  Just a fun place to stay. Old school beach experience with uniquely architectural house that provides lots of light, space and amazing rooftop deck, perfect to relax or entertain! Nice amenities with 4 bikes included and full kitchen/pantry but you don't feel like you have to worry about the place, just enjoy! Master bedroom is cool, other rooms pretty small but fine for beach living. Easy to book and, again, love the location. Definitely book again!

  My wife, two daughters, and I spent a wonderful week at Roger's Lighthouse for Spring Break March 16-23. This home sparkles with a brand new exterior paint job (the bright orange with pastel trim colors make this home unmistakable). This home is clean & well kept. It's architecture is really cool with a big vaulted front porch & a "Florida Room" on the 2nd floor. There is a bedroom & full bath on each of its 3 floors. The 3rd floor BR gets a little hot with the windows closed during the day, but there's lots of windows to open up to make it breezy & comfortable. This home's location is outstanding...its a short two blocks to the Seaside city center (and the airstream food trailers) and its a short 1 block walk to the beach. The roof top deck provides a panoramic view of Seaside & the ocean beyond. Its perfect for sunrise & sunset viewing. I'm a photography buff and I was able to capture some really cool photos from the roof top. My wife appreciated the excellent kitchen with updated appliances. Its fully stocked with all the cooking items & utensils, which came in handy when we hosted friends for dinner. There is a nice HD TV in the living room. We had difficulty figuring out how to turn it on; however, the owner's maintenance man got it turned on for us after responding to our request for help on the same day we called. We enjoyed use of the adult pool and the family pool that are provided with the rental. We also had use of the 4 bikes that were provided. We biked everywhere throughout Seaside and Watercolor...there was never a reason to drive anywhere, unless you want to venture over to Rosemary's Beach to the east or Destin to the west. Make sure to pay a visit to the Seagrove Market Cafe (just a short bike ride or walk to the east off 30-A)...their food is outstanding and less expensive than the Shrimp Shack in Seaside. If you love Oysters-on-the-half-shell, make sure to take advantage of the $6/per dozen happy hour special at the Great Southern Cafe in Seaside! My daughters & I loved being introduced to the fun sport of Yolo Boarding. Its easy to learn & its good exercise. Watercolor has a nice Yolo Boarding facility. The owner's leasing representative Rene was responsive and easy to work with throughout the reservation process and during our stay. Staying at Roger's Lighthouse definitely enhanced our overall experience in Seaside...would recommend splurging on this place!

  Honestly, a stay at Seaside should be enough in itself, but a stay at Roger's Lighthouse made the 3 nights I was there an absolute blast. The 3rd story balcony was nearly the highest balcony in the neighborhood and made for coffee in the morning and cigars at night better than any hotel or other beachouse in the area could offer. You're literally one block from the Seaside grocery store, the coffee shop, the food trucks, everything. We used the 4 beach crusiers more than we thought, and that was great to get everywhere rather than drive. We had trouble with the TV when we got in, and after texting the owner we were called by the property manager within 60sec, literally, and that was really impressive. The next time we're in Seaside, this will be where we stay. #GoVols

  Roger's Lighthouse is not for the faint of heart. The reservation process was excellent and working with the owner was an overall pleasant experience. The property is an interesting mix of architectural appeal with an emphasis on your need to maintain an adventurous attitude. The view from the tower is awesome and while it was too cold during our stay to fully experience the upper level patio it certainly promises to be a memory maker under the right conditions. I would never suggest a change of floor plan given the property's unique architectural past but an updating would certainly stimulate the its overall appeal. The location is to die for with its proximity to everything. Do yourself a favor and know that you are counting on valuing the architectural history and premium location to satisfy your appetite for a stay in the Seaside area. The floor plan and the related challenges associated with it combined with a need for 21st century appointments will either appeal to your adventurous nature or it won't. We've stayed in the area many times and while our overall stay in the area was good it certainly would have been excellent with a few manageable updates to the property. Give credit where it's due but as in all things in life, buyer beware. Or at least be advised.

  Beachfront houses aside, there's not a better location in Seaside. The outdoor living spaces at Rogers Lighthouse can't be beat. A rooftop terrace gives a great view of the town and gulf. But for best sunset views, go ahead and walk the 200 feet to the Ruskin Pavillion. The 2nd floor shutter room with hammock was a great place for an afternoon read or cocktails. But we spent most of our outdoor time in the adirondack chairs on the front porch entry. As one of the oldest homes in Seaside, it's starting to show some wear and tear. I guess I expected it to be a bit more posh. The brand new fridge was a nice update, however. A bedroom on each floor gives nice privacy and separation. All in all, a very comfortable stay and certainly much more house than what the two of us needed. We loved having the adult pool a short walk away, the town square around the corner and the beach just down the street. Again, location can't be better.

  We just returned from a week-long stay at Roger's Lighthouse. We had a great trip. The best thing about this house is its location. It's perfectly situated on East Ruskin (which is one block away from the Seaside village area) and a few houses down from the East Ruskin beach access pavilion. It's far enough down the street from 30-A that you do not hear the noise of the traffic but less than a one block walk to the the beach. The house itself has an interesting architectural flair with an absolutely stunning rooftop patio that has awesome views of the ocean and Seaside. We spent every evening up there (and one sunrise too.) The house layout suited our family well because each bedroom is on a separate floor (which offered a little more privacy for a family with a toddler and teenagers.) We also really enjoyed the four bikes that were included with the house. We rode them every day to and from the community park (which our toddler loved!) My husband also particularly appreciated the updated flat screen TVs with full cable in the main room and bedrooms. It was a big sports week while we were there! I cooked several nights and found everything I needed in the kitchen - - the appliances were all updated and modern.

  To begin with the positive: this house could not be more perfectly located. It is four houses from the beach, a three minute walk at most. It also has a backyard path that puts you in the town center in less time than the beach. The house furnishings are comfortable and the house was cleaned well following the last guests. The owner was immediately responsive to questions and very helpful. Unfortunately, this house is long overdue for maintenance and renovation. Upon arrival, we noticed several ceiling fans that were barely attached to the ceiling, and therefore, unusable. The tiles in the bathroom are molded and in need of caulking. The shower curtains are molded and need replacement. Aspects of the house are strange and need renovation, such as the shower in the first floor bedroom is missing a wall separating it from the adjoining laundry room, separated only by a curtain. The upstairs bedroom has a bathroom sink and shower located inside the bedroom. It took several days to find the outdoor shower, because it is in the back of the house, inaccessible from the front of the house, where you enter after returning from the beach, so we spent the week tracking sand into the house, onto the floors, into our beds, etc. The pictures are reflective of the house in better days and deceiving. I also take issue with the fact that the cleaning fee was higher than other listed houses and not waived for individuals staying in excess of the minimum number of nights, as offered by many other houses listed in VRBO. Knowing what I know now, I would not have rented this house and felt that it detracted from the enjoyment of our vacation. I would not recommend the house to anyone I know. I will, however, return to Seaside as soon as possible. It was wonderful in every way and my new favorite beach destination.

  Owner response: The ceiling fans were due to be replaced and were to be replaced prior to the last guest arrival. However, the guest arrived two and one half hours early and told my handyman who was prepared to replace the fan with a new one not to do it. The fans have now been replaced and are in good working order. I was not aware of any problems with any tiles but they have now been recaulked.All shower curtains are replaced at least every six months. Again, the guests arrived two and one half hours early which probably resulted in the shower curtains not being properly cleaned and/or replaced. We try and respond quickly to all guest concerns and have main trance and cleanup services available at all times. All problems that are brought to our attention are remedied as quickly as possible. Roger's Lighthouse was designed by Victoria Casasco who was the at time of construction the Seaside town architect. After the completion of the house she was named one of the top 40 architect under the age of 40. The house has been featured in Metropolitan Homes and on its cover. It has also been featured in a Spanish and German magazine. I am sorry that the guest did not like certain design ideas at the house but we have never had any complaints concerning the architectural integrity of the home and do not feel that the suggestions are warranted. I am not aware of the cleanup policies of other rental homes on VRBO but our rates are clearly established. We try and provide a wonderful and enjoyable experience for all our guests. I certainly am sorry that the guest was not 100 per cent satisfied but our history has shown that Roger's Lighthouse is one of the most enjoyable and sought out rental in Seaside. We will continue to strive to make each guests stay a memorable experience.

  We enjoyed our stay at Roger's Lighthouse. The cottage had plenty of room for the three of us plus our daughter's 2 friends. The proximity to the beach was very convenient, and we liked the convenience of having the shutter room and tower as additional outdoor spaces. Having the bikes included in the rental allowed us to not have to bring ours with us.

  Roger's Lighthouse is my family's favorite house in Seaside! It's one of the early Seaside homes, and is featured in books and magazines for its striking architecture. But what keeps us coming back to Roger's (2010 was our fourth or fifth stay) is not so much the architecture itself, and what they did with it: The "shutter room" that's over the front entrance to the house--a great place to relax, even when in the heat of the summer. Even better, the top deck, over the third floor master bedroom--astounding 360 views of Seaside and the water. A great place to hang out in the evening, to enjoy the sunset, and perhaps a cocktail. The location is great--just 2-3 minutes' walk will put your feet on the fine white sand of Seaside. To answer questions suggested by VRBO: • Although I knew the house before finding it on VRBO, the listing description is quite accurate. • It was clean and ready for us when we got there, and maintained as an excellent beach house. • When I had questions before arriving, the owner or his agent were very quick to respond with details. • The four owner-supplied bikes came in very handy, and saved us the high rental fees we'd have had to pay otherwise. In short, the perfect Seaside experience!

  We stayed at Roger's Lighthouse for 4 nights and had a great time. The location of the house is excellent. Only a few houses from 30 A and the beach access and very close to the city center. While the house has shown some wear (but definitely still up to Seaside standards), it is very spacious and includes all upgraded amenities (wireless internet, flat screen TVs through out the house). The view from the top balcony is amazing. Would recommend staying here.
