking for a home a way from home to enjoy!
Owner response:We so appreciate your kind comments and we are so very happy you and the family enjoyed our home and our "last great ski town". We do hope you can return in the future. Thanks again for choosing our home for your "home away".

We have stayed at the Caton's villa two times now and love it! This is a beautiful villa--impeccably maintained and with everything you need to enjoy the surrounding area. The villa is spacious enough for two families with children. The mountain views are outstanding and the location is convenient to both Mt. Crested Butte and the town.

This is a well designed home offerring both privacy in the master bedroom upstairs and a large entertaining area on the main floor. The views are great of Mt. Crested Butte, the city of Crested Butte and up the valley. During our two week stay we made day trips to the Black Canyon, Lake City (along a Colorado scenic byway), and over Kebler Pass to view the large expanse of Aspen trees changing color. We recommend this villa to anyone staying at Mt. Crested Butte.
